Toxic Avenger remake

In perhaps the strangest news I've read today. Apparently the guy who made Hot Tub Time Machine is attached to direct a remake of the Toxic Avenger from a script he co-wrote starring John Travolta. It gets better. They have plans to make it a family friendly franchise that is an environmentally conscious action comedy.

You know, this freaked me out as a kid. As did Mutant League, Tales from the Crypt and Ren and Stimpy.

I wonder if this means Toxic Crusader toys will see a revamp?
