Well after seeing the pics of the full maquette I caved in and put in my preorder. After that I signed in on the waitlists for the other 2 pieces.
There's several issues for me though; in a collection consisting mainly of 1/6 military I'm not sure how I can fit these beasts in.
Also, they ain't exactly cheap and I have very little confidence in the factory paintjobs. The base on this T-rex looks like a typical example of how a proto looks awesome and the production falls short. I'm sorry, too many bad experiences I suppose.
The exclusives are awesome but living in EU I need to pay an extra 20% VAT. That's a lot of dough for a skull.

This T-rex is so original in approach. The scarring almost makes me feel sorry for the bloodthirsty b*tch. I love how the head has this furious redish look, even though I don't really understand why they went that way.

This is my absolute favourite shot:

Yup....I hope the EX is like 100...

I think so to...I've already started construction on a new custom air tight display case for this line. Hope they ship sooner than later...

Chris

Although I'd love an ES of 100 I doubt it will be maybe 200
anything between 100-200 is my guess

Well, look at it this way. Man is predatory by nature; militaries represent the height of mankind's (current) martial potential, honed over time and made possible by one of the greatest weapons evolution has ever bestowed upon an organism in this world - the human brain. Evolution granted dinosaurs, carnivores and herbivores alike, with remarkable responses to environmental hardship, including weapons to survive in the evolutionary arms race. Human military figures fit right into the Red Queen hypothesis just as well as Tyrannosaurus rex.

There. Now you can buy the Dinosauria collectibles. :D

If you're confused about the red cranial coloration, go back a few pages and scroll through the comments. You should find ample explanation.

Cool Toy Review has up some hi-res pics.

Nice pics. They really show off the detail of the piece, plus I love the action pose. Glad I ordered it.

Thank You Sir, now if I can convince my wife of this I'll be running my polystone little JP soon :)

I dont see the appeal of collecting those but its a great sculpt.

I'm getting a Disney Carnotaurus vibe from it with the red coloration and and the dermal spikes, which isn't a bad thing mind you since their design, while far too large, was still very cool.

I hope that in the production piece they manage to keep the menace in those eyes. That of an attentive predator with a primal fury roiling and ready to be unleashed.

In this pic, it's interesting that you can see tooth puncture marks on the lower jaw, as well as what are either cuts that go straight to the bone, or some malformations due to the bone disease.

The skull literally appears armored, with age having tempered the brow and crest of reinforced bone proceeding down the naris towards the front of the jaw.

I hope they don't make all the dinosaurs in this line too battered and bloody. Since these seem to be the premium dinosaur collectibles to own I'd like them to be presented in their glorious prime, not as shredded bloody messes. ;)

I think the T-Rex is the exception for that, since it's been done by everybody in every form except for old, bloody, and battered.

Can't wait to see the Stegosaurus!

Oh yeah, a standalone Triceratops is a must! The diorama is nice, but I'd rather have individual statues.

Looking at those high res pics, the paint apps on this are going to have to be really good or this piece will suffer trememdously. There are alot of gouges and scarring that will look pitiful if not done right.

My fear right there. Honestly, considering this is a mass production item, will it even be possible to get that kind of quality? Then again, at a premium price, maybe we should. Boy, I'm just too scared to get my hopes up...

Following these previews I keep thinking of the first time I learned about dinosaurs, 5 years old maybe, it was a painting in a magazine showing a frontal of a small dino being chased by a T-rex. The sheer difference in size made such an impression on me that I was sold for good. I've never seen that painting again but would love to get a print.

I'm very curious to see what else sideshow is preparing for us.

The paint apps won't be as good as the prototype, that's a given, but hopefully they will still be great.
