FEDOR is a freaking TERMINATOR and really has nothing to prove. Sure I would like to see him in the UFC and it would be a shame he never strikes that deal with Dana because the fans deserve it and I believe he would clean house like he does in whatever organization he fights in. Regardless he will go down in MMA history as being one of the most memorable ass kicking machines ever.

Dana says EVERYTHING is a huge announcement and will be a shocker. I wouldn't hold your breath.. it'll most likely be something lame. I remember dude said that before and it turned out to be a deal for UFC action figures.

I've been disappointed so many times by his huge announcements.

I still like to speculate though. I'm going to guess TV deal.

Machida after 1 fight is the greatest fighter ever, jump on the bad wagon. Shogun will win, then you guys will love him.

Who said that!? I must've missed it. I don't think Machida is the greatest fighter ever, imo the only credible LHW he's fought so far has been Rashad. At least the only top 5 LHW he's fought. He has a long way to go. Lately NO ONE has been able to keep the LHW title.. because the division is so stacked. So we'll see.. if Machida beats Shogun and then Rampage/Evans again then maybe people can start saying he's something special. But it's way too early to tell at this point imo. He needs more wins.

The same could be said about anderson silva then. Who in the middleweight class has he beaten that makes him the best ever? or Fedor?

Imo the LHWs Machida has beaten, he put them to shame pretty badly. Sure they were not current champion material, but majority of his opponents have been top tier guys. I dont think he is the best ever, there is no such thing as the best ever. the sport is constantly evolving as well as the fighters. just when you think youve seen it all, someone will come along and show you more.

that, right there, is why I'll watch MMA no matter who the hell is fighting ... :monkey1

The same could be said about anderson silva then.

Strictly comparing competition in the UFC:

Anderson Silva

Chris Leben - Unranked - KO
Rich Franklin - UFC MW Champion (Top 5 MW Then) - KO
Travis Lutter - Unranked - Submission (Elbows)
Nate Marquardt - 1st Title Defense (Top 5 MW Then and Now) - TKO
Rich Franklin II - 2nd Title Defense (Top 5 MW Then) - TKO
Dan Henderson - PRIDE MW Champion (Top 5 MW then and Now) 3rd Title Defense + Unified the UFC and PRIDE MW Titles - Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
James Irvin - LHW - KO
Patrick Cote - Unranked I believe - TKO (Injury)
Thales Leites - Top 10 MW (Then and Now) - Decision (Unanimous)

Lyoto Machida

Sam Hoger - Unranked - Decision (Unanimous)
David Heath - Unranked - Decision (Unanimous)
Kazuhiro Nakamura - Unranked - Decision (Unanimous)
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou - Top 10 LHW (Then) - Submission (Arm Triangle)
Tito Ortiz - Unranked - Decision (Unanimous)
Thiago Silva - Top 10 LHW (Then and Now) - KO
Rashad Evans - UFC LHW Champion (#1 Ranked LHW) - KO

Anderson gets so much praise because he cleared out the UFC MW division and in the process, finished 4 Top 5 MWs (Franklin Twice, Marquardt and Henderson) Unified the PRIDE and UFC MW Titles, Has the most consecutive wins in the UFC (9) and holds the record for most consecutive Title Defenses in the UFC (6).

Machida hasn't come close to doing any of that.. YET. Like I said.. he has a wide open road ahead. Unlike Fedor, A.Silva and B.J. Penn, Machida and GSP are in divisions that have almost ALL the Top 10 fighters IN the UFC. So it's possible for a UFC WW/LHW to clear out 99% of the Top 10 (general consensus).

If Machida managed to do that, or even GSP.. there would be no question they were (at that time) the best because that's never been done before. No fighter (Yeah NASEDO not even Fedor) has ever beaten that many current Top 10 fighters in their division.

thats an extrmemely great list of fighters to have beaten........GSP is gettin there though, im not a hardcore mma fan like a lot of you guys, dont get me wrong, i love practicing mma and jiu jitsu and shiz like that, as far as fedor goes, i have never seen one of his fights, and i havent really heard of a lot of his oppenents, and from what i hear, he pretty much gets to pick them, which is gay, but i think he hasnt beaten some of the guys i think he should for me to declare him the best in the world; at this point, i think silva has more impressive wins then fedor, and i think couture is the best fighter ever, at this point in time though

BTW-i do hope dana announces an HBO deal, we dont get to see enough UFC imo, and im not the type to pay $50 on a ppv event :monkey1 that faber fight should be intersting this weekend though, is it me, or does it seem like he always gets to fight in his hometown

Devil to add to your point Anderson actually set a new record for wins in the UFC at 9. The longest was 8.

Oh ok. I thought the streak was 9. Thanks for the correction!!!

The record before was held by Royce Gracie then a tie with Jon Fitch then a 3 way tie with A.Silva. You're right.

EDIT: Anderson Silva actually DOES hold the record for most consecutive UFC title Defenses (6).

I done messed up. :lol
