this is an origin story :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

There's confirmation of this being an origin story for Venom. Or of anything. You think you're watching the beginning of Brock's time with the symbiote but it could very well be a decade into it.

All we know is the comic the film is based on, where Brock goes to San Francisco to live a life where he's not a Spidey villain. Then when the threat of multiple symbiotes running around wreaking havoc comes about he's forced to become an anti-hero.

The comics Fleischer adapted are not origin stories so we shouldn't assume the film is.

There was this really ugly venom toy I had as a kid that came with a comic book. Venom looked like a freaking duck. He was ugly and you can see Eddie Brock in his mouth. Worst design ever.
Toy biz made them

This one?

All those old toy pics are hilarious, I still have my old Toy Biz Venom that had black goo you could push through a hole in his chest lol. At the very least I hope this movie has good designs so HT can make a cool Venom to go with Spidey

I really don't understand why you release a trailer without at least a decent tease of Venom. I trust Tom Hardy and his acting, but I'm not seeing anything special so far.

How about the one with a talking feature that says "I wanna eat yo brainz"? :lol

I liked the Venom that could stick his tongue out.

Venom as a hero is stupid.

Antihero maybe....but no, mostly stupid.
If they come at it like the symbiot and he are fighting each other for control, like a possession , and he looses , them that might be ok.

This thread got awesome after I fell asleep! :lol

Toy Biz has stoked my interest in Venom more than that Lifetime Original trailer.

Except it is an origin story. You see the symbiote crssh and everything. Just like ur snoke theory this one is dead on arrival to.

Also stop comparing it to Logan . Sony is to stupid to make a movie like that. They don’t have the thought process to build an interesting universe. That’s why they are pushing for this to be in the mcu to trick movie goers into watching .

lol wow I didn't remember that one! I might've seen it in store, I wish I had it back then because the goo one is the same design but with a giant plug in his back haha

lol "Tardy" :lol, one could say that's how Sony is being with revealing Venom's look.

You're assuming he didn't, and with the poster they released you shouldn't assume that at all. Venom looks like Venom which means the Symbiote already took traits from Spider-Man.

My guess is they're gonna pull a Logan and keep Brock's origin with the symbiote as a past event only referenced at times (like the death of the X-Men in Logan).

Perhaps Riz Ahmed's "Life" company seeks out Brock to help him rid himself of the demon. The trailer shows Brock is back in San Francisco, which in the comic is where he went after he ended his feud with Parker.

People keep thinking this will be a complete reinvention of Venom but most of the info that's been released goes against that.

I stand by my original theory that this movie (along with Silver and Black, Morbius and Scarlet Spider) takes place in a universe where Spider-Man quit a while back. Probably 10 years. This makes the relationship between Brock and the symbiote incredibly complex because they're basically one now (#WeAreVenom) and Venom is going to be forced to actually engage in acts of heroism due to Parker's absence.

You are putting WAAAAAYY too much passion and thought into this movie. It's Sony. This is only being made for money. Not for any kind of love for the character or franchise. No one involved has any true passion. You are literally setting yourself up for a BIG letdown. I literally got nothing from that trailer as to a clue as to how this movie will play out. I hope your right, but I'm prepared for a good laugh and lot's of flaming when this movie comes out.

She is completely clueless as to why her (Sony's Marvel) movies have failed......
