Just got back from seeing this film an hour ago. I wouldn't call anything i'm about to say a spoiler, as it's just my thoughts on the quality of the film and a general rant. But just to be sure i will tag this. It's 4:30am here and i'm tired, so this isn't going to be Shakespeare-

If you liked the original, then you should like this too. But unfortunately, if you couldn't stand the retarded dialogue and 'humour' from the original, then prepare yourself for even more retarded dialogue and 'humour'. From the trailers i had seen i thought Bay had finally made a more 'serious' version for those of us that grew up with Transformers throughout the 80s, but he's gone and aimed this film at the teenagers again. If you're in your mid teens, then you will probably find this film hilarious like the majority of the people in the cinema did, so lucky you. Everything just seemed to go straight over my head though, with only the occasional joke raising a smile from me. I found most of it cringe-worthy, just as i did in the original. My 35 year old friend didn't stop laughing throughout the whole film though, so maybe it's just me. But then again, he seems to constantly laugh at things no-one else laughs at in films.

The action is the same affair as the original, but now with more different Transformers and more extended action scenes. Unfortunately, it all becomes a massive blur and i had trouble making out the different Transformers most of the time. The few times they slowed the action down was great, so i don't know why they didn't do that more often. The final battle in the film goes on far too long though, to the point where i just wanted it to end or at least calm down for 10 minutes. Fast paced action is all well and good, but you need to slow the pace down from time to time before it becomes a monotonous blur. This film should have been about 30 minutes shorter.

Then there's Megan Fox. Now i have no complaints about seeing close-ups of her breasts jiggling about, but i swear there must have been over an hour of this film with her just running at the screen in slow motion or bending over with low cut tops. I love the female form like the next man, but i came to see a film about robots fighting, if i want to see all that i've got 1tb of proper porn to watch on my pc! :D

Anyway, the film was disappointing in that it wasn't the more mature sequel i was hoping for, but it's still got some great action and amazing effects. This will be another Blu-ray purchase for me, as it will provide some great demo material. I just wish Bay had the balls to make a Transformers film with a bit more quality that wont be forgotten in 5 years time.

Overall Film- 5/10
Action/CGI- 8/10
Megan Fox jiggly boobies 9/10

Doubt it will be forgotten, but might be remade at the rate Hollywood is going.:lol:rotfl

Well, the screening in L.A. just finished. Here was what CHUD Twittered:
TRANSFORMERS is a disaster. A tedious, grueling disaster.

Also, TRANSFORMERS is ^^^^ing shockingly racist. Not kidding.

And I REALLY like the first TRANSFORMERS

Ouch.

FirstShowing.Net was less drastic:

Well uh wow Transformers 2 was bigger, longer, taller, 10x more epic but better? Maybe slightly, but its definitely no Dark Knight...

I will say the biggest achievement is what ILM pulls off in this it is seriously insane the amount of CGI and the level of detail... insane!

Sounds pretty much on par with what to expect.

It's no Dark Knight, no ^^^^, Transformers will never be a Dark Knight type film, it's just mindless childish fun for 2 hours.

Hey, we all know what we are in for. Those going to to the movie really only want to see Megan Fox and big ^^^^in' explosions. Because apparently you can't tell the robots arpart when they are out of their car forms.

No one expects anything else. At least I don't. lol

How can anyone compare this to Dark Knight? That's why I don't go to CHUD to read anything. And it's racist too! Geez. :duh

Well hasn't Bay been often criticised for portrayng African Americans in pure stereotype form in many of his films including the first Transformers? What surprises me though, is with Spielberg onboard, you'd thinkg stuff like that would get cleaned up.

CHUD didn't compare it to TDK.... FirstShowing did.

And I'm not saying I agree (I have yet to see the movie) but there might be some merit to the racism charge. MAYBE. Like I said, I thought that was borderline in the first film.

If nothing else, it does sound like The Twins may be the new Jar Jar.

Not "supposed", but they are what he's talking about when he says...

I know white people that would fit that description. I saw those two robots in a trailer and racism never crossed my mind. It didn't in the first one either. Actually, this is the first I've heard mention of it.

I just thought they were goofy looking. They remind me of him.....

Nah, see the reason we hear crap like this about movies and even video games like RE5 is because of people Chris Rock is talking about in the video below lol.
