I'm still really baffled about the whole motivation behind a Venom movie that doesn't involve or have as its basis Spidey. He's not an intrinsically interesting character. That's like making a Batzarro movie outside of the Batman universe.

Gotta agree with you. Hardy is wasted on Venom. I'd much rather see him as Wolverine.

Sony is just trying to beat Feige to the punch. I don't think they really care about how it will/won't work. I was originally open to the idea of giving this movie the benefit of the doubt but I honestly don't think Sony has a clue.
