No, As a matter of fact I think these movies actually depend on the audience having no short term memory.

Ooooh look, shiny robots and explosions!

:lol

The 1st one was reasonably enjoyable but as soon as they gave Devastator balls that was it for me. For the life of me I can't figure out why they can't make these movies actually focus on the Transformers with minimal involvement from the humans.

:lol

Yeah, I'm very curious how it could be worse than part 3. 1 was watchable, 2 was painful, 3 was unwatchable IMO.
How can you get worse than unwatchable?

:lol

:lol

I saw it at IMAX just now.
I really liked the original movie, mainly the opening scene and the last 45 minutes.

I hated part 2 and thought part 3 was just ok, nothing special though.

This one was really good for the first 30 minutes and then falls apart. Way too much of the Bay style of comedy, do we really need a joke every 2 minutes?!?!?! The first one does not have any jokes in the last battle and is great. The action in this one puts you to sleep because there is no drama what so ever but some ok scenes. Overall, I was disappointed for sure. It needed better Transformers characters too.

The 80s cartoon is much more enjoyable to watch and much more serious in tone and has so many great characters.

These movies cater to the lowest denominator,of course it will Bank

Bay has said multiple times he makes movies for entertainment, not personal value, and he aims to please that way. I've come to terms with what Bay has done with transformers, I like the first, HATE the second, and kind of like the third, hoping 4 is on the first ones level. Pacific Rim eased my hate on Transformers as it actually gave me a giant robot film I will never get tired of watching. Hopefully Legendary does more films like that.

Well he has failed in that regard. Dismally.

Viacom would greatly disagree with you based on box office results.

Not talking about box office talking about entertainment. See below...:lol

Bay has said multiple times he makes movies for entertainment, not personal value......

The reviews for this are some of the worst I've ever seen, it's a hollywood/media game changer I reckon..

It's getting a 71% from fans though. So whose right the critics or those paying to see it? The average is 3.8/5 I'd probably go 4/5 as I was quite entertained.

But box office is all that matters, Viacom doesn't care if the movie got bad reviews and Rorywan didn't like it. :lol

Oh god no. I didn't see it. I won't. I ranked part 3 as the worst "film" I've ever seen. Ever. And until I'm an investor in one of these movies financially then I will only refer to the creative merit and entertainment value of one of Bay's movies. I had some hopes that lessons were learnt from the last experience, with a reboot of sorts and the dinobots. I was obviously very wrong. I was only potentially going to see it because my 4 year old is a major Transformers fan, I got him into it, he loves them, he's seen the trailers for this..
But I would feel dirty taking him to this **** like "film"...

Michael Bay is Dangerous.

Nah, it's getting lambasted by audiences across the board. Not just critics. A lot of fans had their hopes up that it would be something better than the last 2.

Is anybody surprised how crappy this movie is being reviewed?
I never been a big Michael Bay fan, but I enjoyed Bad Boys, The Rock and The Island...
But man, when I saw Pearl Harbor, I realized he was just the worst!
I saw the first TF because I am a TF fan... It was OK, but man... TF2 took it to a whole different level of crappiness... since then, I won't see a Bay movie ever again!!
Honestly, I give him props for being such a terrible director and convincing movie studios to give him tons of money, AND actually getting the people to enjoy his ****!
It's sad though, how he lacks any integrity and he's just like a shady car salesman that knows he's selling you crap but will do it anyways just for the money...

To think that there are lots of more talented directors who can make better movies is pretty sad too...
I don't mind mindless entertainment every now and then, but Bay is just the poster boy for worst side of Hollywood... And Hasbro is at fault too, tells you they only care about the money even if it means putting such a beloved franchise in the worst possible hands... they don't care if Optimus ends up crapping all over Bumblebees mouth, it's all about the $$$... and doesn't matter if there's thousands of Optimus and Bumblebee toys peg warming toy stores... as long as there are plenty of stupid people watching this, they'll keep making them... Anyway... nothing new... next one is The Turtles... ugh... can't this guy do something like Twilight or Hunger Games instead of franchises I love?...

I don't see that with it getting 71%. If its nearly pulling a 4/5 according to rottentomatoes then guess we have a different look at lambasted. :dunno Ah well. I enjoyed it. I got no problem riding that ship alone if needed. :lol

Guess, I'll continue to be stupid. :dunno

The Hunger Games movies are pretty awesome. :rock

I will agree with you that The Hunger Games have been fantastic, but lets be honest, Transformers doesn't even come close to the level of respect for it's source material as Hunger Games does.

Saw the poster for this at the cinema yesterday, had a chuckle that they're still churning out these turds :lol

Friday AM Update: Transformers: Age of Extinction earned an estimated $8.75 million from late Thursday shows. That includes $1.4 million from IMAX shows.

That number is in the same general ballpark as Godzilla ($9.3 million), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($8.7 million) and X-Men: Days of Future Past ($8.1 million). Godzilla and Spider-Man benefited from a 7 p.m. opening, though, while Transformers didn't open until 9 p.m. For the weekend, Transformers should wind up over $90 million.

Forecast: Rolling out at 4,233 locations this weekend, Transformers: Age of Extinction could be the first 2014 release to open over $100 million. It's unclear, though, if the addition of Dinobots and Mark Wahlberg is enough to combat the sense of "been there, done that" that's settled in around the fourth installment in this hugely profitable franchise.

The first three Transformers movies opened ahead of July 4th in 2007, 2009 and 2011. All three earned over $300 million at the domestic box office, and each installment improved upon its predecessor overseas. The third movie—the first in 3D—grossed a whopping $771 million outside of the U.S., which puts its worldwide total north of $1.1 billion.

While all three major box office hits, the second and third movies were maligned by critics and received mixed reactions from moviegoers (both have below a 6.5 rating on IMDb, which is poor for this genre). Historically, this isn't a good sign for the box office prospects of the next outing.

A strong comparison here is the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, where goodwill from the first movie propped up two underwhelming sequels. For the fourth Pirates movie, the cast from the first three outings was largely replaced, though the main draw (Captain Jack Sparrow) stuck around. For Transformers: Age of Extinction, Mark Wahlberg replaces Shia LaBeouf in the lead human role, while fan favorite Optimus Prime is, of course, returning.

Ultimately, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides earned 22 percent less than its predecessor at the domestic box office; a similar result would not be surprising for the latest Transformers movie.

From an opening weekend perspective, it's tough to draw an apples-to-apples comparison with the previous Transformers movies. All three opened on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday, and therefore burned off significant demand by the time the weekend arrived. Fandango is reporting that Age of Extinction pre-sales are on par with those of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Godzilla and X-Men: Days of Future Past. All three of those movies opened between $90 and $95 million. Paramount is also expecting a similar result this weekend ($90 to $100 million).

One thing that definitely won't help Transformers this weekend are its reviews. As of late Thursday afternoon, the movie had an abysmal 13 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. While the franchise has historically seemed critic-proof, this rating does seem low enough to keep at least a few potential moviegoers away.

Of course, Transformers: Age of Extinction isn't made with the U.S. market in mind: the goal here is first-and-foremost to tap in to the franchise's massive overseas potential. More specifically, this movie is designed to play in China. The last outing earned over $160 million there, and the Chinese market has grown substantially since then.

In an effort to further increase the movie's appeal there, a significant portion of the movie is set in and around Hong Kong. It's practically a foregone conclusion that Transformers: Age of Extinction will earn north of $200 million in China, and there's a small chance that it actually grosses more there than it does in the U.S.

Forecast (June 27-29)
1. Transformers 4 - $96 million
2. How to Train Your Dragon - $15.5 million (-37%)
3. 22 Jump Street - $15 million (-45%)
4. Think Like a Man Too - $12.3 million (-58%)

Bar for Success
The last Transformers movie earned $98 million on its opening weekend, and that's after burning off $64.8 million worth of demand on Wednesday and Thursday. Based on that, Transformers: Age of Extinction ought to be opening at least on par with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which has the top debut this year ($95 million).

It's more respectful as a whole I'd say that's probably true. I just find these films really entertaining. :dunno
