He was supposed to have said Hank Pym as the person he would email but it was removed because Kevin Feige felt that it was too much name dropping especially since in the same scene the scientist also mentions that he knew Bruce Banner.

Oh that would have been cool to hear.
Ah well.
Thanks. :)

This is how I explained it to my friend when we were talking about it after we left the movie. I personally agree with the reviewer that it would've made a lot of sense to leave him stranded on Earth with Jane, and making it take less time for SHIELD to recruit him in the Avengers. But like Dave said, it's hard to critique these points when we don't know exactly what they have in plan for us throughout the course of the next few years with the other Marvel films.

~~Also, the more and more I think about this movie in my head---the more badass Loki is in the movie.

After thinking about it - this may work better - we know Loki can move between realms without the bridge and we know he's up to mischief on earth. So Heimdall or Odin will be able to see the trouble he's causing but Thor won't be able to save Earth because he's stuck without the bridge. So Stark and Foster have to work together with Reed Richards to create an interdimensional transporter so Thor can come save earth from his brother.

Hmm, we need another movie before Avengers...

Havent seen the movie yet so I dont know what Odin's status is.
I assume he still lives.
Ive always believed Odins power to transport himself or individuals was independent of Bifrost.
His casting out of Thor scene seems to bare this out.
Thor has used his hammer to teleport to and from Asgard in the comics. Twirls the hammer, creates an interdimensional doorway, steps through.
Cant believe Bifrost is the only gateway.

I haven't been to the movies 3x in the past year. I might go see Thor this week..

saw it this weekend in 3D, man i hate that feature but basically had to see it since my brother inlaw and kids wanted to see it in 3D.

will most likely see it on cheap night in town without the 3D effect and will enjoy the movie much more and not have to sort through the 3D effects.
i say this was as good as the first IM and can't wait for Cap to hit theaters:yess:

the Thor/portman relationship really worked for me :monkey1

Saw this today and really liked it. Watched the teaser after the credits and...

What's that cube thing about?

Reading more reviews around the net and thinking about it myself....BA isn't as off the mark as some might think....I kind of agree that leaving Thor stranded on Earth may have made for a stronger ending and a stronger sense of growth and sacrifice on Thor's part.

As it's presented in the film, Loki is the one with a more significant and complete arc (I can't stop thinking about Hiddelston's amazing performance) and just a couple of minor adjustments would've made Thor's journey equally powerful. Thank the 9 realms we had such a great presence in Hemsworth...he's everything the role needs - virile,
strong, charming and thoughtful...and with the acting chops to sell the role. But....the script does let him down and the pacing is off a bit.

I'm aware of the good argument that we don't know where Marvel's going with the story for a sequel and yes, this is all a set-up for "The Avengers".
I know is probably sacrilegious around here to say this but....I could care less about "The Avengers" movie...I'd rather see "Thor II"...a continuation of the story started in this movie. This movie does do the one main thing it needs to....it leaves you wanting more.

I hope "The Avengers" doesn't turn out to be an incoherent mess, with each character coming in and doing their ___ick and then moving on for the next character's "moment". Having last summer's "Iron Man 2" as concerned with the "Avengers" set-up as it was with it's own story kind of derailed it a bit. That issue is less so with "Thor", but I still hope we won't have to wait too long for a sequel that focuses on him and not a set-up for something else....
