I like Jaime as a character but I still see him as a man without honor.

Just because he saved a city that was sacked anyway and good old Ned Stark gave him an ugly stare making him sad doesn't redeem him. He is still a ****** who betrayed his king (Robert) and almost killed an innocent kid. Still he is one of my favorite characters but far from being a hero.

He's flawed, but at the very least they've done a decent job of showing that he's actually trying to make a change. I say only decent because the way the show is formatted and the fact we get everything dished out in little bits with so many players, it doesn't leave as much time as some other productions to see the character fully develop and go through the changes - a lot is always left up to imagination with GoT.

Reasons why i don't like Arya. Someone asked why a few pages back.

Though I did enjoy her storyline wirh the hound, ultimately I find her to be incredibly irritating. In kind of the same way that I hated that movie Juno from a few years ago where the lead female is a snarky brat who thinks she's smarter than she is. I find her storylines to be boring and she gets too much screen time. It's all self involved and self fufulling unlike Sansa who I don't like either but at least she weaves into the main storyline a bit more. This new one with the faceless gods or whatever has been torture I've fallen asleep countless times in an episode in one of those identicle scenes where she's cleaning something in that cave.

She's the one stark I don't really feel sorry for either, I secretly hope she gets killed haha.

And I know I'll get flack for this but I'll say it anyways I don't think Maiase Williams is very a good an actor and I think she's a butt-ugly little girl. She was cuter when she was younger but puberty is not treating her kindly. I actually find her difficult to look at on screen. If she was less irritating personality wise I probably wouldn't care if she was ugly. There's a lot of non attractive people on game of thrones.

Bram stark on the others and is even worse so don't get me started.

That. I don't care about her physical appearance though.

My feeling is not that Jamie is really evolving from conscious decisions, so much as the writers decided they liked him more as the series progresses, and started really changing his personality pretty substantially. I've been slowly rewatching season 1, and Jaimie is more or less a **** in that season. I recall being happy when he got captured by the Starks later, and now can see why. Not just pushing Bran out of the window, but later killing Ned's men just for the sake of being a ******, and his general personality. He's like a totally different character by season 3. Hard to imagine him now doing the stuff he did in season 1. And though he's had some personal issues that you might expect would change him a bit--particularly his interaction with Brienne--I don't think it could be responsible for this much fundamental change in a real person. He seems neutered a bit, like Hugh Jackman Wolverine (seasons 3-5 Jaimie) vs. comic Wolverine (season 1 Jaimie). I don't really mind though. GOT has lots of cruel *********s, so having another character the audience can actually like and get behind is more valuable.

Honestly, that actress annoys me, too. I wouldn't call her ugly or anything, and don't think that has anything to do with it for me--she's just a normal looking girl to my eyes. But her mannerisms and actions don't endear her to me very much. It worked better when she was juxtaposed with the Hound, since that was such an interesting relationship. But now that she's more or less on her own, interacting with that vacuum of charisma playing the Faceless Man, it just turns me off to her. But hopefully she'll embark on a rampage of killing and vengeance soon, which will help to offset these deficiencies :lol

I should say that I wasn't very into Jon Snow until probably last season. So, there is room for improvement with these characters/actors.

I totally agree, Jon was a total dud until he became an awesome character the last two seasons.

I think aryas appearance wouldn't bother me at all if I didn't find her to be so irritating. But she's just like nails on a chalk board all around to me.

I really don't know what her appearance has to do with it one way or another but, eh. I hear this a lot from men making refernce to woman actors. I think its pretty ugly. Anyway, I think she's an excellent actor and has done well with the character. Those scenes with Tywin? The torment she relives whenever she talks about her family? Even that teary eyed scene when she couldn't get rid of Needle. Man, she's been great. Not to mention she's been loads of fun. She'll live to the end.

Speaking on Shireen from the book, GRRM Martin may have disclosed what happens to her but we do not know the circumstances. They may be very different as readers know Stannis and Shireen are in very different places right now.

This season has had some pretty off stuff. First, Sansa makes NO sense at all. I thought we were going to see a more clever, stronger Sansa that can play the game and will take less ****. A lot of ways we've seen this very thing, but then in the next scene she's acting like the naive little girl. Wtf.

Dorne, for me, has been the first time I've genuinely been disappointed with some in this show. The set has been outstanding, no complaints there. But the Sand Snakes have been very meh. And, this is my bigger complaint, they've turned Jaime and Bronn into baffoons. I was so happy when I learned Bronn was returning AND that he'd be teamed up with Jaime for Dorne. Very different from the books but what the hey! Bronn has always had a humorous edge and with Tyrion they made a really fun team. It seems they're trying to do the same with Jaime and Bronn but they've downgraded them to looney toon like antics. That **** in the Water Gardens??? Are you ****ing serious??? [emoji38]

There has also been some gratuitous BS this year. Like finding out Meryn Trant is a ****. Why? Oh, just because. I was fine with Arya killing him without that nonsense.

And I think the Shireen/fire scene was well executed all around. You could see Stannis was both in pain but absolutely dogmatic and twisted for his quest to win. He also looks sick. His eyes are sunk and dark, he's obsessed in the most diabolical way. He's become deeply twisted, almost possessed.

Overall, this is still my favorite show and they've departed from the books a good bit but they've done a great job with it. I'll always prefer books to shows but I am not a book purist when it comes to adaption and fans that are end up sounding idiotic and infantile sometimes. Still, I must admit this season has been the weakest even with some great episodes. Honestly, I hope they do wrap it up in 7 seasons and make the next two seasons mind blowing and go out on top rather then go on and on and run the risk of going to ****s-ville. I prefer shorter shows rather then shows with 10+ seasons.

I have also really enjoyed this season. Not sure how I would rank it, but it's had highs and lows, as all seasons do.

I agree about Dorne, but think the Sansa turn makes some sense. Little Finger helped to empower her a bit at first, and she felt like she might actually be able to dictate the terms of her own life. But then. . .he turns her 180 degrees by sending her to marry Ramsay, and then she finds herself back where she was with Joffrey and then some. So, her moment of triumph and power was real, but fleeting :lol It probably also foreshadows the future. I suspect that after Sansa moves beyond Ramsay (one way or another), she will be stronger for it. Though GOT loves to prove us wrong with things like this, it's hard to imagine her getting much lower! So, she can only go up from here, right? Unless they turn her into a slave prostitute or something :lol

I would love to see Sansa offing Little Finger at some point.

But they haven't been following the books formally. Big changes really started with Season 2 and have grown exponentially from there. And the complaints I have aren't about any of the changes from the books with this season. It's the execution of characters arcs and storylines. Season 4 was one of the best for me, better than season 3. So it was a hard act to follow anyway. I think this finale is going to be awesome if somethings happen that I suspect. After this season we're caught up with the exception of one character that will be included next season that's in A Dance with Dragons. But by and large us book readers are going in blind. That will be interesting. GRRM said the next book will be out next year before season 6. Not that it matters because season 6 will be done filming. Either way there ain't no way book 7 will be out before season 7.

Oh, and Littlefinger is a **** but I enjoy all his scenes. One of those Bolton ****ers needs to die though. Or I'm going to pull my hair out. What's left of it. [emoji38]

Little Finger reminds me of Kaiser Soze. :lol All of the Bolton's need to die.

Littlefinger is obviously a bit charismatic, and there is a charm to his manipulations. But he's responsible for as much suffering and upheaval as almost anyone. If not for him, Ned might still be around.

Sansa should castrate him.
More appropriate if she manipulates Reek into doing it.

Just a quick summary of my thoughts from the last two pages of discussion: Jamie is one of my favorites from the books. He's perhaps the most misunderstood character in the whole series. Arya is great, she's been annoying on the show ever since she started selling clams tho. As for this season, it's been pretty bad outside of Hardhome.
