Wow, Jiminy.... They look awesome! I'm jealous! :D
And Rod as Simon is a crack up! Hopefully he won't have to stand in for much more than another month. River should be able to crawl out of her crate too....

So great to see your hard work! Thanks for sharing the pic,

Trev

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Thanks Trev! It's really all about your amazing sculpts. None of us could have done this project if it weren't for you.

Yeah that's the MaryJane dress. Not exactly right but basically in character, and it was the best I could come up with.

I like it, she just needs a shawl to wrap around her. Maybe a light purple or something to go with the dress. I don't know what color, but something she can wrap around her arms that hangs a little bit.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I've had trouble that if I don't prime, the paint rubs off easily. That can be fixed by spraying a fixative on after, but sometimes I'll rub just with my fingers while I'm still painting. Then it can be a pain to do touch ups.

Thanks guys - gave the head a good wash last night and it seems to have solved my problem! And now that the paint is going on, I have to say again ... what an AMAZING sculpt. Feel very fortunate to have this in my possession to paint!

Awesome stuff Jiminy! I wish I had the time or the $$$ to do the whole crew!

If you use enamel paint, which is oil based, it can rub off on your hands, that's one reason I like to use acrylic, which doesn't come off on your hands and whatever mess you make can come off with water. You can even remove the paint by soaking in dishsoap and water instead of paint remover.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Since right now this is just an interest thread, odds are you won't be seeing a product for a couple of months at the earliest. Maybe if you put a little aside you might be able to afford it then.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I'd love to, I really would! With a wee lil' 4 month old at home I just can't justify it.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Depends on how long it will be. I still got 6 weeks of school then the hunt for a job. I also just realized it wouldn't work for my Serenity Mal
:(

Awww, congrats!:) Well in that case I definatly understand. Shame though, its going to be one hell of a piece. I just hope I can fill up the 20 person quota I need to get this thing made.

Yea, im in the same boat myself. 6 more weeks till the real world hits.

It would probably work though. The only real difference between the Firefly and Serentiy versions is the shoulder patch, which I already know you are good at making.

In a few weeks if you change your mind get back to me and maybe there will still be one available.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

well I sure hope that it happens! I might jump on later pending on my chances of getting a job. If the bullet repair isn't to hard to remove I could be good.

Oh I know it will be. Of all of Kato's masterpieces this would have been the one I jumped on. I'll be lurking in that thread often though. lol

I wish you luck though! Kato is pretty could at going forward with his projects even if you don't quite hit 20.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

That makes me consider going for a full custom with my Mal, with that quality from Kato's duster. It'd be pretty expensive but worth it.

I work with 3D modeling so I might consider making a 3D model of the pistol and getting it printed to have a more accurate one.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

If you do do the model of the gun, I found a place that is pretty affordable here in Calgary.

Do they do high quality? I know of a couple of places, they've got machines that can do higher resolution prints (for those that don't know, in 3D printing, the object is created by layers of material, the better quality you want, the smaller the layers are so you won't see a stepping effect on the object)

It's more expensive for the high-resolution stuff, but for a small gun like this, it's probably not all that expensive.
