I don't really have any response to that other than I'm going to say what I feel is worth saying. I'm not going to stop talking about things because someone says "stop talking about X".

Triad has shown this weird penchant for making drastic negative changes to their product before release. It's very frustrating and worth pointing out here in regards to the Samurai Champloo figures that those pictured on their site are not the figures you are buying and likewise worth noting they did something very similar with the Eva/Evo release.

I think this is very useful information for those who see these new sales and don't know that even though the product is long since released, that the images on the site do not reflect the product you are buying. Not everyone has read every post in every thread on every forum. These aren't the Triad forums. You're allowed to be critical of companies and products on these forums. Hell it's practically what Sideshow Freaks is known for. If you have a problem with that you probably shouldn't be posting and reading here.

:lol

Thank you. I needed a good laugh.

Woah good call on bumping this thread. I might just have to pick Mugen up for the price he's going for!

He's worth it right? Do the bodies hold up to constant posing? I wouldn't want him breaking on me.

Monger:

Check out wookster's review. I think Michael Crawford reviewed the figures as well on his website.

I was always planning on using one of these bodies for my Scott Pilgrim custom. . . but alas, no. I am not a customizer and it was not meant to be.

Someday, just waiting for Headplay to make me a Michael Cera head. . . but it'll probably turn out like crap anyways. Oh well.

I only got the Mugen figure and I have to say that he's by far one of my favorite 1/6 figures out there.
Now to the downside. Triad is known for some of their shoddy works and this figure kinda suffers from some shoddy stuff. Like the wrists. They are pretty loose and somewhat annoying, so that's a minus. The knees/legs. Well one leg is very loose at the knee and it drives me absolutely nuts because he's suppose to be a new figure that is suppose to be able to do awesome poses! Something that mine has a little trouble doing. The feet. Well, the left foot likes to randomly fall off, which really sucks because he has magnets on the bottom which allow him to stand sturdy on a metal surface (I've seen crazy pics with a Mugen sticking to the side of an oven)! Not mine! The foot. Stays, but the rest of the figure falls! The sword. Well it's kinda cool except the fact that the shoulder pad is awkward and has a little bit of a hard time sitting on the shoulder correctly due to the weight of the sword itself. The dagger at the bottom of the sword. It is pretty lame considering it doesn't really snap into place. It just falls out whenever it feels like it.
Well on to the good parts. The body is pretty accurate to the cartoon. The sculpt is pretty awesome. The pers (the eyes turning system) is great (screw you Hot Toys with your $250 price tag for some moving eyes, pfft.)
The clothing looks great and is very accurate! The knees actually have covers that cover up the joint, which can be viewed either way, good or bad. I personally think its a good touch. The shoes come off! Good to at least have the option. And finally, he has accurate tattoos and jewelry! This is a major plus considering this could easily be overlooked.
I absolutely. Love this figure and can't stop looking at it! I also heavily identify with Mugen as well, which helps a little as well. I skipped on Jin just due to lack of money, but still want to get him. I just think he's a little skinny from what I can tell. No big deal. He just looks like he fills his clothes out better in the cartoon.
Now Triad is throwing out a hint that Fuu will probably be coming out, but already judging from pics, it looks like they are skimping out on accuracies on her. Her body just looks way too big.
Anyways, I hope I helped with this question you were asking. To answer it, yes get him!

Thanks for the review ChopChop. I appreciate the indepth overview of the figure's flaws. I'm the kind of guy that rather hear more about the flaws than the strengths because it gives me the best idea of whether or not to go for it.

You've convinced me it is worth the price Triad Toys is asking but now I need to see if it is worth that price + whatever shipping they charge.

And why did they never release the girl? I guess I shouldn't expect much from Triad when it comes to actually releasing stuff.

I'm pretty sure you can find him cheeper than the Triad site. Just look around.
As far as Fuu goes. There was a couple of pics floating around, but it was only in a prototype form and wasn't too impressive as far as really capturing the Fuu we see on the cartoon. I dont know, maybe im just being too hard on what I've seen so far. Although i would probably get her if they did release her. I don't think we'll ever see her though. Triad actually lost the Samurai Champloo license (this year) and is notorious for telling everybody about their stuff, but never following through. Actually, it took a whole year after they told us the initial release date for Jin and Mugen before they came out. When they finally did, it was like, "oh, by the way, here you go". At that point I had ordered, then cancelled and the reordered and cancelled again. In the end I just found him cheeper elsewhere.
I also suggest you try to hunt down that 3 figure set that (I think it was Yamato that made it) came out a while ago. They each came with a small magnet bust as well which look awesome (I currently have them all on my fridge). The 3 figures join into one small statue thing. This by far gives the best representation of the characters in the cartoon. The only Samurai Champloo thing that can actually rival it was 2 super rare statues of both Jin and Mugen. Jin was doing a cut motion, while they had Mugen in a awesome breakdance fight move. They were/are so rare that there was never any real info on where to get them, and from what I heard, the Mugen statue ended being sold on some unannounced German website! I had a chance to get them, but statues are kinda, well stagnant. Although I am kinda kicking myself for passing on the Mugen one though.
There was also some pretty awesome busts of all the characters that I think Dark Horse released a while back.
Also, stay far away from the Palisades figures. They just suck. I was tempted to get them just for the sake of having them, but ultimately they just look dumb.
I don't know why I'm rambling on about this considering you probably already know about this stuff already. Just trying to help out. Since nobody else seems to care about this series, I just wanted to reach out to somebody that does.:hi5:

People who know about it care, but as you said, there's not much worthwhile product out there.

When you say Palisades figures, do you mean the Jazwares ones? I remember waiting a really long time for those to be released. I'm glad I gave up on them.

Yeah, I guess Jazwares. My mess up. But yeah, they blow big time! I can't stand even looking at them on the net because they really rub me the wrong way.
I'm just glad Yamato released their versions. I'm just pissed because Yamato teased me BAD with the Blade Of The Immortal figures they were suppose to release. They never did, and that just killed me. But that's another story.

Ugh just hearing Blade of the Immortal mentioned reminds me of those crazy awesome 1/6 super limited Manji customs that go for ridiculously high amounts of money.

You talking out the Dark Horse version or the super realistic one that one guy put out? I have the Dark Horse one and it's pretty cool. The realistic ones sculpt just didn't look right to me, but it was cool.

These are cool, but not what I was looking for. I think Fuu looked the best.

Always wondered what Medicom could have done with them.

Mostly the same thing, but twice the price. Don't get me wrong I love Medicom, but in this case I really don't think their versions would look much better.

Why is there so little information in Jin? I can't find much about the Triad Toys Jin at all.

Those figures looks awesome! I never knew they existed. Really kinda pity that theres so little merchandise for Samurai Champloo.

I dont think Triad will ever release Fuu, they are kinda like Duke Nukem Forever in the figure industry.

I'm not sure about that (the price, would definitely be ridiculous). Based on their Evangelion figures, I think they'd be more adept at translating anime to three dimensions.

If you want to see Medicom at their finest then take a look at their Jojo's Bizarre Adventure figures, especially the recent Giorno release. It's like they took him straight out of the manga. Very impressive.
