That was not what BRB was/is though. The cheap rip off/replacement for Thor would be this guy...Thunderstrike.

Sorry thats what BRB looks reminds me of. They can keep him as far away from Thor II, III, etc as possible.

Beta Ray Bill is absolutely no different than War Machine, Scarlet Spider, Flash Thompson Venom, Carnage, Red Hulk, X-23, Hobgoblin, etc. They are all the base archetype with a different personality/persona spin on it to attact new viewers and readers. Iron Man fans will defend War Machine as vital tooth and nail while those who don't care or don't particularly like WM will say it's just an Iron Man ripoff. I've heard Carnage fans talk about how vital he is to the Spider-Man mythos where others say it was just a cheap marketing plot to capitalize on the success of Venom.

Honestly I've read fantastic BRB stories and would love to see him on screen but there is so many places they can still go with Thor especially considering the modern stuff going on now before putting in a Thor like character. I thought the introduction of War Machine in Iron Man 2 was premature even despite Favreau's little nod in the first and I wouldn't have done it at all. Then again I'm not the one making those big bucks to make that call.

I agree. I like some of the rip-off-type characters, but understand what they are and why they exist. To take it to another level, you've got all the different "spectrum" Green Lanterns now. They seem to be as popular as anything else in comics, and the comics are apparently very well written, but it all starts out with a simple gimmick to attract new readers to the comics by capitalizing on what folks know and care about an existing set of characters.

Well there's cheap rip offs and spinoffs then there's Thor with a snout.... Nothing against BRB but that's not extremely palatable. Or maybe he is....

I'll even go one further. Within those spin-off you've mimicking of the original. The GLC has Killowog

so when the Sinestro Corps took off as severely popular they got Arkillo, same sector, same basic idea, a huge hulking drill sargeant.

Literally DC has set it up in the GL universe to copy any character but picking a similar from the same sector and make them a different color. I love GL but I couldn't logically argue that it's a cash grab that just happens to be successful.

Venom started out as just Spider-Man with a mouth. Especially consideirng that the symbiote was in full usage since Secret Wars #8

Same here, wife loved it, she said Stark is a wimp next to the God of Thunder :lol

I reminded her that he's an Alien-God :lol

Way more palatable than Thor with a snout. Especially since Spidey just wears a costume. You wear one, you look like a Spidey..... Plus it ties in well with the actual process of symbiosis.

wife loved it!!thought it was unreal and she was glad i took her to see it in the Titan screen in 3D.
She confirmed that i could buy the Odin and Thor HT figures....but i already did pre order though Loonten so all good ;)
