It's a bit of a stretch, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Couture got a title shot should he beat Vera. The guy gets some privilage.

I'd be shocked if Randy could beat Vera. That said a win over Randy puts Vera near the top for a title shot. JMO

Couture gets pampered IMO. He get's title shots after losing some times and if he gets a shot after Vera I won't be a fan because he didn't earn it. I like Couture, I really do but he's kind of dillusional. He might mentally be in his prime but physically there's no way. This better be free.

If this is free then it's a solid card. If not then a bad card. Moving Lil Nog off the card is a mistake IMO, unless he is injured. I think that would have made a strong card with Couture vs Vera, Bisping, and Lil Nog all on the card.

BTW it seems Luiz Cane and Thiago Silva are actually friends now so a grudge match between the two is unlikely. They might fight but it won't be a grudge match.

Its not gonna be free. The UFC fight night on Wed is being tabbed as "the best free event this year".

when was the last time Vera beat anybody good though??i cant even remember the last time that guy had a fight :duh i think it puts him in the bottom part of the top 10, but no title shot in near sight imo, thats a fight he should win

Do you watch the UFC at all? He was on the Randy/Nog card at UFC 102 and won a unamious decision. He's won 3 fights in a row at LHW and a win over the UFC's golden boy would raise his profile a ton and put him near the top of the LHW division.

no, hes won 2 fghts in a row, and against descent fighters, he needs to beat someone with the likes of Bader, Jones,Anderson, Rua, Rashad,Franklin,Jackson or Thiago for me to say that he is close to the top. A more likely fight i think after he beats Couture, he should fight either Jones or Bader to really test one of those guys.

As for tonight, I think the main event is another fight with a stand up guy vs a ground guy. Diaz has weak stand up, but Melvin gets submittted a lot, so i think thats how that fight will be decided..............

I found another article about Kimbo and Bas;

Kimbo Slice has responded to comments made about him recently by his former MMA coach Bas Rutten.

Rutten told Fighters Only in June that Kimbo “turned into a whole different person… I told him that he was an ^^^^^^^. He just turned into a different guy, he didn’t need to do the things that I told him to do”.

TUF 10 contestant Slice expressed surprise when Fighters Only put Rutten’s comments to him today, saying he had “no idea he felt that way”.

He explained, “I guess with him, he pretended to be a friend but he really wasn’t I guess. It was just business with him. You pay a guy good money to teach you things and be a good teacher and they take your money.

“But then they turn round and say ‘I tried to teach you stuff but its not working’?… Come on man, you’re not a good teacher - so really he owes me some money right?” Slice laughed. “But its all good, we all do what we gotta do.”

Slice and Rutten parted ways shortly after EliteXC folded and both sides have expressed satisfaction at the split. Slice is now a contestant on season ten of The Ultimate Fighter, which features an all-heavyweight cast.

Conflicting rumours abound of how Slice has fared on the show, but the man himself remains tight-lipped. All he would say when asked how he did on the show was “wait and see”.

Did any of you guys see the recent comments by Bob Arum towards MMA and the fans?

I don't normally care for the guy that wrote this article but he is pretty much right on with Arum's comments and the Boxing worlds view of MMA.

https://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/12206453

Here are a few of Arum's quotes:

For me, I look at the UFC audience and the boxing audience as being two different audiences entirely," Arum told AOL Fanhouse. "Our audience in boxing is ethnic. Hispanic, Filipino, Puerto Rican, Mexican and the hardcore boxing fan who can't watch ... like me ... can't watch UFC. UFC are (sic) a bunch of skinhead white guys watching people in the ring who also look like skinhead white guys."

"For me, and people like me, [MMA] is not something they ever care to see," Arum explained. "They've watched it. It's horrible. Guys rolling around like homosexuals on the ground. It is not a sport that shows great, great talent."

"There is no way the (UFC 100) pay-per-view generated the kind of numbers they put out. I know what the numbers were — south of one million. They’re not a public company. Who’s to check?" - Arum.

that fool is a stupid ass, the MMA world is just as diverse as boxing, hell, we have 2 guys who dont really speak english too well in the UFC as champions. He's just butt hurt cause the boxing world isnt as popular as MMA is now. Boxers are only rounded in one aspect of fighting, while MMA fighters are well rounded in every aspect of fighting, so how does that make a boxer more talented then a MMA fighter?

This is true (except that I don't think UFCers know as much about boxing as boxers do--"a jack of all trades is a master of none"), but you can't blame those guys. They see something they love going the way of the dinosaur, and denial ain't just a river. Of course they aren't being rational. They are pissed off, and are looking for hope, and for an answer to what is going on, even if they refuse to face the real truth.

When MMA gets replaced by something different, MMA fans will act similarly.

I watch and enjoy both Boxing and MMA. I don't really understand why people hate on one or the other etc tbh.

Regarding that article about Kimbo Nash, that's a response to Bas calling Kimbo an A-Hole. :lol

The Sam Stout vs. Phillipe Nover fight was cancelled after Nover reportedly had a seizure backstage while prepping for the bout.

Wow.. day 1 TUF deja vu for Nover. :lol
