I think the "clone" issue might be bay's version of the classic hasbro strategy.....REPAINTS:)

A nod to the generic background Seekers in the G1 cartoon or Hasbro's policy of repaints are the two most obvious explanations.

I'd actually like to see an all new villain or villains to be created for the 3rd movie as whilst the nods to G1 can work effectively it is getting a bit boring seeing the same old characters rehashed or referenced in each new incarnation of Transformers.

Yeah, but then you get everyone whining, "Why make new people when existing ones could take their place?" You know it would happen. You can never satisfy everyone.

That's true but I think Michael Bay has already shown he's not afraid to change things as he sees fit and as the hardcore fans only make up a tiny minority of the total audience then I wouldn't be at all suprised if the third part went in a different direction than the expected Unicron scenario.

Yeah your probably right. I was mainly think about comic book stuff (especially the reaction to Drift). Plus I guess some of the new characters from the first 2 movies were cool, like Blackout.

i don't care who is in it as long as I can actually see what is going on this time. Just don't put the camera so close to the action that I have no idea what is going on. I guess it would be too much to ask for a good story this time? :)

but if i had my pic, i'd definitely go with the Dinobots, Shockwave, the aerialbots, Soundwave in robot form, and more Cybertron.

Pertaining to the ruins battle, I think the correct movie term is "Continuity Error". :) Its not clones, its sloppy editing, like day & night scenes being mixed together (which happens in BOTH movies). You dont see people try to explain it off as a "mid-day solar eclipse." :D Bay is NOTORIOUS for this kind of stuff.

I think the camera angles for the fights were somewhat better in ROTF but they were still far too close for shots where the camera pans round the robot as it transforms such as Ironhide's right at the beginning of the movie.

There's amazing detail put into each CGI model that should be showcased each time they transform but much of it gets reduced to a jumbled mess because of the closeness of the camera.
