Gold Olympic Medalist Ishii passes on the UFC and signs with Sengoku....So I guess his career is over and meaningless, i.e. Fedor since he's not in the UFC.

How many top HW's are in Sengoku again? Riiiiiight. And if you read the whole story you'd see Ishii said based on the advice he was given, it wouldn't be a good choice for him to initially fight in the states, UFC or otherwise. And when asked about the future: He sees himself fighting in the U.S. within 5 years. Guess where? :gun

LOL :lol Kimbo Slice is one of the contestants on the next TUF season.

:lol. I think it'll be interesting to see how he does and if he's learned anything since fighting Seth. IMHO that fight WAS his first real MMA fight. And you saw the result.

RUMORED TUF 10 HW'S
Kimbo Slice (3-1)
Mike Wessel (6-1)
Rex Richards (8-1)
Brendan Schaub (4-0)
Scott Junk (6-2)
Marcus Jones (4-2)
Josh Watson (2-0)
Miguel Gonzalez (3-0)
Michael Ettl (7-0)
Rob Broughton (9-4-1)
Yusuke Kawaguchi (8-1)
Mario Rinaldi (9-3)
Buddy Roberts (6-1)
Justin Wren (8-1)
Jim York (10-2)
Jared Kilkenny (9-6)
Darrell Schoonover (9-0)
Eric Poling (3-2)
Ricardo Romero (7-1)
Bobby Jones (2-0)
Matt Mitrione (0-0)
Fabio Maldonado (9-2)
Lavar Johnson (12-3)

He's good for ratings though, I imagine he will be on the show.

It's the same case with Brock Lesnar, except Brock has size and athletic ability. He came from the WWE even though many UFC fans hated that and other MMA fans laughed. If kimbo wins it's because the dudes are scared of him. I will definetly watch and see how this turns out.

Really? The last time I saw him interviewed he had said he has one fight left on his contract and was trying to work with Strikeforce to get that figured out. Then after that was figured out, he wanted to concentrate on moving into boxing and leaving MMA behind him.

I actually enjoy Kimbo. Im looking forward to seeing him in action. He can def bang and is a strong guy but his technical skills need work which he knows that. Season will be an interesting one for sure. And Kimbo will be the one every one will want to fight. So yes ratings will be good.

Ishii will be 1000x more popular fighting for overseas. As far as top HW's, the UFC hasn't had a #1 ranked HW in over 6 years.

They should of put Brock on the show. But I hope Kimbo wins it all. I wonder if he got some extra cash for going on the show. Because he will bring an audience. Hopefully he gets on Rampages Team.

It looks like there is only 16 HWs on TUF. No fights to get in the house. A bit convenient eh? I don't blame the UFC brass though, this next season is going to get some good ratings.

yeah that doesnt surprise me at all.
id think HW's are much more prone to get a long term injury during the fight-ins.

The last time the did HW's they all sucked. I think Rashad won it and he was the smallest guy on the show. That was awhile ago. The UFC needs HW's.

They sure do. Supposedly Dana has a new announcement coming that will change MMA for ever. Thats a big statement, rumours are the signing of Fedor or the HBO deal or sponsors. But I'm still waiting for the New MW fighter Dana said was going to be a shocker.

Just read this article, and thats a crazy contract.

Why didn't Fedor just sign with the UFC? -

Fedor's interview: "I never met Dana White, never spoke to him on the phone, never exchanged e-mails. However, I did read a lot on the Internet about what he said in regard to me and Vadim. I also read e-mails that he sent to Vadim; all of his correspondence was very upsetting.

The contract that we were presented with by the UFC was simply impossible, couldn't be signed, I couldn't leave. If I won, I had to fight eight times in two years. If I lost one fight, then the UFC had the right to rip up the contract. At the conclusion of the contract, if I am undefeated, then it automatically extends for an as yet unspecified period of time, though for the same compensation.

Basically I can't leave undefeated. I can't give interviews, appear in films or advertising. I don't have the right to do anything without the UFC's agreement. I could do nothing without the OK from the UFC. I didn't have the right to compete in combat sambo competition. It's my national sport. It's the Russian sport, which I no longer have the right compete in.

There were many such clauses; the contract was 18 pages in length. It was written in such a way that I had absolutely no rights while the UFC could at any moment, if something didn't suit them, tear up the agreement. We worked with lawyers who told us that it was patently impossible to sign such a document."

SOME OF THE UFC CONTRACT TERMS:
-The Agreement grants likeness rights to Zuffa on a worldwide, exclusive basis, an exclusive license prohibiting even the sale of autographed photographs. The term of it lasts FOREVER, and the Marketing Rights for fighter are held by Zuffa EVEN AFTER A FIGHTER IS CUT. It operates to strip the fighter himself of the opportunity to profit on his own Identity in the marketplace.

I thought it was funny when Shogun was recently interview after the Chuck fight saying he was good friends with Fedor and at the afterpartys from the Pride shows, Fedor had the most beautiful girls. I imagine that Pride hooked these fighters up with alot of poontang, must of been nice.

Dana says EVERYTHING is a huge announcement and will be a shocker. I wouldn't hold your breath.. it'll most likely be something lame. I remember dude said that before and it turned out to be a deal for UFC action figures. :lol

SHOCKING!!!!

 There's 2 sides to every story. I like how you don't mention both. Way to be unbiased man.

According to the UFC, the reason they couldn't sign Fedor is because his management. NOT Fedor. If it were just the UFC and Fedor dude would've already been fighting there. It's Fedor's management M-1 specifically Vadim Finkelstein that continually stalls the contract process. Finkelstein wanted among other absurd things:

  • The UFC to sign Fedor's teammates from The Red Devils
  • The UFC to build a stadium in Russia
  • The UFC to co-promote MMA events in Russia with M-1. The catch? The only thing M-1 would be doing is bringing in Fedor i.e. they wouldn't be doing ANY actual work, yet they expected 50% of the profits for "co-promotion"
  • The UFC to allow Fedor to compete in Combat Sambo (Which is MMA just with some small pads)
  • The option to PICK Fedor's opponents

All this for a guy who's barely known in the United States and who can't sell PPV's: He's Main Evented 3 U.S. PPV's and ALL 3 got less than a 100,000 buy rate. Which is terrible. Not to mention ALL 3 shows LOST money. But this is the guy that M-1 and Vadim Finkelstein think deserves all of the things listed above + more!?

Riiiiight...

I think the UFC has good HW's. Fedor isn't a must. If he wants to be called Pound for Pound then he should join the UFC.

I cant believe Fedor told the UFC to build him a Stadium. They guy did sign with M1 and in PRIDE he never had crazy demands, that sound like Dana White nonsense. And far as picking opponents, his last three fights will be against 3 former UFC champs. He's fighting the #2 ranked HW it dont get any better, and Barnett could easily beat Fedor, it wouldn't be a major upset.

And the details in the UFC contract can be verified, another fighters contract was leaked and posted online and had those details in it. If I was a no name fighter I would sign it. It's like the WWE contracts, and why Dwayne Johnson cannot be called "The Rock" or make money off that character. Its good business for the UFC and it makes sense, but I understand Fedor not signing it. I still think he may sign with the UFC if he beats Barnett.

Thats just a typical American closed minded statement. Anything outside the states is below you. If Fedor wants to be P4P he should fight the #2 ranked fighter in the World, who is Barnett, so that makes no sense. Wouldn't you wanna see the #1 v #2 ranked fighters fight. I could never understand that logic. And the same goes with the US fans booing, even during the Machida v Evans fight.

I just wanna see the best fights, I dont care if its the UFC, DREAM, Japan, Brazil just fight. The UFC has the cream of the crop except Fedor who is the best MMA fighter ever, and I'm so Happy he's fighting Barnett. Thats should be the biggest fight ever, but the US fans love the WWE Brock Lesner. Its typical American Fashion, they only like what there told to, But the other fight I cant wait for is Machida v Shogun in Oct.
