Styrac definitely does not appear to be in scale from the shots I've seen from SDCC.

And I'm with ya on the future of humanity. I've been pitching for years now that the next major extinction event for this planet has a native organismal basis, that being humans. And I'm an optimist. :lol

Maybe we'll luck up and get something in scale at some point.. ;)

Heh, I haven't been a borderline optimist in..let's see..since at least 98' or so....you know..maybe opposable thumbs aren't all they're cracked up to be.. :/

Crichton's best book is JP to me..but then I'm complete dino-nut so there really isn't much of another answer for this one as far as I'm concerned...heh heh :D

The old Rex in the is piece really reminded me of SS maquette :

Terminal man was interesting, but probably not one of my favorites.

Blade, did you see Land of the Lost? That Rex looked like it had similar facial scarring - kind of impressive, actually.

Yeah we all went to go see it...not a bad film all things considered...there were parts that could have been better. I'm not sure blowing Alice up was really neccessary for instance. :/

Grumpy was a great character in his own right though and pretty much outshown the human characters...hard to do with Will Ferrel on the screen to be sure. ;) They did give him a lot of scars in the design...might have been a nod to the early 90's series whose Rex was named Scar.

I thought Prey was terrible. My favorite Crichton book would probably be Great Train Robbery.

A pity. He illustrated a really canny understanding of predator-prey models, as well as emergent behavior and distributed systems. All quite elegantly laid out so that the layman could understand, but that those familiar would be impressed with how well all said elements were executed as plot cornerstones.

I've never been disappointed in a Crichton book. What I like about him is that his style is so very diverse. You'll be greatly confused, disoriented, and possibly disappointed if you expect Eaters of the Dead, Andromeda Strain, or for that matter Prey to read much like JP or TLW... though for obvious reasons the last two of these are my favorites and both annual reads.

I thought the '90s version was Scarface? Either way, I'm glad they made Grumpy compelling. I'll admit he and his interactions with Will Ferrell were my incentives to see the film. To hear the filmmakers talk, they wanted people to be impressed with the detail in the dinosaurs. Quite laudable for a comedy.

I think I had the only three Dinos made from that Series..Scarface, the Pteranodon Glider and Tasha..I also bought the Sleestaks but I'm not sure they count as " dinosaurs "..the only two I still have and know where they are is the Ptero and minion Sleestack..the others are prob still at our old house with my dad..one day I will get to go through all that. The quality of them wasn't that great looking back..they should have just figures from the molds of the puppets that were actually used.

Eaters of the Dead, now that was one of my favorites. Brilliant execution.

I'm still reeling from the "giant walnut" scene. LoL.

Agreed. I remember traveling all over in search of the Sleestak leader, Shung. :lol

Also a magnificent read. Again, I've never been disappointed. Congo turned out vastly superior to the film, which I still enjoy in an odd sort of way; if for no other reason than the SWS grey apes.

I thought The 13th Warrior turned out surprisingly good. Kind of silly to change an already-intriguing title, though. Maybe they thought it would disgust people?

Lol..that was pretty hilarious..the Rex must have bee na mind reader t oknow what he was thinking though..lol

I had that figure of Shung..lol I actually liked the look of the minion one better there...and shung couldn't hold that crystal sword nearly as well as the real actor could..lol I bought one of the Congo apes to go with my Godzilla figures by Trendmasters...heh..sort of a corrupt Kong I guess.

The Congo figures weren't bad, AND the figures and vehicles were in perfect scale with the JP figures. :rock

25 Day notice? I'm guessing this means they're expecting the piece to arrive in their warehouse within 25 days. Sorry, I'm a Sideshow noob.
