Very cool package. Mattel only cares about making money. I get that, but you shouldn't get your core fans upset when those same fans have invested their money in your sub programs and you offer a set with two figures important to the whole line. A repaint like a glowing eyes Lion-o or a glow in the dark Mummy Mumm-ra would have been enough. I am going to have to hopefully secure one on Mattels post SDCC sale and if not prepare to pay scalper prices on eBay.

SDCC started off cool but I dislike it now as its turned so scalper friendly. I do applaud what Mezco does. They give everyone a chance to get what they like. Mattel, Hasbro and to a degree Funko not so much.

For the most part the MOTUC collectibles have been pretty easy to obtain after SDCC on their site. Last year Rotar and Twistoid sold out very quickly, but I think that was because they didn't order enough. Hopefully there will be plenty for everyone when they go on sale in August.

Yeah, the recent press release scares me. They make it sound like it's only available at the con and nowhere else. That had better NOT be the case. Not with main characters like the kittens. That's just not right.

Well for MOTUC they had Orko and also cringer as SDCC exclusives, I never attended SDCC and had no problem getting those at retail prices. I think they just want to make you feel like some of the core members with unique bodies are more exclusive chase, IMO they'll make enough for everybody who wants one on their website for non-attendees.

Finally some answers from Mattel at He-Man.org

Well, that's some relief!
:rock!

Just woke up and Googled this as I couldn't find it on he-man.org. Did you realise this is from a three month old Q&A?

So from what I read you can only or preorder the kittens if you're going to be at Comic-Con

I subscribed to the TC figure line and got nothing in my email about this SDCC exclusive and/or how to pre-order it. Sure, I'm not attending SDCC this year, but Mattel doesn't know that.

Willy Kit and Willy Kat will be available at mattycollector on 18/7.

$60 for kit and kat?? I'm sorry but that's highway robbery for 2 small figures that will undoubtedly arrived with damaged packaging due to poor shipping and handling.

No early bird for subscribers? That sucks. I subbed into the thundercats, I expect to get a crack at the kittens a couple of days earlier.

So let's do the math...

I hate that as a subscriber I'm not getting early bird access to buy these.

divided by:

I hate that Mattel hasn't quieted down fears that the Thundercats line might be cancelled next year, leaving yet another TC line unfinished.

divided by:

I'll hate it if I miss buying this and am stuck with the secondary market.

divided by:

I'll hate it if I miss buying these, get stuck with the secondary market, and then the line gets cancelled anyways.

equals:

I already hate this line, lol

I think that is the biggest issue. Having an incomplete team will really make me regret subbing.

I'm pretty much expecting it to be cancelled at this point. And I'm going to be annoyed that A.) I subbed and B.) I had a friend pre-order the SDCC toys already. I suppose there's always hope 4H could pick up the line to manufacture? Maybe? Sigh.
