My 10 and 12 year olds really want me to take them to see this. I'm on the fence. I took them to "Clock in the Wall" (PG) and they were creeped out at parts. They didn't sleep well that night. I know Hollywood reduced the anticipated rating so there is sure to be swearing and violence...what violence I've seen so far isn't too far off some other comic book movies though. I told them I know they swear when I'm not around and I don't like it, and taking them to a movie with swearing would seem like I'm condoning it. At the same time, I'm foolish if I was to think they aren't hearing worse on the school yard or saying stuff themselves.

So I made them promise to work on not swearing in exchange for taking them. Still not sure if I'm doing the right thing though. I know it won't be Deadpool level stuff (which I won't let them see for several more years). I guess I'll take them and once we have seen it, have a talk about anything that was inappropriate for their age. I know I saw materials with ****s and occasional swearing at their age, and I knew to consider it in context then. Fingers crossed I'm not making a bad parenting decision.

Only over a week to go before muh hard R Venom buries the Fiege and the MCU for good. Cry plebs cry. :lecture

I’m more strict with swearing than gore. :lol

F word, hell no not allowed!

Robocop getting his arms blown off, hell yeah enjoy it son! :lol

So this movie is just UPGRADE but with Venom instead of a computer chip.

Ok as bad as that “heads” joke was at the 30 second mark i’m not going to lie, I still laughed lol

At least it’s better than DP1 humor.

Rated R right lol

I’m also starting to understand now why they made him a ******** simpleton as a contrast to the Venom personality you can see it start to play out in these clips.

Lol

So funny. My parents never stopped us from watching anything when we were little, violence, gore, whatever. But we knew better than to repeat what was said or happening on TV. I remember some of my friends and even cousins were not allowed to watch The Simpsons growing up and they turned out to be awful adults. :lol

Love the look of Venom, not a fan of the voice. Might as well have subtitles when he speaks.

hehe I haven't let them watch Robocop yet even though I want to. I'll have to watch it soon to refresh what I was worried about as it was a couple years ago I told myself "not yet".

I think a coaching talk before we go in and after will be enough. I'm not super worried about anything I've seen in the trailers. It's nice that they know I follow the Venom books and want to do something with their dad to make it an "us" thing. I was really looking forward to a more mature Venom movie, but I think it's smart on their part to have a theatrical release that makes it more "adoptable" later by Disney if things go that way.

People that curse in public really irritate me it’s one of my pet peeves in life.

I know at the end of the day they’re just silly words but for me it shows a lack of character and respect for social decorum especially when done in the presence of children.

Saying the F word continuously with your friends while on line at a fast food restaurant with kids nearby makes me angry and you wouldn’t like me when i’m angry or charge $85 for a 6” action figure.

I’m no prude either cursing online is not an issue for me nor is cursing in a controlled respectful manner. Cursing is all about location location location.

Funny enough nudity is not a big thing in my family especially since my wife is ummm shall I say very curious.

Girl walks by in daisy dukes or a nude beach no biggie.

Janet Jackson nipple pops out for 30 seconds no biggie and also yuck. :lol

But shut your immature mouth with those public F bombs for **** sake!

Hey guys. Remember when this was gonna be hard R and start a hard R universe. Well a quote from avi arad says it was never considered

To me, R is not a consideration,"Can you get away with not R so that other people can see? So that younger people can see? I made an animated show. There was a lot of Venom in there. It was in '94. There's no reason to put in violence. To define what Venom is as violence. He's not. He's the lethal protector, which is a very different thing. We want to be really true to the comics. Today, in CGI and stuff, we can make Venom bite your head. But we don't have to show the head going side to side like, 'that actually tastes good.' It's irrelevant. What's relevant is that you finally understood, is that a bad guy? Yeah.

Man I want to see snikts face after all the crap that’s been happening. He probably locked himself in the gym. Lol this news makes everything he ever said in this thread even funnier.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

I can't wait to hear who he'll be facing.

Imagine somehow they land McConaughey as Kasady. I mean ****, at that point does Venom suddenly become a more anticipated CBM than Infinity War?

Lol my sides hurt reading his post. I miss this guy

Fox is releasing DP2 back into theaters at PG-13 because the turn out for the R version was much weaker than they were hoping for.

So now little kids can go watch DP2 curse lol.

R rated box office certainly made a comeback but it won’t work everytime.

Sorry Snikt lol

Everyone blaming Disney not realizing DP2 made less than DP on a higher budget lol

Isn't the worldwide box office over $700 million? Movie cost around $110 million to make, so even after doubling they're still doing pretty well.

Seems more likely that they're testing the waters for Disney to put out PG-13 DP movies from here on out.

Holy crap I looked it up and you're right. And they're adding scenes so that the PG-13 version is a bedtime story DP reads to adult Fred Savage a la The Princess Bride. :lol

This is gonna be fun. Dumb parents are gonna be confused and wind up letting their little ones watch the wrong version of DP2... :slap

I can see the angry backlash already.... Lot's of clueless parents out there that are shocked then cry bloody murder instead of realizing/admitting they are idiots.
