That pictures is atrocious, though. I don't think even Sideshow would dare to depict something so horrendous. Poor baby Trike.

The picture is a personal favorite. Gets past all the bravado which people typically tie into predator-prey relationships and cuts right to the meat... well, perhaps not the best word here :lol ... cuts right to the most realistic approach to a carnivore stalking a prey species. It's natural predatory instinct to target the young, sickly, or otherwise infirm individuals. Need a meal? Are you going to throw down against the herd patriarch who is sharpening his horns at the base of a tree, or are you going to grab the baby languishing on the forest periphery and run like hell? Baby gets it every time.

And on that pleasant note I'm headed back to bed to finish shaking off a hangover.:chew

Scar, I get the feeling that when watching nature documentaries while everyone else roots for the cute little prey you root for the predator. :lol

I love Sideshow's diorama, but now there's a dio to die for! :devil :rock :rock :rock
I love that pic. It shows the teeth chomping savagery of Dino's :rock

I have to disagree.
If Sideshow will make a line of Zombies, one with a half eaten hand, or a Berserker with a Rohan severed head, then I'm sure they would easily create something like the picture above.

As we've seen so far the Dino pieces (imo anyway) seem to be getting more savage and brutal as they are announced
As I say just my opinion though

i have to agree. when the t-rex vs trike dio came out, a lot of collectors were a bit shocked, some in good way, to see how bloody and gory it was compared to the prototype shots. i sure hope that would be the most extreme case of gory-ness this line would go. the deinosuchus vs parasaurolophus dio is alright, though the actual piece when in hand might shock us once again. that picture is not only gory and bloody, but really brutal! most may say "well that's how it is in nature, eat or be eaten"... or..."what do you expect from a feeding t-rex?! use utensils?!" but i think it can be given a much more subtle treatment. maybe remove the splashing, flying innards and blood, with the t-rex in mid-bloody roar? or maybe just picture the second before the rex chomps down on the trike, jaws agape and the baby dino screaming its last deathcry. just a little bit less brutal. but still a decapitated baby dino on the ground is a bit too much. just my opinion guys.

I certainly hope so, Shell! :emperor Part of what I like so very much about this line is that the artists aren't holding back, they're representing extremely well that primal fury which comes unfettered when predators and prey are locked in combat, playing tug-of-war with a life.

And that Berserker PF exclusive... how I wish I had kept that on pre-order.:monkey2 I still don't know how I would have managed to find room for it, but I will say it's overpowering coolness was making Lurtz's position on my shelf here more than a bit tenuous. :D
Speaking of Lord of the Rings, I'm going to be seeing a screening of TTT in Virginia at the end of August with a live orchestra. Jealous? ;)

I know, right? Just ask this Taiwanese crocodile!

"Predators - we're all about 'subtlety'."

Some of you keep saying this about "subtlety" with the gore, but it's simply not the way nature is. Hence the expression "Nature red in tooth and claw". You think this is brutal? I've sat and watched file footage of field research in which a zebra foal was being literally eaten alive for well over 45 minutes by a trio of hyenas as research for a paper I was writing on pack dynamics in mammalian carnivores. I kid you not, it took that damn animal over 45 minutes to die. Watching every second of that video as that zebra's life was brutally ripped from its body... THAT is brutal. That is the real world, and it's also what I'm glad Sideshow isn't afraid to depict for us. :D

I agree about Sideshow showing the gore and brutality in these scenes, but if any of them get too gory its just not something I would want. But I certainly don't want them to tone it down just for my sake. I say go for the realism.

Modern industrial society is certainly cocooned from the brutal realities of harsh survival. Unless you live in the bush, we don't see the amoral drama of eat or be eaten. Wasn't always that way though and not to conflate the issue, but less than a hundred years ago, I bet people actually saw their dinner being slaughtered by the local butcher. Now everything is wrapped in cellophane without the gore. The slaughter is still there - just outa sight and mind of course.

Still do, from time to time. To earn a little on the side I work at a turkey slaughterhouse just before Thanksgiving. Not going to lie, it's quite a fun time. :lol

Alrighty. I am officially creeped out by this guy, now.

Geh, you beat me to it. Just found that little tidbit in my newsletter. Totally psyched, though. :)

Supposed to arrive in October. :woo

:eek Well... that's just... much earlier than I had anticipated. Still, considering the Carnotaurus, it'll probably be October 31. ;) Fantastic news, though. I'm going to have to shuffle around some more items on my shelves earlier than expected to accommodate.

He's looking to be the longest statue of the lot, as well. This is really crazy, when you think about it. We're shelling out big bucks just so we can stuff another decorative object into our homes. God bless Sideshow. lol

Yeah, it could easily be late October. If its going to be early Oct. we should be getting our month notices though. I can't wait to see him next to the Carno. And then once the Styra gets here I am officially outta space.

I had figured the first of November myself...but October works as well...Nov he's my B-day Dino.. Oct he's my fav holiday Dino...and it fits even better..he is a little monsterish..sort of ala Freddy Krueger... ;D

Sadly I'm also running out of desk space here...but it's never stopped me before..lol

Maybe by Christmas we'll know what piece is coming after the Deinosuchus.. ;)
