Here is what they look like. I really hope you can pull this off, I'm (secretly) trying to attempt these with thin metal and styrene (don't tell anyone). I have 3 of your Durden heads just waiting to get painted after I finish a few more wip's.
just wondering,

if those sunglasses had silver-painted frames,
would that work for tyler durden or is the shape too off?

I could get these and paint silicone rubber over the lens area and spray only the frames, but I'm wondering if the shape is too off.

the lens semi-transparent color seems perfect though

That's the first post from you I actually like.

hey everyone,

Update, believe it or not.

I am having film-paper sunglasses made for Tyler Durden, Denzel (book of eli) and Denzel (man on fire).

I realized that I do not have the micro-sculpting skill of Rainman's to sculpt sunglasses myself, nor the tools/epoxy putt, so I'm gonna try this method out.

i'll probably include two per package, and I'm debating whether I should have them pre-cut or not.

I'll some pictures ready in a couple of weeks,
but just keeping you in the scoop.

Man, everything's falling into place. First TTL comes out with their set with the jacket, then John is taking on the Motocross shirt and polyester pants, and now you're doing the glasses. You guys are making this too easy.

Paper film glasses??? Not sure if that's the best approach...

Someone should look into making metal rimmed glasses which is what I used but don't know the maker... I had these for ages never thought to use them for Tyler...

They don't have to be a sculpted thing... i just can't find metal thin enough to cut to make some...

I picked up some very thin aluminum at the hobby store. They also carry very thin stainless, but I thought that would be more difficult to work with. I'm going to try to cut and dremel it into shape. I know of a way to tint clear styrene, but I've never tried it. I just have about 15 other projects going on right now and I don't know if I'm ready to add a 16th. :duh

if you can do this, it'll save me a lot of time in "attempting" to sculpt something so mechanical and small :)
i was thinking that once there was an original of it,
i can have my caster cast it in translucent red semi-flexible resin and then I could coat the lens area with silicone rubber and spray the whole thing and peel off the silicone covering afterwards. but i have never sculpted glasses before :(

I did find this picture where he is wearing this style of glasses, but for me, it's not the "iconic" look. Daniel, I might be trying to get these made out of photo etched metal from a friend with contacts in China. I have no idea how to go about it, but I'll see what I can come up with. I just need to figure out how to get the frames designed flat, to be printed up and transferred to the plate to be etched. :huh

hey guys,
though i have print glasses already on the way,

what would you guys think about these glasses
if they were red lens, silver frame, same style?

is it too far off?
it is possible to have them custom made as i mentioned above but the minimum count I need to buy is pretty high so I was wondering if it's worth it or not.

Just got my Tyler Durdens yesterday, fantastic, they can almost talk, I can't wait till I can find someone who will paint them for me.

Thanks so much Dan :)

just a couple more days and i'll have pics of the sunglasses :)

Just got my sculpt painted up from boot25. Thanks John! It's really incredible in hand.

Don't mind the outfit, I just popped his head on a TT for some quick pics. Trust me these pics don't do the paint job justice at all.
