Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

Good to know. Michonne is hopefully not to far away. Pets look great, but need Michonne to make sense for display purposes.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

Damn, I was hoping Daryl was first. Maybe him and Rick will be next summer. I wouldn't mind that too much

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

I'm not surprised (or disappointed) that the Pets are coming first. The Pets protos they showed at ComiCon looked fantastic. The walkers are always going to be easier and faster to do than the humans, since they don't have to be quite as exact with the likenesses.

Fine with me if they have to take a bit more time to get the humans right. The head sculpts they showed a few months back certainly are a step up from the Merle proto.

Has there been any word on distributors yet? Sideshow carries some 3A pieces, I wonder if they'll be carrying 3Zero as well. (I wouldn't mind being able to earn points and use Flex for this line.)

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

It was oblivious the Pets were going to be first. They have been the only complete figures we've seen outside of Merle who was a really early WIP prototype. It was an odd choice to start with the pets though, I'll admit that. Especially with no sign of Michonne yet. But I'm happy with getting anything and everything from this line :rock

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

I think it was a smart choice. Horror collectors are dying for 1:6 zombies (other than the meh DAM Nazi zombies, and the long wait for Nate, there's nada) and what better way to attract people than catering to that market? Plus, not only are they instantly recognizable, but you know that Michonne is coming too. Getting them in hand with the Dixons on preorder and probably other cast members announced by that time, it's smart marketing. Bait. Hook. Reel them in. :wink1:

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

Yeah, a zombie definitely should have been the first choice, but I just don't think the Pets were quite the right ones. They are definitely recognizable but they are associated with Michonne so much its a little odd to not see her right behind them at least. While I love Merle, Michonne would have been the logical first human to go with the Pets.

Guess I'm not sure what zombie I would have done first in place of the pets though. Maybe a human character and an zombie they interacted with. Rick and Bicycle Girl or Andrea and the RV Walker?

Again, I'm not complaining, I just find it a strange first choice and follow up figures.

The second most recognizable zombie from the series would be the bicycle girl, but that's not a very wise choice to attract interest. The little girl walker from the pilot, the RV walker and Well walker are other decent options, but they don't have the instant recognition of the bicycle girl or, as was used here, Michonne's pets. I think the decision was sound, especially when you're looking for a "Cemetery Zombie" or "Bub" to hook people in.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

They certainly are iconic "walking dead" zombies, that is for sure. But they aren't good 'generic' zombies to fill that 1:6 zombie void the Dead left behind. The lack of arms and jaws hurts that option - unless they include those like McFarlane did with the 5" figures.

So they are great zombies to hook people in on for a "walking dead" line, but not the easiest to appeal to those just wanting 'generic' zombies. Again, I'm not complaining, but just pairing them with Merle as the initial offerings is so baffling to me.

I wonder if their license is like one of the vinyl lines is - they can only make characters exclusively from the TV series first (hence Merle and Daryl)? While I'm a huge Merle fan, I'd think him further down the list than Rick or Michonne.

Might be complications with the actors signing on? :huh

Are Merle & Daryl not in the comics? I don't want to google in case I stumble upon some type of spoiler.

Nope. The Dixons are purely show characters. And I think that is a big factor of Kirkman wanting to kill Daryl off - because he's not responsible for creating the character that is the fan favorite of the show :lol

Kirkman wants to kill off Daryl? Do you have a link with this info?

What, things aren't true anymore without links? :lol

It was at SDCC this year. He said he'd like to kill Daryl off just to prove that nobody is safe on the show. I don't think AMC will let him have his way though. Daryl brings in way too many fans to kill off just yet. If we ever see Daryl die, I bet its during a Kirkman directed episode.

Re: ThreeZero Toys: AMC's The Walking Dead

I think that's a big reason why Kirkman is doing a spin-off. He can create a new story with a bunch of new characters and brutally kill them off. :lol

Anyways about the figures... it's already been said that Rick and Michonne will eventually happen.
