If this is true, then this is going to be awful. Why did Tom Hardy agree to do this movie? The guy's a really good actor, imo. Like you guys are saying, hopefully this is the nail in the coffin for Sony and anything to do with Spiderman, the rights go back to Marvel and the symbiote comes to Peter in Avengers 4, there's a movie (or 2) where Peter wears the black costume, and Venom can actually develop organically (no pun intended) over time.
$$$$$$$$
I think Hardy is very talented. Based on the trailer/rumors/Sony track record, I don't know how he got mixed up in this. His involvement is the only thing that gives me any hope that there might be an interesting nugget in the script. But at the same time, actors are often helpless against the rule of the studio once productions starts. Even Hugh Jackman couldn't help what happened with Origins.
Lots of $$$$$$.... And everyone want's a piece of the comic box office, good or bad it seems..
I don't know why people like Hardy so much. I think I've only seen him in 3 movies I recognize him from. "TDKR" as Bane which he sucked/the character sucked. "Mad Max Fury Road" as Mad Max which he was ok in, but hardly the on screen star Charlize Theron was. And "Star trek Nemesis" which wasn't very good, but I guess he was ok as the baddy Picard clone or whatever he was. The only other movie I have interest in seeing is "Dunkirk", and maybe eventually the comedy "This Means War" as I've always liked Reese Witherspoon .
I also noticed in his bio he was in "Black Hawk Down" & HBO's "Band of Brothers", both of which I loved, but I have no recollection of his character in either the movie or the HBO series.
But whatever, some of you peeps seem to think he's the greatest.
I think he's a really good actor, but he's not great. Standouts I've seen are from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Mad Max. His role in Band of Brothers was really small as I recall (I watched it about a year and a half ago). There were some other, now well known actors in small cameos like James McAvoy.
