If a lot people would prefer to have it, sure. But still, for me personally, why bother to even take chance?
If you look at your Tyler above, you can't see it when he's wearing it. My T2 arnie and mark 4 sunglasses doesn't have it.
So why bother to even take a chance?
It's already on the sculpt and WGP actually even suggested to take it for off for that same reason of taking a chance. So its actuslly more work for them to compensate for it. The OP 523 also has a smaller nose grip compared to the oakleys so it would be sharper.

The 1:1 Mark 4 and T2 raybans are the kind of sunglasses that do not have nose grips on them. Again, I'm not adamant about including them, it's a minor detail, I'm just pointing out that it is indeed possible to make fully accurate 1:6 sunglasses with nose grips that don't scratch paintjobs. I've not heard of it happening in my years of 1:6 collecting, has anyone here actually experienced or seen paint scratched by putting on or taking off glasses or this is just a baseless fear?

Personally, I'm in the camp of liking these things to be as accurate as possible. I'm glad Rainman, for instance, included all the detail that he did for his Tyler and Marla glasses, they really look like scaled down versions of the real thing.

Yea I hear you brother. I do a few mods myself on several of my figures because it would be nice to have the the figures as accurate as it could be. And you're probably correct in that more or less it is baseless fear. It's just that I would be gutted if somehow, it does happen.

So we'll see of course what most people prefer.

WST, any chance a few of these glasses can be printed in translucent yellow as well as the red? I would love, as well as others I imagine, the pair that shaved head Tyler wears later in the film.

sweet! I hope the color tint comes out nice and vibrant for both of these.

And I don't know if a decision has been made about the nose grips yet or not. Another thought is that the angle of them might be tweaked ever so slightly so they don't even come in contact with the sculpt? I believe that's what Rainman did with his glasses.

Another solution is print the glasses with the nose guards, we can cast one copy and take the nose-guards off, and mold that pair. Then have two versions- with and without if need be.

I dont think he ever wore a translucent yellow, the only reason why that looks that way in the pic is the filter in the film. Also, I dont think Shaved Tyler even wears the OP's except on promotional pics and he is wearing the red one. From the research on the OP's he wears, he only wears the OPs in Red and Orange. I believe the orange is for the indoor scenes which looked better on camera.

Besides on that pic, I believe those are the Oakleys, not the Op 523.
And if indeed that is the case, it might be better if we update with ver 2 with the Oakleys since I believe the only ones who were able to get one are the ones who bought the Rainman set which was very limited. I dont think Sunohc even made one for his Shaved Tyler.

time to watch the movie again. nope those are yellow lenses and not the oakleys. OPs I think but they aren't they same model 523s as the arms are slightly different- a bit chunkier with a mottled black & white pattern on them, but these OPs are very close in lens shape and contour.

as with his many costume changes which he often wears for only 1 brief scene, he wears several different glasses throughout the film, the red OPs and oakleys are the most noticeable, but in addition to the yellow ones there are the ones on the airplane, the department store, news broadcast, safety glasses as well.

Yeah, I know he wears different shades like the airplane scene. Eventhough its red, the style looks more like Raybans.

But as far as the OP 523 itself, from what I read, most people assume its just the Red version he wears but I read somewhere that he actually wore 2, the other being orange for indoor scene. I'll go look it up later...Kinda curious now.

Lol, that might be a different version though, look at the sides, its too thick, almost like the Oakleys. So it may be another OP but not the iconic OP 523 that sold out or the Oakleys.

I still think also its not yellow, but just may appear that way due to the camera filter.

I did find another link that mentioned Tyler wearing another version of OP called Aero...I think. I believe that's what he wore on the plane scene and also the in the scene where the group was laughing after they saw the tv news about smiley face explosion on the building they caused.

I think you may be right though that on that pic above, that may be the 523, it just may appear to have thicker frames, but I dont think its yellow though, as I stated, it just appear that way due to the camera filter. Look at his skin, its also yellowish.

the red/orange OP 523s have nothing to do with the oakley mars or any other glasses in the film. I'm not sure why you are mentioning that.

You're incorrect with your information. The glasses on the plane are not the same glasses he wears during the news broadcast at all. very different frames and lens shapes.

The glasses above are definitely yellow lenses and yes a slightly different style with chunkier arms and black and white markings as I said. Rewatching the scene in motion makes it even more apparent that they are in fact unique sunglasses to those shots.

I'm bringing up the red/orange OP to prove a fact he didn't wear a yellow OP 523 that you are suggesting to make.
That's why I posted that link to support my statement.

I brought up the other glasses to specify that what you have in the pic is probably something similar since he dons different glasses but not the iconic glasses which you just now specify after watching again is different.

that link proves nothing about him wearing or not wearing other glasses besides red or orange OP523s during the film including those with yellow lenses. so you think light is shining through orange OP lenses in those shots making them appear bright yellow? But you do now concede that they are not the Oakley Mars and that the arms are not the same style as the OP 523, right?

EDIT: While those screen grabs aren't the best, I wish I had the bluray FC, I imagine the frames are something similar to these, but not exactly the same obviously, with rounded rectangle lenses like the OPs but with wider arms:

Ideally, WGP could make these as well, but I only assumed they would not go to the trouble of modeling and molding as only a few might want them compared to the red OPs, heck, most people don't even notice these glasses, like his smokey blue OPs or his rings and such, even after repeat viewings. So I figured if they could just tint a few of the ones they are already making differently, with minimal customizing, or not since they're already very close, yellow OPs could serve as these other Durden specs.

Regardless, can I get a pair in yellow please?
I might even want a pair of OPs in the bluish/black style he sports in the airport.

No one has yet positively identified the yellow lens glasses that I've read, some think they are OP 523s with persimmon yellow lenses. The others he wears are the OP 523 with both gothic rose (red) and midnight express (a bluish black) lenses. I've read varying accounts about whether there were in fact orange used or not or if that's just a rumor. Oliver Peoples Aero in burnt orange (airplane), the Oliver Peoples Sunset in gothic rose (newscast) and he wore the Oakley Mars X-metal with gold iridium lenses.
