I dont think there was anything wrong with Machida, thats how he always fights.

I don't mean how he fought.. I was saying what's up with elevating his legs and icing them!?

#3 I just dont understand why Rua was such an underdog, +450 is crazy!!!!!! I always check the odds and I couldn't believe it for this fight. How can Shogun be +450 after coming off an impressive victory over Chuck, and also being considered at one time the best in the world??

Simple: He got choked out by Forrest Griffin, he looked like absolute crap against Coleman and he KO'ed a Chuck Liddell who was 1 - 3 in his last four fights with two of those being (T)KO losses. Regardless of the reasons why (surgery, marriage, etc.) that will affect peoples opinion and betting odds.

I imagine Machida was trying to reduce swelling and pain, and trying not to lose mobility. Shogun kicked the crap out of him. I thought Shogun had a chance of cracken a rib on Machida, his ribs were bright red. I'm sure Machida was hurting the next day.

The leg kicks were a great plan to the Karate style, I wonder if all will follow, but I imagine in the rematch Shogun lets lose, but after such a devastating lose I find it hard for Shougun to get inspiried again.

I don't see why Shogun should get a rematch right away, other fighters have lost close fights and not gotten the rematch right away. I'd like to see them each fight someone else first before a rematch. JMO

Nope. Shogun did nothing of significance in the first round. And between rounds 1 and 2 is when Machida first started elevating his legs and was getting them iced (Thighs AND Hamstrings).

Damn, looks like Brock has piggy flu.

...and as if Rampage hadn't burned his bridge bad enough...

From Sherdog,

Quinton Jackson says Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was robbed Saturday in his decision loss to Lyoto Machida, and “Rampage” is pointing his finger at the UFC as the culprit.

“I was watching the fight this weekend with the director of the A Team movie, the movie crew & a couple of actors & I never been ashamed to be a part of MMA till now,” reads a Monday blog post on Jackson’s Web site, www.rampage-jackson.com. “The UFC looked like ^^^^^^^s this weekend. The main event was boring. I anticipated that because let's be real.. Machida is a boring fighter. But Shogun getting robbed like that was pretty cut throat. Then you hear Joe Rogan say you "you have to beat the champ to be a champ." & that made me think the UFC are full of s---! Not to be whiny here but I still don't feel like I've been beat in the UFC.. but I'm not champ anymore. If the UFC gives Shogun an immediate rematch because of the controversial loss then that would validate everything I have said about the UFC in my recent posts & why I'm pissed at the UFC. But yet he deserves one & so have I deserved one against Forrest.

“The reason why I was ashamed of the UFC is because some people around me were saying that the UFC is becoming corrupt like boxing & asked me is that stuff real? Most of the people from the A Team movie were just watching it because I was watching it & they don't know much about MMA & were starting to get into it but last night they didn't have anything good to say about my sport. So I was so ashamed.”

It should be noted, however, that the UFC does not select judges. That responsibility belongs to athletic commissions such as the California State Athletic Commission, which assigned and oversaw the officials who worked UFC 104.

Jackson also criticized his portrayal on “The Ultimate Fighter 10” in his Monday blog post: “They never should have tried to make me look bad cause I'm the wrong person to pull that type of crap with. Cause I don't give a f--- about the TUF show or about the UFC.”

The post concludes with a call to action.

“The UFC needs to get some new judges before I even think about coming back,” it reads. “I want the hardcore fans to go back & watch all the fights that you thought was kinda shady with the judges in the UFC & TUF & write down the names of the judges so you guys can complain & have a voice. Do your homework. This sport wouldn't be what it is without the fans. Its hard for me to believe that the UFC is so successful & has over 100 shows & can't tell who wins a fight. How is it that they can't tell who wins a fight on an important title fight? Me doing TUF 10 & seeing how they edited it now & seeing how Wes Shivers lost his fight is making me very skeptical about the UFC. Note to TUF: Anybody involved in making the TUF show do me a big favor... Don't look at me cause you're fake. Don't talk to me cause you're fake. Don't even think about me cause you're fake. & if you do you might just get cussed the f--- out.”

Hope acting works out dude.

Um.. if Rampage wouldn't have went on a rampage in his monster truck smashing into cars and having an emotional breakdown maybe he would've gotten an immediate rematch. Dude is seriously turning into an idiot.

:lecture :lecture I always thought he was a little off mentally. Dude just seems like he has a hint of Bipolar in him.

Forrest Griffin is my worst hated fighter, but I thought he beat Rampage. And alot of people are disgusted about the Machida-Shogun fight, go to the UG and read in those forums. Rogan just posted there and said he thought Shogun won, Dana White the president had Shogun winning, Shogun deserve a immediate rematch.

Is the sport becoming corrupt like boxing??? I'm sure the mob or whoever will try to get a hand in there, it killed boxing. The UFC is bringing in alot of betting money, if Shogun would have won alot of bookies would of been bankrupt. I dont blame the UFC or Dana but those judges blew it.

It was close but I just dont feel Machida did enough to win. I actually think he did nothing. It was almost like a sparring session. and Ramage is right, Machida is a boring fighter.

Agreed. But I don't think Shogun did enough to win either. And he admitted as much. Shogun said after round 3 his corner told him he was up 3-0 so he felt he didn't have to press in rounds 4 and 5. Now disregarding the fact that that's complete BS; I have little respect for fighters who have that mentality and don't press to finish a fight and instead are 100% ok to win by points and a decision; Shogun lost because of his corner and his own decison to coast to a decison victory. 2 judges had it 1-2 Machida/Shogun going into the 4th round. If Shoguns corner would've pleaded with him to go out with a bang, and if Shogun on his own would've pressed the action and actually did something, he would've won a split decison. But he didn't.

I can't honestly say either fighter won that fight. Neither did anything significant. Neither was dominant.

You asked what I meant by "To be the Champ, you have to beat the Champ". It doesn't have anything to do with KO's or submissions. Randy Couture BEAT Tim Sylvia and won the belt. That went to decision. Fedor BEAT Big Nog the first time and won the PRIDE belt. That went to decison. It was clear who won those fights. There's no dispute. Those fights were not close.

"To be the Champ, you have to beat the Champ" is a simple addage like "Tie goes to the Runner". When in doubt.. when it's too close to call in real time.. you call the runner who stepped on first base at the EXACT same time as the first basemen caught the ball safe. It's a rule of thumb. Nothing more.

:lecture You sir are correct. Neither one of these guys seemed like they were going all out during the fight. While I wanted Machida to win, I upset with the fight. Glad I got to watch it for free because if I paid $$ to see it I'd demand a refund.

how far pushed back is the lesnar carwin fight? i hope they don't give carwin a fight in the meantime.
