I've only seen FF6, and I liked it. Justin Lin also directed the first paintball episode of Community, which was a great episode.

Kinda reminds me of when Marvel announced that "those Russo guys" from Community were going to direct the Winter Soldier. And we know how that turned out.

People these days are too quick to write things off. When I first heard of True Detective, and heard that McConaughey and Harrelson were starring, my only thought was that those guys were goons, but they had chops when given the right material.

Anyone who followed harrelson and MCConaughey knew that they were capable actors.
Farell is the same type, he can be good when given the proper material.
Vaughn is the question mark since hes been basically playing the obnoxious funny Best friend again and again.

Now those Russo guys are nowhere near as good as fanboy qnt them to be, all the on action scenes were fonctional but the action sequence were directed by Storyboard and previz artist Frederico DAllessandro. Hes the guy behind most of the action séquences in Marvel movies.

Justin Lin is competent, his fast and furious was a cool action ride but the rest of his work it's not really the type of director you hope to get in a moody show like this one.
Now wait and see, the people behind the show know what they are doing :)

The Cast and their character descriptions:
Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.

Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.

Kelly Reilly as Jordan, Frank Semyon’s wife, a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.

I finally got to watch the series! I must say it was pretty good, I was expecting a little more because of the hype behind it but I really enjoyed it. My biggest gripe is it just felt rushed towards the end where it really picked up and I wanted more of Rust and Marty, they could have milked it for another season at least but still very entertaining. I'm very hesitant for next season though, I only enjoy Colin Ferrel as a villain and Vince Vaughn is great in Swingers but he was horrible in Psycho so this is very cringing to hear both attached to the next installment.

Like the McConaissance that began in 2011 with THE LINCOLN LAWYER and culminated with a Best Actor Oscar for DALLAS BUYERS CLUB earlier this year, its safe to assume Vaughn is chasing the same career changing methodology and this season of True Detective will be a new more serious beginning for him.

A good actor can stop participating in mediocre projects if he chooses to. Affleck, McConaughey - and now Carell, are evidence of that. Hopefully we'll be able to say the same about Farrell and Vaughn in a year.

:lecture This is very true. Vince was also pretty good in The Cell and Clay Pigeons, which are pretty serious roles for him considering the rest of his resume.

You will either love it or hate it.

and I can't wait to see Rachel McAdams in season 2. I've had a thing for her since Wedding Crashers.
Yeah. The ending was......ok. I think it was below the rest of the series. At least two of those lastly last few episodes were more "by the book". I was expecting more. The end got a bit hokey with all that star talk and afterlife.

Either way this was a damn good show with some outstanding episodes. Tbh, I fairly hard on shows so thats a lot coming from me. I rarely venture into this section because I dont follow hype, or news or any of that stuff. I only heard of this show two months ago and only knew of the two lead actors. Thats it.
