Re: Transformers 3 Announced For 2011
Definitely some freaks in there!
Definitely some freaks in there!
Rosie was far from the worst in the cast... she was surprisingly good. Her character didn't have much to do, but what she had to do - she did just fine. Better than Fox.
Didn't hurt that she looks pretty damn amazing, either.
Very true, I didnt think Tyrese or Duhamel did a good job this time. So Rosie gets a pass on this one
and that annoying CIA agent was over acting in every scene
My review. Just got back with the kids. And I understand many people like it. That is fine, but nonetheless here is my point of view and opinion.
Um....first let me say anyone who thinks this is a 10 out of 10 film and the most epic best movie of the summer, had to be delusional and the 10 year old fanboy inside them is in complete denial.
You'd think all of us on this board are seasoned movie watchers, and by now can at least tell what parts of a movie are good and what parts are not good. You should be able to honestly be able to pick out, what makes good acting, good script, good pacing, good dialogue etc, compared to bad ones, just by example for when you do truly see a GOOD movie done right. If they got to the POINT sooner, it would have been a better more tightly packaged movie.
Yet, I will have buddies of mine defend every aspect of this movie. They will tell me the reason we need to see Sam going through 20 minutes of job interviews is to show his transition from a boy to a man. Really? REALLY? We really need to see this in a movie about giant robots battling each other on earth?
Anyway, first of all the movie was way too long. And I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw the two little robots busting out stupid humor from the get go. Or when I saw the robot that looked like Albert Enstein...really??? You'll hear me talk about the much of the same complaints as other movie goers with an ubiased review. I'm not here to bash the movie, but to be honest with what I saw and my views.
So yes, it was way too long. I had to check my watch to notice that at least an hour went by with nothing but wasted time, terrible humor, unncessary sequences, and actors I felt embarrassed for that they were in this movie - Malkovich, Francis McDormand. And actors that just baffled me as to why they needed to be in this movie - McDreamy, and the asian guy from Hangover films. And omg, that scene with him in the bathroom and then later in his office, when he pulls out the guns...my god does humor get any worse then this? Especially when the movie TRYS to feel like it's something serious and epic, like using the footage of JFK and real footage of the Nasa stuff at the beginning.
What else was the same old tricks of Bay? Oh, the hot, but talentless actress parading around in skimpy outfits the whole movie comes to mind. Obvious and annoying product placement advertising - Ok we get it...everyone uses LENOVO monitors and CISCO network equipment. Geez...
The silly gay guy who suddenly becomes a kick ass fighter? Mom and Dad stuff was stupid as well. Been there, done that.
The humor was just....dreadful and painfully embarassing.
Was this ALL worth it, to watch the final hour of the movie? Yes, the effects were pretty cool and the battles and the 3D. But is that alone to save the movie? Is that enough to constitute what is considered a well made movie? Did I need to see through 90 minutes before any of that began to happen? I don't think so.
Some good action sequences? The freeway chase was impressive. Most of the final battle was impressive.
I also liked that they toned down the miltary infomerical that was the first two movies. And I loved the fact they used other car makers other then an advertisment for Chevy cars only. The ferrari was pretty hot, and the Mercedes too. And overall it was better than the crap that was TF2.
And just like Green Lantern. Yes, ask my 10 year old boys, and they LOVED it. I was once a 10 year old boy watching and loving this cartoon in the mid 80's. For me I guess, some things are just better off left in the past.
Perhaps for me, the best part of the whole time there was the new trailer for Captain America, which that trailer alone was better then the whole movie. That trailer kicked ASS, and with the TOOL music...awesome.
This movie was kiunda awesome. I really enjoyed it more than the second although the first one is still the best to me. Sentinal was pretty cool. If you went to see transformers looking for a deep story and deep character's then your in the wrong movie. Transformer's is nothing but fun.

And using a good amount of swear words to try to remind us, or make us feel like this is a grown ups movie, was unnecessary too.

Please forward this to your friend Solidsnake and the other 12 year old preteens in this thread who think this movie was the best of the summer.
I don't deny that the effects were great, as it was in the first 2 movies. And the "nostalgia" of actually seeing transformers on the big screen with modern technology is awesome....but Michael Bay absolutely ruined the franchise imo.
The designs are awesome, so on that note, I say leave the Transformers aesthetics as is. These ones look believable. Having said that, this third one seemed a lot more hollow and one dimensional than the other two. Best movie of the Summer? Well technically I don't think SolidSnake is far off there. Summer Solstice is June 21st, so we were only like several days into Summer when the movie officially came out. So I can see how someone could say it's the best, THUS FAR, but definitely not even a blip on the radar in terms of better films this year. As technical movies go, this one blows me away more than Avatar. Yes, I just went there. Do I like it more than Avatar? Absolutely not, but wow did the visuals blow me away. I guess I love how detailed these machines look and how great ILM is at making these big tin cans look realistic and believable in our world.
The humor (too forced this time), the abundance of "WTF?!" moments, and way over usage of super models (can't believe that would be a bad thing just didn't seem believable), hurt the film for me. Like others said before me, you were left with not caring as much as the first two. Having said that, I do go in expecting good campy popcorn movie fun and Michael Bay's Transformers is definitely that, so it was definitely serviceable in entertaining me.
Also Nash, everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how far fetched or ill conceived it maybe.
