Gotta agree with Matt Hughes.

Matt Hughes -"Rashad lost because of bad coaching"

I went back and watched the Rashad fight again, and I think it comes down to bad coaching. In the prefight press conference, I heard Rashad say that he didn't bring anybody in who would resemble Machida's style. When I heard that, I knew that there might be some problems. That is probably a big reason why Rashad didn't do very well in the striking area. I also think Rashad should have been coached on using his wrestling talent. He didn't shoot one takedown that I can remember and he just made it a sparring match. If I was to coach Rashad against Machida, I would have told him to make it a fight, use his wrestling and groundwork to really dictate the match. Not just go out and spar with him. I think Rashad could have done a lot better in that fight. I'm not saying he should have won, but he's a lot better than he showed on Saturday.

Worst gameplan ever for Evans, made no sense.

Van Damme is making a movie about Machida.

I dont think gameplans have nothing to do with it, you could see the confusion in Rashaads eyes, he was just not able to figure out a way to attack Machida, and when he would try somethin he would eat a straight left in the mouth....

but had he have trained agianst someone that could to some level mimic Machida he might not have had the deer in headlights look he had during the fight.

Well that is a given, but imo it's more of Evans' fault than any of this camp or coaches. Evans is a wrestler before he was even known as a striker.

Ive always said and thought that his stand up was way over rated. I see holes in it even when he fought chuck and griff. It was just a matter of time before he got put in his place by a competent enough striker. I think ego or confidence in his new found knock out prowess had him dazzled that he can forget about his wrestling base and just go in there and bang. anyways, im glad he got folded.

All of that, plus the fact that Machida is just a bad ass. the dude was kicking Evans in his face from like 10 feet away. :lol

Like who!? There isn't another fighter out there who uses a style that even remotely resembles Machida's. Could you get someone to TRY and mimic that? Yeah.. but it wouldn't matter much come fight night because Machida is so unorthodox I doubt anything you trained for would actually happen IN the fight.

Exactly, I can't think of a training partner that would have even remotely resembled Machida. :dunno

Gold Olympic Medalist Ishii passes on the UFC and signs with Sengoku....So I guess his career is over and meaningless, i.e. Fedor since he's not in the UFC.

This thread needs a Bump... Someone???

Forrest Griffin did a book singing in Huntington NY tonight. Very funny personable guy.

He said among other things that he's got about 5 years left in the sport.

When asked who he would fight if he could pick anyone he would fight Rampage again. He said Rampage legitimately hates him for beating him the first time and he can't figure out why, he never did or said anything bad about the guy. Rampage just had a bad night, and Forrest had a good game plan. He told a very funny story about how Rampage was making fun of Rashad's man boobs over and over and Mike Tyson said Rampage was an idiot....and if Tyson calls you an idiot....too damn funny.

Someone asked how he feels about fighting Anderson Silva and he made a comment along the lines of how he didn't pick him to fight, if it was up to him he'd fight someone in the audience, but no one would pay to see that. :lol He can't help it if they keep putting him in with great fighters he said jokingly. He said (without saying it outright) that Dana picked him to fight because win or lose, Forrest's fights are never boring, and Dana told him it needs to be an exciting fight. Forrest as sacrificial lamb? :lol

Someone asked him about how he feels about Shogun fighting Machida and he said good for him, (shogun) he'd rather fight Shogun again and laughed. He said Machida would be bad for all the "Karate dork point sparrers" because now their going to think they can fight and get their asses kicked.

I know there's plenty of Forrest / Ultimate Fighter haters out there, but he came across as a funny humble guy, and personally I think he's been good for the sport. I know a lot of people preferred MMA when it was a big secret society and underground and had more mystique. Personally I think the exposure is good. I wish they would legalize it in New York already.:banghead

People asked about his training for fights, and how he stays motivated and he said he just likes to fight. He said he knows he's not the greatest striker or ju jitsu guy and he sucks at wrestling but he tries as hard as he can and works hard and does his best. You gotta respect that. Anyone that saw his all access show knows he's a hard worker.

Overall a fun time.

Yeah, Griffin fights are never boring, this one will be extra entertaining by watching him get KTFO.....:rotfl

It depends which Silva shows up and if Forrest sticks to his gameplan and is always pushing forward. This fight will tell us if Anderson is a legitimate LHW.

I think Anderson need a much better test than Forrest to prove how legitimate he is, Griffin is a joke, I wanna see him try those leg kicks on the Spider.....

A joke? I think not. Top 5 LHW's? No. But he is still a test. I also (like you) think Anderson is going to win but Forrest is not a joke, unless you think winning the LHW belt is then yes Forrest is a joke.:D

LOL :lol Kimbo Slice is one of the contestants on the next TUF season.
