I hope M Bay gets to do a Batman trilogy and LOTR reboot... LoL hehe

The Transformers movies are AWESOME! Michael Bay is a genius! Who doesn't like the Bayformers movies? According to the cast that is.. :rotfl

I'm ready for a MB Star Wars movie.

Whilst Bay is still deeply invloved in the Transformers franchise there's still people that will support and defend his now very generic blockbuster movies. I imagine it will be a different story once he moves on to the next big franchise because it will happen one day. Bay = Box Office Gold to movie studios. It wouldn't surprise me to see Bay blowing up Middle Earth or the Galaxy one day.

That cartoon movie pissed me off. Killing Prime ran me off Transformers for a long time.
Definitely a bad move by Hasbro. And because of the backlash, they made a very awkward change to the end of the GI Joe animated movie which would have been better served with Duke dying in battle. I do like the movie, and have positive memories of it, but also have some serious issues all pretty much due to the decision to use the movie as a vehicle for moving the focus away from older toys and to promote newer ones.

It was a glorified toy commercial.
Was any Transformers cartoon or movie not primarily driven by this motivation? I'm honestly not sure, but my guess would be that they all were. Which is fine, seeing as how the cartoon series would have existed at all if it wasn't meant to serve that function (same for GI Joe). But the bad move by Hasbro was failing to see how kids developed a connection to those characters in the cartoons. They should have transitioned to the futuristic spacey toys in a more careful manner.

What pissed me off the most about the 1986 movie is that like 10 Autobots died and only one Decepticon (Starscream.) I was out for blood after Prime bought it and kept expecting the Decepticons to get their comeuppance. But they didn't. A bunch of them even got new and improved bodies! :cuss

I think even more autobots were initially supposed to be shown dying or dead. It was kind of weird that more of the Decepticons didn't die. It wasn't like Soundwave was still being produced as a toy, or Devastator, or Reflector. And maybe the story should have been Prime changing into Ultra Magnus in the same way that Megs changed to Galvatron, but. . .

Was there ever mention of Megatron after he turned into Galvatron in the show?

Galvatron mentions it to Magnus once during the movie (he later gets owned) and of course Starscream does too before being vaporized. I just can't remember hearing his name at all after that.

And yeah, what was the deal with the Cons weapons in the movie? They killed everything that moved with one shot. It does piss me off that they killed Ironhide (who had taken direct fire from Megatron cannon many times before) and Wheeljack.

Just a means to an end. In the cartoon, the autobots would get shot, explode, etc., and could always be rebuilt. Not in the movie. And an exception was made for Ultra Magnus, who was blown to pieces in the animated movie, but put back together.

It was a glorified toy commercial. Yes. It pissed a lot of people off.

It's still better than anything Bay has done though.

That's all the cartoons of the 80's were.

No, I don't think so. You don't get to kill of Prime and rank ahead for me anyways.

I remember him living and being glad. Dukes my favorite Joe so I was glad as a kid they didn't kill him off and probably why I stuck with Joe longer than Transformers as a kid.
