Still how much have you made of your ledger joker outfits alone has it ever crossed your mind to get the property rights.

Its not about affording your stuff.

Because you do great work, but you would have nothing if it weren't for other peoples designs and ideas

I don't think you do what you do because you enjoy the hobby

It is funny to say a tailor need to be authorized to make a cloth! :rotfl

I hv ever made G-1 jacket for sideshow , Do you think Sideshow has asked for the US Army pls?

Awesome, another tangent :lol

Seriously though, I'm pretty sure that costume design would be subject to the same copyright laws as character sculpts. Someone had to conceive, develop and produce the costumes that you reproduce. I'm not making accusations here, just pointing out that perhaps your position as a custom tailor might not be any different, license-wise, from Rainman's as a custom sculptor.

Kato is absolutely correct that most clothing would be extremely difficult to copyright or trademark. Other than the pattern on the Joker's shirt, which may or may not have been copyrighted, everything else he wears are standard articles of clothing in a particular colour or pattern.

And as someone inspired by Kato to make my own high-quality 1:6 clothes, I think it is outrageous to suggest he has no enjoyment of the hobby.

I am not sure if you could have made a more laughable assertion.

Other than Head Play, Ada Chan is the only China-based artist that comes to mind. I'm know there are a few others, but almost every other head sculpt artist on these boards is in a developed nation with copyright laws. In fact the majority of heads offered here come from the US and UK. There is no practical barriers if the licence or likeness holders of most properties in question wish to file suit in an anglophone jurisdiction.

the point is that anything that is produce without authentication is copyright infringement.

Either it be a head, clothing of an intellectual property, or a full figure.

There are people here how do unauthorized piece for the love of the hobby and their prices reflect that.
Then their are people who do it solely for the money.

Clever, say what I wrote is "laughable" but offer no actual argument as to why.

Please provide some evidence you can copyright a single-breasted purple overcoat or a green waistcoat the countless other everyday clothing designs used. Unless it has a unique and identifiable element, as in the case of the pattern design of Joker's shirt for example, an exception I took care to note, you have no basis for a copyright for most clothing in films or TV.

Hello.
I want to talk something about this issue,
I don't have interpreter now..I will talk carefully.

I have many korean freinds which are sculptors.
I knew them from when they were children or from amateur.

Some day one of my friends asked me:
.
" i made ball joint doll's body..but some company just casted my body"

" how do you know it's your body.you got any proof?"

"because of the inside of the chest part.i couldn't make the inside smooth totally .And i saw the inside of their chest part is just same as mine."

but they have never admited it till now.
All my friend wants to hear is just "i am sorry" but he has given up already now.

One more.
Another sculptor friend of mine made an actor's head for 12 inch figure.
and he sold the head to someone else.
The guy who bought the head fixed it a little and sold at an expensive price.

My friend knows what the guy did to his head. It has been fix about 50%.

But he can do nothing about his product anymore.

This market has many bad points.
some bad guys know it and they use it for get money.

but we can't touch them.just angry.
only angry.

because we don't have copyright about that.

just i think..
we have to believe conscience of human.

i am thinking with positive mind lately.
"
ayo... ok just cast~~~ you are casting my head because i made good quality head~~"

i am thinking about this issue.

we don't have to fight about this.(if fhighting)
noboddy can talk personal opinion.
I am not sure about if it's 100% copied.
but we have to know the passion of sculptors and we have to say "this is worng to copy guys

This is my opinion too

I'm glad no one has been rude enough to cast your heads yet Rainman. If that ever happens I'm going to be super mad as an avid collector of your work. Lets hope that does not happen.

Regarding the issue it's all been said already, my opinion though a tweaked sculpt does not make it's tweaker the new owner of it. It's the artistic property of the first person who sculpted it.

Get back to work, Rainman! Keep making your art. When the property owners have a problem with it, they (or their attorneys) will contact you! lol And if they don't, then keep on keepin' on! Cheers.

dchung's suckass comparison of a terrorist and a carjacker was laughably inaccurate at best.

Because it went over your head? Let's try again:
"A thief is a thief." Your statement, indeed it's very syntactical structure, implies a reflexive equivalency. I gave two examples of thieves that are clearly not equivalent. You missed this point, and came up with what you believe is a more appropriate analogy. Okay, fine... let's use yours.

Terrorist One steals a bomb from Terrorist Two. Both are terrorists. Equivalency, you say? But what if I told you Terrorist One only blows up buildings that have been condemned and evacuated, while Terrorist Two intends to blow up fully-occupied hospitals...? Still think they're equivalent?

All terrorists are not created equal. And neither are all thieves. Nor are all customizers.

And if your point is that we're both thieves. Duh, I conceded that at the beginning. Pay attention.
