i dont know what the big deal was about these twins they were awesome imo i loved these guys

What is happening to the English language? It is evaporating before our very eyes.

It certainly are.

I was actually surprised by the audience reaction this afternoon--absolute dead silence whenever that awful mother character was on screen. (I just felt sorry for the actress.) Same reaction to the twins--although they didn't have quite as much screen time as I was expecting.

I know Bay made this for the audience, not the critics, but the audience just wasn't responding to this movie. No cheers and hardly any laughter throughout. I really do think that it was sensory overload--just so much happening that your brain and emotions eventually sort of shut off. I know that some people talk about "turning your brain off" to just sit back and enjoy a popcorn movie like this, but this went past that point--it was just so lacking in restraint of any kind that halfway through you just get numb to it.

I didn't hate it--I just had little to no reaction at all. It's like an annoying sound or smell that is driving you crazy at first and then your brain learns to ignore it and your numbed senses just shut off. Heartless spectacle with no breathing room or emotional involvement becomes tiresome after 90 minutes or so--and we were way past that point when pretty much the entire audience just got up and walked out in a sort of dazed mental half-slumber as the credits rolled.

^ The audience you viewed the movie with must have been a Linkin Park's song away from slitting their wrists because the audience that I shared this flick with erupted with a cacophony of laughter whenever mother Witwicky was being goofy. The Autobot Twins got some chuckles, Bumblebee had a few "awww" moments, and when Optimus...well, you know, there was a large number of people (most of them not children) yelling "noooo!" with such conviction that I thought they were going to cry. Not surprisingly, poor John Turturro got no laughs, especially after the buttcheeks moment, which got a lot of groans.

I've seen the film twice and the audience reaction was similar both times. Odd.

I didn't share the same enjoyment, I guess.

You reminded me of the one emotional response the audience audibly shared--a groan/gasp of horror/disgust when he ripped his pants off and we saw his thong projected onto the giant IMAX screen.

I expected my son to react to Prime's fate, but like most everybody else, he was too dazed to be moved. A film needs to do certain things right to trigger an emotional response from the audience, and Star Trek (for example) did more of this in its first five minutes than Transformers could manage in two and a half hours.

The movie totally felt like it was geared towards a younger audience, but even the kids in my audience didn't really react to the movie too well only one child shouted one thing and that was "the man sad a bad word" and everyone laughed at that instead of the movie!

Also if I had to sum up the movie it would be this: A lot of robots flipping around and smashing into each other.

Was it just me or did a lot of the bots look to alike to even tell who was who?

Now Star Trek was a good summer movie.

watched it yesterday. Wanted to like it but felt it was ok, not great. There just seemed too much focus on visual effects and very little in terms of story telling or acting. There was no chemistry between Megan and Shia and to me the twins detracted rather than add to the movie.

Why couldn't it be more like Iron Man? Have great effects but don't rush to get it all out there at once.

I sincerely hope TF 3 will do better and that MB doesn't see the box office takings as a confirmation that the more bangs there are, the better.

I think its funny people are still comparing it to TDK. The ONLY reason why TDK did good was cause Ledger died, not because he was in the movie, or there are really that many batman fans in the world, and not because its really that good of a film, which it is. It was because he died. Just look at the numbers Begins did. Half the people who saw it only saw it to see ledger in his last full role. Thats its. That is my opinion on why TDK did so good.

so to compare any movie with the TDK on box office is ridiculous....because his death drew numbers that if he had not died would not of happened.

well the ONLY reason transformers2 did this well is because optimus prime died, not because he was in the movie, or that there are really that many transformers fans in the world, and not because its really that good of a film, which it isn't. it was because optimus died. just look at the numbers tranformers1 did. half the people who saw it only saw it just to see prime in his last full role.

hahaha sorry dude, just messing witcha. :D

:peace

That is the biggest problem with films. If it does well despite its problems, the studios don't know what (if anything) to fix. If this worked well, repackage it and release it again is all they can think off.

On the flip side ,GI Joe, for example, they might think that GI Joe as a property doesn't sell well and not that they messed with it too much and ruined the original concepts behind the property. GI Joe is really in a lose-lose situation right now. If it does well, we'll get more of the same crap. If it bombs, we might never see a decent GI Joe film. :(

Everytime I saw it, everyone laughed at everything. Everything.

Oh well. I laughed. I found it all funny. Guess you gotta be in the right mindset for Bay humor. :lol

Actually, Bay DID listen. See...the audiences he saw the movie with, all told him how they loved the tone of the movie. Not always serious, but not always funny. So he "improved" on it. Probably shoulda toned it down a lot...but still.

People wanted more Robots...and so he gave them more. They wanted more Megs/Starscream, he gave you that. And finally, more Prime kicking ass.

Now what you guys need to do, is stop talking about that, and keep ^^^^^ing about better stories, and characters. I mean, yeah I loved the movie and all, but I'd like a cool story that isnt to convolted.

Bay listens. Its like the AvP issue. People complained mostly about the Predator deaths, and rating, and what did we get? An R-Rated Predator fapalon. Which was WORSE then the first one...

Plenty of laughs, etc. at the theater I was at, even at the parents. And there was alot of reactions from kids in the audience. Must just be the difference in the areas or something.

I'm not into GI Joe at all, know nothing of the comics, toys, whatever but I thought the trailer looked pretty good. Why is it being slammed by alot of people on the board already?

Because it looks ^^^^ty. It really does. I know nothing of GI Joe...but damn...I mean, nothing in the lore is that hard to put on film, and they didnt even try.

I mean, whats hard about a ninja in a sweater and a face mask? Or a dude in camo?

It could be fun I guess...but man, does it look crappy.

Actually i liked AVP-R more than AVP. More because it seemed to have fewer gaps when compared with the comics per se.

Sure, i agree it could do better with it being more well lit and if they scratched out the Predalien frenching the ladies.

But on the whole, i thought it was better than AVP cos it didn't turn the two creatures into wrestlers or brutes.

I've only seen one trailer. To me it's too hard to judge it right now.
