They get my respect and money because there's a good chance they will release a licensed figure of Neo from the Matrix. Something I've always wanted.

^ Wasn't there talk of they couldn't do human characters because of licensing problems with the actors likeness'?

I remember hearing something about that, too. But they must have cleared whatever legal/contract/rights hurdles were in the way, since those workshop table pics clearly tease a Trinity sculpt! Which is pretty fantastic news, if you ask me!

Hot toys fan boys call other companies slow, Well, I have been waiting 3 years for the Lone Ranger and some of HT figures have been on pre order for years while others shown at conventions and not even up yet.
Threezero is a good company. I recently discovered it and they make great products. All businesses borrow money for tons of reasons from expansion to costs to cover other stuff.

What has been on pre-order for years?

I understand prototypes not being released, but that's not really the same thing. When they announce a line and actually start making it/selling it and barely produce 3 figures in 2 years it's a bit slow.

In a recent chat here on the forum with Mat Bischof from Sideshow, he said it usually takes 1-2 years to make one figure. Making 1/6 scale figures is a slow process.

It's pretty understandable since ThreeZero isn't at HT level, and each release is no doubt somewhat risky. It's frustrating as a collector to see this line trickly out. I was thinking the other night how cool it will be to finally add Jon to the collection, not to mention Dany and eventually Jaime, Cersei, etc. Right now there's just lonely Tyrion. Unfortunately the GoT line just doesn't have an "Iron Man" factor to drive the line. While HT was able to build its brand and market share by cranking out a good number of highly detailed figures in past, I think Iron Man singlehandedly gave them flexibility and cashflow to be much more aggressive in the number of figures they release. The success of the Avengers license only expanded that trend, and no doubt Star Wars will add to the fire. Sure the Batman license was a success but I'd be willing to bet those sales pale in comparison to Iron Man figures. ThreeZero has some solid licenses with GoT, TWD, TNMT, etc. but they need a surefire heavy hitter.

The largest issue facing this hobby is that the majority of collectors point to Hot Toys as the standard, which is just absurd to me.

I can't think of any other market where every other product is judged against the market leader. Does every cell phone get judged against the iPhone? Doe we compare all cars to Lamborghinis? Are all vacuum cleaners compared to Hoovers?

Hot Toys is not a standard. Everybody wants everything to be like Hot Toys, but when you look at the actual Hot Toys threads, people are still complaining. . . about a lack of variety, rising prices, soft sculpts, quality problems. . . it's just absurd.

Ht is not necessarily the quality leader but they have pretty much set the bar, most of their pieces are very very good to great, but there are some clunkers, and the licenses and resources to be much more aggressive in their number of releases. I think Tyrion stacks up extremely well to any HT figure and Ned looks very promising. The new ACI Aragorn is probably one of the top5 figures I own, including probably 100 HT figs.

My point is that ThreeZero has great licenses but they are likely being conservative in their schedule to ensure cash flow and profitability because the customer base is smaller. I'll buy the GoT line in a heartbeat, the more the better. They don't need a HT brand on them. I want to buy TWD but am waiting for a few more in the pipeline. I think if HT had those licenses you would probably see about the same schedule. IM, Avengers, DC and Star Wars are the money makers.

If you're the market leader, you set the bar...you are the standard. "Does every cell phone get compared to the iPhone?" Yes, every one that is meant to compete with it is compared to it. Hence why you see it and other Apple products in commercials for a competitors product.

Face it, Hot Toys leads the pack in all categories that are measurable. Quality, production accuracy, cut & sew, sculpts, all the hot licenses and a slew of other things. Any 1/6th company would kill to take their throne, no pun intended.

Not to belittle any of the other small players in the market, but compared to Hot Toys, they are all small players after all. Does that mean no company can compete with them? No. But there's a lot of runners that can compete with Usain Bolt, but in the sprint, they still lose even if they do beat him out the blocks from time to time.

That being said, I still enjoy the competition. I really appreciate the smaller companies varying taste. It's refreshing from the big blockbuster stuff but I do wish they would uptick the production just a little. But the reality is, they probably have to get in line behind Hot Toys anyway.

I'm sure it takes time, but Hot Toys get 5-6 figures from one series out within the span of a year, not saying there wasn't a lot of work before we see the teaser pics, but we at least get a good batch. We are getting Star Lord, Gamora, Groot and Racoon all in 2015.

I guess it's a company size issue, HT is much bigger therefor can produce more work i guess.

Jon Snow teaser is out. The outfit looks phenomenal but the sculpt looks slightly off.

I'm guessing either that sword or his dire wolf will be the 3zero EX item. Looking forward to this PO, I think it looks decent enough.

YES!!! I'm excited :D I'd like to see a picture of that sculpt without a Photoshoped background and what-not, just a shot from the front and side.

EDIT: This also means we are one step closer to Dany & Jaime... :D

Looks like it might be real leather boots, which is awesome. Ghost is the only tolerable exclusive, if they make Longclaw the Ex, I'm gonna flip out.

Looks good; I think the sculpt is there, but the lighting/shot is messing with it a bit. Not on my to-buy list; BUT I can appreciate it. The tailoring is great.
