Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

On a related note, what do you think of Darth Vader's mask being painted with silver sections just so it shows up better on film? Do you think that a replica should also have parts painted silver, or do you think that it should be all black, because that is what people expect? After all, is Darth Vader REALLY going to have parts of his mask painted silver just so it could show off the shape of his mask in order that people could better take pictures of him? I would be curious to hear your viewpoint on this.

On the 1/6 figure Sideshow used some grey to simulate the silver, but went more for how it looked on screen, rather than the brighter silver it may have been on set. I think they made a successful compromise.

I received it and...it has a bad paint :/

I never would have perceived these spots as problem areas, just un-uniform weathering (and I'd say that "uniform" weathering defeats the purpose). I guess I should examine mine more closely to see if I should be upset.

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

My Batwing gets delivered tomorrow. Hopefully, no problems with it. We'll see. I'll post pics tomorrow night.

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

Im having mine painted red :yess:

Chris

Are you ordering more than one? Will it be Scuderia Red, Rosso Corsa, Guards Red, Boyd's Red, or candy apple red? Those are the best reds, IMHO.

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

your kidding. right?

He likes collecting exotic car models. It wouldn't surprise me if he DID have it painted red. Frankly, I think a dark metallic blue might look best on this car, if one was to go for a totally different color. Gold would look great, too.

To Armored_Berzerk,
If you had the right color model spray paint, I think this would be a fairly easy fix if you have the skills. Just mask off the surrounding areas and fog it in, by misting it from the right distance on order to add just enough color to the area, and cover up the water spot like areas the same way. You wouldn't paint it thick or solid all the way up to the masking you would use, just staying a few centimeters away, with a gradual fade to the nice paint area with the spray paint. If needed, you could dry brush some of the weathering how you want it. What bothers me most about the paint is that the overall texture of the paint is out of scale, like it has really severe orange peel at that scale, whereas in the movie, I seem to recall it being totally smooth and flat like the paint on the Stealth fighter aircraft. That would be a tremendous amount of work to sand it down properly with ultra fine paper, like 3000, or 2500 maybe.

If i were Armored Berserk i would NOT attempt this. a good suggestion for someone that has experience, but i'm affraid he's gonna bight off more than he can chew. It's much easier said than done...and if incorrectly executed, he's running the risk of damaging the piece further.

Yes, it's something you really need experience with painting to do properly. Also, it occurred to me that they might have used a grey paint over the black for the weathering, instead of gently removing the black with solvent.

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

Well, got my Batwing unboxed and the first thing I notice is that the top left fin on top of the fuselage is bent to far to the left. ____!!! HAIRDRYER!!! Got out the hairdryer and hit it with some heat, applied pressure up and down the fin to straighten it and then dumped the fin in ice cold water and got it straight again. I may repeat this process again just to be sure. Looks fine now but may need another treatment. Have to be real careful or it will snap. I about had a friggin' heart attack when I saw that. Oh, well. I think we got it fixed. First pics below...

How is the paint on yours?

Very, very well done. No streaks or bad clumps of paint. Good highlights and good painting overall. I lucked out. I got the fins straightened so I am keeping it. I cannot seem to get the little pins that fasten the clear canopy to the cockpit to come out. Damn it. My hope of putting in a Batman figure may have gone bust too.

Congrats :clap I hope i'll get a good batwing like yours

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

I wanted to try to get a Batman figure in it too.
But when I saw it how it was attached I didn't even try to get the canopy of.

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

Thanks.

Now I'll have to try find my boxes with old toys :p

but one question I saw the inside paint of the cowl was damaged or looked it just that way?

actually yes it chipped when I put in the base , easy fix just black paint will do it :)

Re: Toynami/Cinemaquette presents: BATWING & (coming soon) BATMOBILE.

Ah ok mine had the same issue and I got 100$ back from BBTS.

from that money I sended it to a proffesional statue restore company.

They restored the Cowl great.

hey buddy it's not that hard , you can do it, check out my review

I used your video as a manual Raf to try this but I'm pretty sure those pins are glued in on my Batwing. You and Jed must have had loose pins, unglued. I cannot get mine to budge at all. Sucks too as I painted up a Toy Biz Batman figure to go in the cockpit. I'll try again but I don't want to ____ this bird up.

hey bud use the thin hobbie knife (blade). once it passes the glue just wiggle it out don't be afraid if the paint Comes off the head of the pin, a bit a black paint is all you need to fix and very simple you can do it , also the don't all go straight in some go in at an angle which makes it feel like they are in too tight but just find the right angle to pull out and you will be fine good luck
