I think most of the "hate" stemmed from his fight at WW vs. GSP, Nash. I still think BJ looked completely foolish with all his comments going into that fight about "To the Death" and mocking GSP (or any fighter) for "tapping out". Especially when he quit and refused to continue fighting.
Never saw a lot of people hating on Penn at LW.

naw like i said before, i think people like to hate penn because it's easy. same as with brock. why would you hate someone for saying 'to the death', when essentially 90% of the fighters before have already said that very same thing? Ive seen so many fighters say that they'll never tap or never give up, only to tap or get ktfo, etc. it's all talk and hype. people take it way too seriously, and i just don't get it.
with all of that said, people seem to somehow correlate that to penn not being able to fight or do anything but whine and cry nowdays. so many people all over the net were already counting penn out just because of his loss to GSP, when they don't even bother to realize the circumstances of that fight. Penn was the smaller guy, GSP the bigger guy with a lot of talent at that weight class.
anyways, this is just a very satisfying victory in a very satisfying way...rear naked choke. now that really shows who quit and who didnt.

no definitely not. I am fully aware and recognize that penn gave up and couldn't continue the gsp fight. he even said he is thankful for parillo stopping it because he doesnt even remember anytihng past the 2nd round. But just all the pre-fight press saying that BJ will give up or BJ will quit, etc etc etc. that's all i was referring to. It's like the saying goes, people only remember you by your last performance.
and Kenny is a BJJ blackbelt....regardless if he is not on the same level as BJ, you dont just get rear naked choked out of nowhere. that is one of the most difficult submissions to pull off on someone who is not gassed or severely injured.

Watched the fight agian and you can hear Joe Rogan say how Forest is throwing at half speed....um sorry but you dont "feel someone out at half speed". I recall Evans standing over Forrest hitting him and Forrest was looking up smiling. last night a back pedeling jab KO's him and then he's up running. Sorry but the whole fight was FAKE. Silva knocks down Forrest the sticks his hand out to help him up...WTF. I never wannna see Forrest fight agian, ^^^king bum!

Tell that to BJJ Black Belt Joe Stevenson who got rear naked choked by both Penn and Florian. Joe wasn't gassed or severly injured in either fight. He was cut badly and bleeding from the top of the head in the Penn fight, but I think by "severly injured" you mean like just rocked by punches etc. And he wasn't hurt at all or gassed vs. Florian.
And FYI: I think a gogo or omaplata submission would be considerably harder to pull off. Especially on a BJJ Black Belt.

hence why i said 'one of', but i agree omo or gogo is pretty damn tough too lol.
The way i see it, penn was beating florian at ever aspect of the fight, there was nowhere else for him to go once he got taken down. bang, choked out let's just go home.
Seriously though, people give Florian so much credit for the Stevenson fight, but in reality that is the toughest opponent he has fought up until penn. that is kind of sad considering Stevenson has never even held a title or anything close to it. Kenflo may have submitted him quicker, but BJ sure damn did make a mess of his face over the few rounds before he choked him out.
When Kenflo fights Machida at an open weight fight, two Gracies, or Hughes in his hayday, or GSP, then talk about how versatile and great he has become. not after he has just fought a joe stevenson.

I dont know about that one. Lose ...maybe crush no way. Sanchez is a tough fighter and style wise poses a tough match up for BJ. JMO
agree, sanchez usually brings it all to fights. but i think BJ is too strong for him in the striking department and is a better grappler. The only thing i can see Diego do is hold BJ down and try to GnP. But who knows, BJ has fought a lot of bigger opponents before and done decent, besides against GSP.

I'll agree with that but Sanchez is a big LW and that could cause BJ problems if Sanchez gets top position.
Definitely. I could see Sanchez as sort of the poor man's Gsp almost. quick, big, and strong in his wrestling.
But man, BJ looked good tonight. he looks like he did when he first started in the UFC.
