I can understand that. I feel for the dude.

But my love for James Gunn outweighs my care factor, so I really want to see this movie so I can see a minute of Gunness. :D

A Scientific review.

In points form:
1. Putting a more clearer realistic tone to it compared to Thor 1 (Departure from the mythos and Comics). The 9 realms are distance planets with life presumably in the same Milky-way Galaxy. Just 5 realms were shown in detail (Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim [Frost Giants], Vanaheim [Hogun's home world], Svartalfheim [Dark Elves]). The more realistic realms are presented/mentioned, not the exotic/unrealistic ones.

Dis-jointed: In Thor 1 the rainbow bridge shows it drops to space/emptyness/space... Thor 2 shows it at a sea expanse... then again version 1 and 2 of the Bi-Frost might be at different areas. Asgard in Thor 1 is like the comics, a land in space... while Thor 2 is appears to be a planet.

The 9 planets/relms are not all there is..... as there are many other life forms from other planets.... queue: Guardians of the Galaxy/Thanos

2. Somehow there is a 5000 years cycle (or alignment) occurrence in which somehow allows seamless and instantaneous travel to the 9 planets... these would be portals (or worm holes). In the marvel Movieverse.. there are 3 modes of travel:
(A) Existing Portals, no energy required, fixed areas
(B) Dark Energy/Tesseract opening portals/transporting objects, high energy, can go to anyway.
(C.) Bi-Frost, speed objects beyond the speed of light...... To and Fro to Asgards's Bi-frost.... probably limited to the 9 realms.
Loki uses A and B for travels... lacking access to C.

3. Humanoid lifeforms from the other 4 realms/planets (not Earth/Midgard) .... Asgard, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Svartalfheim.. apparently have a extremely long life-span.... maybe around or more than 5k years... lets just say at least 10k years for the Asgardians... So more than enough for the whole of human's recorded history.. Norse mythos is probably around 6k years old regarding Odin....It's is then presumed then Bor/Malekith/Aether event probably occurred at least 2 cycles ago... or 10k years ago. So, if Thor stayed for the whole of Jane's life-time it's probably just a month of Thor entire life-span (Correlating 10k Asgardian years = 85 human years). Thor's tryst...is just a blip in time for Asgardians....

4. So the 6 Infinity gems for Thanos' gauntlet.... Physic terms regarding what it contains:
(I) Tesseract: Dark Energy
(II) Aether: Anti-Matter...
III, IV, V, & VI are unknown..... but one of them has to be Dark Matter.... They (Script writers and scientific advisors) have a trend of using unknown quantities in Physic for powers...

5. Bad/inaccurate CGI animation regarding Midgard (Earth) and moon. 1) The Moon is too small. 2) The Moon is too near..... Hollywood always gets this wrong. hopping Marvel could do better.... They could have just animated Earth and the Moon is not in frame... Anyways nice depiction of Thors hammer heading to where he is in the Universe (or Galaxy), when he went from portal to portal on and off planet...

Just saw it and absolutely loved the movie. Overall great entertainment, and for me equal with the first Thor film which is my favourite Marvel film behind The Avengers and Iron Man.

I also loved Loki in this. I enjoyed Tom Hiddleston's portrayal in Thor and The Avengers, but I'd say this was his best performance... or the one I enjoyed the most.

Regarding the mid-credits scene, what Infinity Gem was given to The Collector? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Nevertheless, it has me really keen and excited for GOTG.

And the Cap cameo was great.

saw the movie on thursday night. and i really hate to say this, but... i did NOT like the movie. in fact, i must admit with a heavy heart that i dislike this sequel a lot. a shame, since the first one was such a strong favourite of mine.

the tone of the film is all over the place, the pacing is weird, it's filled with needless, clumsy subplots, and worst of all, the characters are very inconsistent. the most shocking being Thor himself, who at some points does not even resemble the charming, exuberant personality we've come to know and love over 2 films.

is there anything good about it? Not a whole lot, but yes. tom hiddleston is still the best thing about the franchise as Loki, bringing much-needed heart and magnetism to the film. some of the action is cool, the humour works in places, and the visual effects are top notch. but by & large this is a disappointment. i blame the script and director alan taylor. sigh.

u fanboys may slag me off for this negative review but i don't really care. this is honestly how i felt.

Kind of same feelings I had after the movie. Though, I wouldn't call the first one being one of my strong favourite. But it was much better than this one.

This just was boring, mostly thanks to those uber-boring dark elves. Those were just freaking lame in all possible ways. I thought that there could be something interesting about them, but not a chance.

5/10

Yeahp! Dark Elves were very flat characters.
The Kurse had potential, but the one Kurse we see did nothing but be a tool.. :lol

Good thing I never considered them important to the whole movie. For me the movie was still about Thor and Loki.

Perhaps looking at it as such made me enjoy it. :)

I can see you don't read MCU news that much. :wave

yes, as a matter of fact i do follow mcu news, and i know the clashes taylor had with marvel studios. still doesn't change the point i was making. taylor's direction lacked conviction, as if he was unsure and worse, embarrassed about the comic book material. u just CANNOT do that. u have to embrace it the way kenneth branagh did, while giving it the necessary gravitas and empathy for the characters. the script started a lot of the problems with the story and characters, and taylor's direction made it worse. i really wanted to like this. but sadly it was just not how it played for me.

Just got back from seeing and I really enjoyed it. Tbh out of all the movies with Thor and Loki in it, I enjoyed their performance in this one the most.

One of my fav. scenes was where
Loki reveals that he took Odin's place. Very curious to find out what he did with Odin.

BTW I'm not familiar with the comics so can someone enlighten me on the importance of
the Collector
?

Point taken. :lecture

I had the same two questions leaving the cinema.

I think the collector will have a major role in Guardians of the Galaxy.

My friends also told me the Collector was in possession of a few infinity gems in the comic and Thanos took them from him.
So, I guess the collector is a bridge to Avengers 3 with Thanos.

Here's some relevant info from Thanos: Quest. (Prelude to Infinity Gauntlet)

The Collector also had the power of prophecy, allowing him to foresee the rise of a being powerful enough to pose a threat to the Elders: Thanos. To protect life in the universe, the Collector created a massive museum of countless life forms to keep them safe from Thanos. For a time, he even possessed one of the six Infinity Gems, unaware of its true power, until Thanos took it.

Thanos traded something rarer with the Collector for his Infinity gem in this story. He defeated and/or tricked all the other holders of Infinity Gems
