No **** Sherlock, Marvel had to just to survive complete bankruptcy

Actually, the idea of live-action Marvel adaptations predates the bankruptcy debacle by a decade. Cameron tried making a live-action X-Men movie after The Terminator but couldn't convince Carolco to buy the rights from Marvel - who were more than willing to move forward with the sale despite doing fantastic with book sales. They were always trying to get into film. [Viable] Studio heads just thought it was a terrible idea to adapt those characters.

The problem today is that the masses are being brainwashed into thinking "Marvel Studios" means "Marvel". Marvel Studios is a DISNEY Film division. They're just another studio like FOX, SONY, Universal & LGF.

"Bring them home" is a moronic online expression that stems from a lack of knowledge on this subject.

The closest we got to Marvel Studios = Marvel was when IM & TIH were to be made independently. In the end though Paramount and Universal chipped in, and Paramount ended up taking the reigns until Disney made the purchase.

But yeah, the "homes" of these characters are the respective studios that purchased them decades ago and have been developing them since. SONY remains Spider-Man's home. Disney just gets to use him in their films.

Calling it now. First cbm to win Best Picture. Brilliance in the making...

The statement "Bring them home" refers to the rights reverting back to their owners and creators, the people who actually care about the characters more than them just being a commodity and means for money making. So Marvel/Disney is their true home, not the companies that purchased the "rights" to use the characters. They didn't buy ownership. Sony and Fox are the ones borrowing the characters. They still pay Marvel/Disney to keep those rights. Their contract allows them too as long as they keep producing movies, hence why we get rushed crap films (Hence F4 & the ASM crap) so they don't lose the rights.

Be careful. You're making too much sense lol. This sums it up nicely.

1. Disney/Marvel Studios is absolutely making these films as a means to make money. They are writing the book on how to make safe big budget popcorn for the whole family in an effort to sell more tickets. They are not the "creators" of any of these characters nor give a **** about them. If they can't even sell their characters to audiences they outright dump 'em on crap TV (Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Cloak and Dagger, The Inhumans, etc).

2. Kevin Feige is a PRODUCER. He's not an artist or comic writer. Just a suit. A suit that 20 years ago was Lauren Donner's assistant (she's the producer of all the X-Men movies who secured the rights to them in the 90s). Feige is in no way "a true owner" of all things Marvel. He's just a Disney suit.

3. ASM wasn't made to keep the rights. Laura Ziskin (RIP) genuinely wanted to keep making great SM films and came to the conclusion that Raimi and Arad weren't getting along so she pushed for a reboot where they could take Peter back to high school. The result was a damn good movie that opened up a whole new SM franchise. Unfortunately after she passed, Arad alone and the studio hoping to replicate the success of The Avengers bulldozed through Webb's proposed trilogy in hopes of delivering an "event" movie that would rival an Avengers movie. The studio was wrong obviously because ASM2 was not an event movie but rather a cluster****.

In summary, "Bring them home" makes no God damn sense.

Sony did produce the best Spidey movie to date: Spider-Man 2.

:yess:

Yea.... then everything after. The studio are hacks and almost killed the brand. Raimi is responsible for spidey 2 not Sony . Also fiege had a hand in it.

Don't even bother arguing with the guy. Dude genuinely thinks Disney is "home" to all Marvel properties. Dude missed the part about Marvel selling their heroes to various film studios 20 years ago and Disney just FIVE years ago purchasing the MCU from Paramount.

Lol Dude loves the bull**** "Bring 'em home" line in regards to Disney purchasing characters which is hilarious because the true home to Spider-Man is Columbia Pictures/SONY and has been since the idea of a live-action Spider-Man movie was proposed to them by James Cameron.

Yea cause marvel is the there home Special one.

Your wishful thinking of a hard r Spider-Man verse is absolutely silly. Spider-Man is a marvel property first. It doesn’t belong to Sony . People have proven you wrong so I guess you’ll gloss over it.

O yea the amazing amazing Spider-Man was rushed into production to keep the rights smart one. Why do you think they did t take there to make it. They didn’t even form a decent story, it was the same **** with less interesting characters. Avi arad was a bitter old hack who wanted to keep the rights to Spider-Man and so he almost ruined the franchise.
The simple fact that you have faith in a studio after they messed up three times shows you don’t care about the character you just have so hard grudge for marvel. Nobody wants Spider-Man back at Sony .
Now go write more snoke fanfics. Your def gonna need to lmao

That idiot Arad man. If it wasnt for arad and sony we wouldn't have had venom shoved down our throats in sm3 and would've gotten to sm4 with other villains. And who knows beyond that. They screwed up. Plain and simple.

Pretty much. He’s the one who forced the whole silly spidey verse thing in amazing Spider-Man 2 and shoved all this **** in the movie. It was arad who opted to reboot Spider-Man instead of putting him in the mcu. Almost killing the brand off. It’s arad who is pushing for this movie. So being skeptical is a must.

So if your a spidey fan and trust Sony than it truly baffles me. The miles movie looks cool but Sony could still ruin it. Don’t know where this hard r crap is coming from.

Like I said. Bring em all home. To marvel where they belong.

Hey man, I don't know much about anything when it comes to this movie stuff. All my friends tell me the MCU is awesome, so it probably is. I don't like all of their movies though. But I'm not gonna be a pain about it, you know? Like, so what if it's not perfect? I wouldn't know "perfect" anyway. So yeah, MCU should have all the Marvel dudes. Even though I don't think the movies will be all that. But that's fine. I guess. You know what I mean. Still not watching Ant-Man 2. That's okay, right?

I don't care.

You seem to have missed what led to the reboot of Spider-Man by Sony in the 1st place. Spider-Man 1 & 2 were big successes. They were liked by both fans & critics and made money. Spider-Man 2 is still hailed as one of the best CBM's to date. The 1st 2 were made under the guise and leadership of Raimi, who was a life long fan and loved the character. When he started Spider-Man 3 and it was in pre production, the Sony execs stepped in and forced Raimi to include Venom. Raimi wasn't a fan of the character and didn't want him in the movie, but he was forced to include him into the storyline. After the movie was panned, but still made money, the Sony execs asked Raimi to stay on for a 4th. The entire cast agreed to come back for Spidey 4 "If" Raimi was on board as the director and lead on the story. Raimi was to be given control once again. The movie was to focus on the Vulture, but once again Sony stepped in and wanted to turn the character into a young female rather than the classic character everyone knew. After Sony's interference in Spidey 3, Raimi refused to make the changes, and thus walked away. The entire cast followed suit.

The creative differences Raimi had had with Sony was public knowledge, so Sony couldn't continue with Spider-Man 4. Sony now needed to scramble to find an entirely new creative team and cast as much time had lapsed between Spider-man 3 and Raimi working on Spidey 4. Sony needed to continue to release a Spider-Man movie within a specified timeline or lose the rights as they would revert back to Marvel. They had no choice but to reboot it, hence why it was the shortest period ever for a movie to receive a reboot. ASM wasn't as rushed as Fox's F4, but still, the clock was ticking.
