It's just a hobby. There are trillions of people around the world who collect old stamps and coins which sounds really stupid to me...

The big difference is that those things are not childish things. Coins and stamps and "adult" things.

Toys... Are kids things. They are little plastic people with little joints that move and little clothes you can put on...

Even hot toys are just dolls to normal people. Kids dolls. Stamps to normal people are just stamps. Coins are just coins

Even statues get more respect than toys. Statues cant be played with and don't have clothes. Statues to normal people are like art pieces

Toys aren't. Toys are kids play Things

I think if anything, people have been saying that they don't give two ****s what others think. I don't respect nerd statue collectors any more than those who collect action figures. Besides, what wrong with collecting dolls?

There's nothing "adult" about buying stuff you didn't make only to display it.

I'm buyin' figures of characters because when I look at them they remind me of something important to me. I'm buyin' 1/6 scale high end dolls because it makes me feel closer to the character than a static poorly painted figurine. There's a very personal and well thought reason for doin' this and it's not less "adult" than payin' for a one-time viewing of some dumb movie on a big screen.

I'm only explaining how people see it.
That's just how normies see toys. They don't care that ur doll cost 200 bucks. They don't care that it is from your favorite movie
They just see a dollie
A kids dollie. Because that's my point. Normies think toys are made for kids. The purpose of toys is for kids to play. ( well that's how people see it)

I'd say you are right in that people generally associate the term "toy" with kids. You've used the term "doll" or "dollie" a few times now. Are you hoping to get a rise out of people by saying this? I'm not sure there is something demeaning by the term doll. Maybe I'm just massively confused by the way your wording portrays. If so, forgive me.

If your movie collection was nothing but cartoons and Disney movies and u owned nothing but cartoons and my little pony DVDs and that was your hobby. To buy and watch monster high and little pony stuff

I'm sure regular people will see that as being weird. Lol.

But if cartoons is what you like then it is what u like.

I say dollies because they have real clothes.
Action figures have plastic clothing.
The moment you put real clothes on it, it technically becomes a "doll"
Because clothing makes it a doll in peoples minds

The 1st time i brought me girlfriend over and showed her my collection i said something about my friends sometimes teasing me about my dolls and she laughed and said "i had a bunch of dolls growing up and these are not dolls".

Ok. So it's a doll. What's wrong with that?

Hopefully this isn't going to lead into yet another figure vs doll debate. There's already a thread for that and who cares?
