Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

Guys, I got pics. All I can say is Wow!!!
I'm not at home though, so either late tonight or tomorrow morning, I'll post the pics.
Would love to get some of your opinion of course. But already as it is, I'm quite happy about it! :yess:

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

Hey Remy, I'll pop the pics up now then since they needed to be re-sized smaller to fit on the forum anyways and so we don't torture everyone! :wave

This is the critique stage.

I had one concern I wanted to share with everyone and wanted you all to weigh in: we put the nose grips on them to be accurate, but many of you pay a LOT of money to get nice paint jobs on your custom heads and I worry about how they might ruin the paint job and scrape the paint off if we go ahead and print the glasses with these on. :horror You might consider having us outright remove them just to protect your paintjobs. Your call! :)

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

I appreciate it Rick. I won't be at home til later so it would have took awhile.

I have two 1/6 glasses and they don't have nose grips, and it's probably for that reason of probably scratching the paint job so I'd rather not have it.
Other than that, I'm extremely happy with it. It looks awesome!!!

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

Yup, just got home and double check my the T2 terminator glasses and Tony stark glasses and they don't have nose grips. So yea, I think we should leave it off, don't wanna take a chance of scratching the paint. Damn! It looks cool Rick.:)

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

Looks great - I'm so stoked about this!

IMHO, I'd say nose grips are not needed at all for 1/6 scale. I agree with the paint worries, and I've never seen 1/6 glasses that had them. (I would imagine they would be so tiny as to be nearly unnoticeable anyway, as well as particulary fragile....)

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

Looks great, no nose grips please.

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

Look amazing!!! At last accurate Tyler glasses :yess::yess::yess:

Thank you so much guys :hi5:

Yeah I am completely in the no nose grips camp

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

:goodpost: I agree with everyone else. Although they would be HIGHLY accurate, there really is no need for them. Thanks for asking!

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

I would like to get 3 pcs totally i/o 2 pcs. thx!

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

They look fantastic! I agree that the nosegrips are not needed :hi5:

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

I have both sculpts and just measured, from the back of the ear to the bridge of the nose is almost exactly the same for both sculpts, 27mm. :yess: From ear to ear, it's about 30mm for sunhoc's and 31mm for rainman's. The sizing of sunhoc's glasses look pretty good to me, though maybe a millimeter too large?

For sizing then, lets make sure we get this right. Does this sound okay, guys?

27MM length
30MM wide (because 31MM might be too big to fit on Sunhoc's?)
7MM high
1MM thick

I tried Rainman's Tyler 2 Oakley sunglasses on both the Sunhoc and Rainman heads, they are perfect sizing for both, and then measured those. They are
27mm length
30mm wide
8mm high
1mm thick.

So if possible I would tweak that one bit as 7mm may not quite line up with the eyes.

As for nose grips, I don't care too much either way. Personally, I would keep them because (1) they are more accurate that way (2) can easily be removed by those that don't want them before being painted (adding them is obviously a lot tougher) and (3) the Rainman Tyler 2 Oakley's have sculpted nose grips and I've never had a problem with paint rubbing off of either the sculpt or the glasses. They don't scrape the sculpt in any way as one might fear and they are more for show as the glasses don't rest on the grips and still make contact with the sculpt in the same spot on the bridge of the nose that they would if the nose grips were not there.

True never thought of these points. The glasses are sitting on the nose regardless, and they can be removed with sanding or dremel. So....:dunno

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

I doubt anyone would try to remove the nose grip tho cause most likely you'll end up breaking the glasses. If it serves no purpose and would not be even visible, personally I don't wanna take any chance scratching the paint.
I'm so indecisive on T2 wearing glasses so I've switched backed and forth and although it never scratch the paint, I'm always paranoid everytime I have to switch.

Re: Petition:Tyler Durden Red Sunglasses.

The only way I could see them scratching is if the frames were made of metal, which these won't be, or the casting or paint work was rough, uneven with no sealant. I think it's an unjustified fear, personally. It's not as if you slide these on and off with any friction. They more or less just lift up and off and are practically weightless. The glasses will need to make contact with the nose and ears somewhere and could just as easily scratch these non factory paint jobs on the bridge without the nose grips. :huh
