I love your optimism and I hope it makes a ton of money but coming out as the top grosser, I think you are asking too much.
This is the summer of the blockbuster, so far we have Spidey, Shrek and Pirates, all of whose prior movies are in the 10 ten grossing movies of all-time.

After that you have Harry Potter 5, Simpsons, Fantastic Four 2 and that's just off the top of my head. I am sure there are at least 5 other films out there to give Transformers competition.

Though I have not liked the look of the robots the last trailer before Shrek the Third started me in the direction of really giving it a chance.....UNTIL Shia was telling Prime at the end to keep quite because his parents will get upset. Okay, that Smedium moment sucked.

But hey, I will see it either way. They already have my money, but they still have to earn my fandom.

Had a couple of the new toys in my hands this afternoon--- I picked up Bumblebee, Jazz, and the Decepticon police car (Barricade?) and when I went to the checkout at my friendly over the border (US) Wal-Mart they refused to ring in... I guess someone put them out a few weeks too early. Oh well.

I'll check out the movie--- wish it was more in line with the actual G1, but it's a big robots blow SH&T up.... can't go wrong with that premise.

I am not a so called Transformers fan...never have been...wrong generation...
But...
This movie has potential.
Pirates may be the biggie, maybe...but I wanna see this Transformers. The previews own!

I was at the perfect age when this came out in Scotland (where I was living the time in '84) and it was always my favorite---- after the release of the movie is when I started to lose interest. For me it was always the core characters involved in G1.

I'm hopeful---- but I wish they looked more like their original versions... I think I'm going to have a real problem watching Starscream when he looks nothing like my favorite image of him.

Like I said earlier, THE ROBOT FORMS SUCK!!

The one thing with the robot forms I hate more than anything are the heads. They just look awful.


I do like Blackout.

The toy is just awesome. One of my favorite new TFs in years.

That's fine on a "bad guy" but the Autobots look just as "evil" as the Decepticons.

Yeah, that's what I like about it. They don't look quite as menacing as the "Cons, but still weird enough that humans will still see them as invading monsters even though they're trying to save Earth. If they look too humanoid, they seem like less of a menace. That's my $0.02 anyway.

Only Starscream looks horrible in the movie. I think Optimus Prime looks amazing, as does Blackout, and Barricade.

I even like Bumble Bee. Megatron is slowly becoming likable. I just hate his hands, or claws, or whatever they are.

But yeah, Starscream's robot form is atrocious. I have no idea what they were thinking.
