Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Speaking of the pants, how are people adding stripes to them?

I bought some brown ribbon at Michael's craft store. It was narrow and the right color. I had to buy a whole roll so I have plenty left. Be glad to mail you a couple feet or so.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

The pants are alittle weathered. Just to give them alittle character. Not sure if I am gonna keep it like that.

The shirt is a Duncan macleod highlander shirt from SS

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Thanks guys!

Any suggestions on the coat? It's my second attempt but I was wondering what your opinions were.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Really poofy. Looks almost like winter coat. I would go for something in a much thinner material and tailor it smaller.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

ya its a little over sized I think. I can just tailor is a bit. the fabric it pretty thin so it should be ok

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Those look great man, absolutely perfect! :bow

^^^this!! Great job Gramps! :clap

Seeing as how Wash is on a Slim you may want to take the clothes in a bit. I had to do that on one of my bashes. All I did was cut right up the middle of the back of the shirt and took about a half an inch out. Sewed it back up and it made all the difference in the world! Might be a little tricker with the Jumpsuit though.

Thanks for the nice words Trev. I made the dinosaurs out of Sculpy. Thank you for thinking they were commercial. That Sculpy stuff is not easy to work with. Put it in the frig to get it a little stiffer so I could work with it, but it didn't get hard. Also thank you for suggesting the female aviator flight suit, it worked out great.

That is unreal Grandpa!! WOW!!! You SCULPTED those dinos???? Crazy. How did you do the patches? I'd love to meet you man. Seriously.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Dude - Grandpa, seriously, that is just some amazing stuff! Love everything about them - can't wait to see them with Trev's heads. When you have a bit of time, could you please (pretty please!) post a recipe for your bash? I'd love to follow it! :clap

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

The Wash clothes are way, way, way too baggy. Looks more like a tent than clothing.

Even though wash tends to wear looser clothing than the rest of the gang, it still isnt so puffy that it doesnt even touch him.

Kaylee is better, but still a bit loose. Also, I would see what you could do about getting smaller zipper. That zipper would be the size of her hand in real life.

You are dead right. Wash'es clothes are way to loose a fit. Unfortunatly I don't know how to sew, so I buy what's already available on the retail market and bash it together, I may try a huskier body and cut the legs down in length. I used the slim body because it is shorter than the other TT's. I disagree about Kaylee's outfit. The clothes fit just the way she wears them in photos I've seen. About the zipper. There are some things that are beyond your control when dressing a 1/6 figure. Buttons, zippers and fabric thickness are amoung these. Being a non-sewer, I kind of have to eccept whats' available, although I do have the sewing skill to replace a button or two, but even the best buttons are still out of scale.
