The eyes, nose, and mouth sculpt are pretty much dead on. Only the paint takes away from the likeness. The smaller painted pupils, which should be brought up a more, the 80 percent painted lips... and yes, it is missing some wideness to her face, other than that, a good repaint could get it looking pretty darn close to Mrs. Gellar-Prinze Jr.

I wish her eyes were the right color, but after seeing this close-up of the face, I think I have to have her.

It's just that from greater distance, she doesn't look as good.

I'm starting to like the pose. The more I look at it, the more I can look past the come-hither-pose and what's-for-dinner facial expression and see that this would be so cool on my shelf.

After all, it's the best Buffy figure I've ever seen (not counting customs, willowswarlock over at btvfsfigs is a master in customizing). The PFs have the better likeness, but since those figs' giant ****s take away from the whole fig, this piece wins.

Dammit, I was so sure I would cancel. Now I have to plan my budget and look for a part time job even harder. Which I guess is good for my future, when I finish school and need a full time job and experience to show.

So this is my want list:

*This statue (which with vat, shipping and customs will probably be about 530USD)
*Original art from Twilight's reveal issues (probably 300USD)
*Original art from the first Spike issue (probably 200EURO)

Maybe I should rob that bank...

Thanks for the close up comparrisons. You know what's throwing it off for me? The awful helmet of flat hair. If someone asked Buffy if they could make a statue her requests would be narrow hips and great hair. This is not great hair. It needs to be flowing, long, up... whatever. But this just is off.

The body sculpt is fine, and I think if she were perched on a tomb it would rock but otherwise I stick by the rest of my comments.

And i know the 12" is dead, never to be seen again. I was just expressing a wish.

The nose is way too big,and not as sharp, face shape same thing too chunky though the chin looks right.I was never a fan of SMG..shes too mousey and gahh!..no thanks.

Remind me to never ask you guys to volunteer to be a material eyewitness in a major crime... especially if I'm on trial... lol.
While I'm a big fan of the theme of the piece too, let's be honest, the likeness is like 25% at best.

SMG is an absolutely stunning young woman. While the essence of the slayer character can certainly be pointed out, the figure still doesn't quite capture the essence of the actress, though admitedly some subtle similarities can be seen if we look hard enough or really want to see them -- however, shouldn't the likeness be more plainly evident and generally easier to see? Sadly, IMHO, the only tangible things the statue and SMG ultimately have in common are skin and hair color, approximate age, and relative body shape.

All this to say that it's clearly an immence challenge to produce a piece based on likeness.
While you could never hope for a 100% likeness, you can always hope for something closer to the genuine article.

God dammit.

I was looking over my budget, decided that the statue had to go, went to cancel it, but then I looked at it and couldn't.

Argh!

Come on Sky, don't tease me. I was sick on Thursday night and had to get on the wait list. You're canceling. You're not canceling. This is a little early to be on the "I wonder if I'll get it" roller coaster! :lol

In reality, you have a ton of time to decide whether or not to cancel.

That's true. I should be a bit more sensitive. :monkey3

I guess I could decide once it arrives, if I should open it and or sell.

Of course, I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to buy it from me, considering that shipping would be from Sweden.

i would change the nose (to wide and needs that little flat spot on the top near the end) and add more fullness to the face. it also needs a hint of a smile at the ends of the lips.

i thought SMG was pretty hot in the series - i do not think the face on this sculpt is hot.

The nose is pretty dang on, it's the lighting and paint that is throwing things off. The nostrils can be made a smidgen thinner. Either way, we have to accept it, unless we get a customizer to do some adjustments to it. In the end, it's one friggin' hot, well executed statue, good likeness or not. And Valfar, you aren't a statue collector anyway, so you weren't going to buy this piece no matter how well it turned out. So geeit!

Exactly, especially If you consider the price of this item.

Ironically enough I think facial wise the 12" GD Buffy had a better likeness.

I agree. The nose needs to be pushed in a bit. When that happens the center (underneath part) of the nose will be forced down. Which will be more like Gellar's. Then, the mouth definitely needs to be longer, or stretched out, or whatever. Because they look pursed together. Which is odd. Other than that, she's great!

The wiser half and I watched ep 1.8 of Angel this afternoon. What an amazing episode. It's the one where Angel's blood comes into contact with a Mohra Demon's blood and he becomes human for 24 hours. Buffy guest stars.

I will remember you is one of my VERY favorite episodes of Angel, period.
