Nobody wants this to fail. It’s a venom movie. Venom is awesome. But you have to be a complete moron to put 100 percent faith in Sony and expect Oscar worthy filmmaking after 3 bad spidey films under there watch and an emoji movie. Are you kidding me? Could care less about the mcu. I’m skeptical as hell about anything these idiots make from my favorite hero. And that trailer didn’t change my mind. Looked like a Netflix movie.

I wasnt even on the hate train for Venom before the trailer, I joked but I was just waiting for the trailer.

The 4chan leaks is what made me go full hate mode. we are going to get a 2 minute venom... thats obvious.

Thats coming from the same people that did this

Meh, I'll give a chance to anything superhero related that's not a part of the Disneyerse at this point. The whole MCU feels like watching the same damn movie over and over but don't tell that to the shills...I mean critics.

It’s funny cause I use to defend asm to death. I told myself it’s gonna get better and that marvel make sucky movies to. Until asm2 came out and crapped on everything. Sony was hacked and leaked awful plans for the franchise and that’s when fans got fed up including me. How anyone can say this film is going to be Oscar worthy after what happened needs to check in to a ward.

If the movie surprises me and I’d good then great I’ll eat my words. I’d love a cool looking venom

If you hate 21-year-olds enough, you can convince yourself that almost anything with an older lead character is better.

The problem with this thread is that it attracts people who think the MCU makes good films. This film is a threat to that ideology so their naturally response is to attack it. The same thing happened with Trank's FF. Sadly, the studio listened to the aforementioned people and butchered the movie in the process.

If Venom is great, it'll just be a slap in the face to the people who worship the MCU. Like Logan & Deadpool were.

I admire your faith in certain projects, but don't understand why you feel people who like the Marvel MCU movies must not enjoy good cinema or understand what a good movie is. Obviously it's hard for you to be able separate good FUN family movies, from DEEP intellectual cinema. It is possible to be a fan of both.

Deadpool was such a FUN film. It is neither deep or intellectual. Logan to me was meh. I dislike all the Foxmen and haven't paid to see a movie since X-Men 3. I passed on both Deadpool & Logan in the theaters and watched them at home. Deadpool was fun and enjoyable cause they actually played to the characters sillyness. It was far from perfect or great. Ryan Reynolds is what made the movie. So it worked. Fox felt they were taking a big gamble, which proved how wrong and out of touch they were. It's success had nothing to do with it being "R", but being true to the character which by nature would work best with an R rating. Logan was nothing special for me. In fact I don't have the urge to own it or watch it again. It was predictable and had yet another Wolverine clone as his foil. Boring. I don't get the passion people have for the film at all, other than it was "R" with lots of violence and Wolverine at his best. For me it was just a what if or alternate future film. It was Ok.

Fox thinks it's the R rating that made these films successful, hence the ridiculous forthcoming horror New Mutants that hardly anyone wants or will even recognize on screen as part of the Fox Xverse. It's a dumb idea, just as their hard mature FF movie that was an utter failure.

Sony is just as confused. A movie universe based on Spider-Man villains, without Spider-Man. It could possibly work, but need to be done by people who understand the characters, not just a cash grab or a need to keep making films as to maintain the rights to these characters. That's all the motivation Sony has behind this.

I think Logan is a great movie. Bit o think deadpool is vastly overrated only because so much of its humor grows stale very easily and not even a bunch of it really stuck the first time but it was a fun film.

MCU has several great films imo. Iron man, winter soldier, Avengers, gotg, and civil war all are imo. I hope black panther is too.

The rest are mostly all decent to pretty good. A few do suck.

I don't know what more people are looking for. I love Logan but I'd re-watch the more fun marvel film's before researching Logan or deadpool.

It was R-rated which makes it a masterpiece of groundbreaking cinema that permanently evolved soft core **** into the respected Oscar bait that it is today. Lionsgate never wanted you to think that they were simply cashing in on smutty Twilight fan-fiction...because they weren't.

I haven't yet completed the full body rotation I'm in from the force of the slap. I estimate another 2 months before I can face toward my laptop again without having to awkwardly have my head turned to see my screen.

:lol

Weren't you the one who mentioned that the Solo trailer at least didn't start with the cliche slow piano? I thought of that the first time I watched this one.

I actually really liked it. :lol
Very cool design.

The only thing I hate is how OTT Paul Giamatti was.
I'm all in for Paul Giamatti in anything but this was just not the right way to adapt the character for live action.

I thought you hated this. Remember the asm 2 thread? I thought you said it looked like a transformer

I don't care for this banter so just my two cents.

I like the idea of an anti-hero Venom film where Carnage is the villain. I like the idea of it bein' an origin story, but only if it explains the Spider-Man relation in some way (like a fast-forward montage or flashbacks). I like the idea of it bein' an action-horror film. I like the casting of Tom Hardy har har.

That said, I have ZER0 faith in the project. I don't expect anything good because of SONY's awful track record and the only thing I can get excited about is seein' bulky live-action Venom.

you see 30 seconds of venom then end credits roll :woo

If that is true, this just keeps sounding lamer and lamer.

I want this movie to be good as much as the next guy, but right now I couldn't be more jaded.

I think it is. it makes sense. most of the movie will focus on Venom and on Hardy becoming him. it all makes sense.

They are trying to make a "Cronicle" kinda movie it seems. This definitely sounds like the last Fantastic Four movie it all is adding up

Lol I can't wait to see anyone defend a movie a Venom with no Venom. If all this is true then Sony just handed the rights to marvel on a silver platter. A venomless trailer, rumors of venom not being in this for only like two mins. Sounds awful. I hope I'm wrong.
