I thinks thats Brandons wife? These guys are in vegas all the time (well, not penn). One of the gyms I go to, Wandy works out at.

Yup that was Kerry.
If I could meet any fighters it would be Couture. I would like train with him for a day. He's the man!

Put another stake in the heart of the oversaturation argument. As if it hadn't been disproved enough times, the argument has taken another hit, because the 8th MMA show in the period of 5 weeks drew a monster buyrate. According to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription only), UFC 107 did 620,000 buys, blowing away all expectations.

I've long argued that oversaturation isn't a problem as long as the UFC can deliver good shows. There's no way to argue that "too many shows" caused the poor UFC 106 number while UFC 107 did such a big one just two weeks later. Oversaturation is a problem in that it limits the UFC's ability to adapt when stars get injured because there are less replacements, and it may lead to weaker shows overall, but the concept that fans will skip a good looking UFC show just because they've seen a lot recently is simply wrong.

Besides the strong title match, one major difference-maker was Frank Mir, who has emerged as one of the top 5 UFC draws. He was pure gold on the countdown show; Mir has become a better Tito Ortiz than Ortiz ever was. Unlike Ortiz, he's still relevant in 2009, which helps explain why UFC 107 blew UFC 106 out of the water.

It's hard to believe that a short string of disappointing numbers for weak cards lead to a chorus that the sky was falling, but these numbers should help everyone relax and take a breath. UFC 108 will do a horrible number; that should be obvious to anyone with a functioning brain considering the card. The number won't be a sign of decline or some impending doom; rather, it will reflect the fact that the card is not worthy of PPV and should have been moved to Spike TV or cancelled altogether.

In February 2008, Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir did 600,000 buys, a huge number at the time. Almost 2 years later, BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez topped it. The sky is not falling.

Considering 106 did like 360,000 to 375,000, 620,000 for 107 is good. I guarantee if Lesnar would've fought Carwin at UFC 106 the numbers would've probably been 800,000 plus.

Couture is a VERY nice guy indeed, he goes to a lot of the amateur nights in Vegas (of course his son fighting brings him out); but his gym is really cool and he always has time for the fans.

It seems like everyone has their own definition of oversaturization.:lol I agree with this part.

I'll skip 108, but that's because it sucks.

Is he always in the gym or most of the time? How do you meet him if he is training? Never knew he had a son who fights? How old is the son? Is he good or is he like his ex-wife?:lol

Sorry, I asked a lot of questions:eek:

Yeah I have to say I had the pleasure to stroll through his gym while I was in Vegas and unfortunately didnt get to meet him, but I did meet Forest, Mike Pyle, Frank Trigg, and Gina Carrano. Finally ended up getting my chance to meet Randy at UFC 88. Really outstanding guy.

Know Matt Hughes and yea I all ready know many ppl hate him whats new. Over all awesome guy and gives you the shirt off his back, at least to me he does... :rock

No worries, let's see if I can get all this:

He is there often but not always (2-3 times a week probably); didn't meet him during training, he was "retired" at the time; his son is about 20ish I think and is decent.

More injuries.. crap.

Koscheck is out of 109 with an injury and it looks like his teammate Mike Swick will be the replacement vs. Paulo Thiago.

Also Lil Nog was originally scheduled to fight Brandon Vera at 109 but Lil Nog is now out with an ankle injury. So now the word is Vera vs. Jon "Bones" Jones but instead of it being at 109, or even on F'n SpikeTV.. it'll be the main event for the UFC's debut on Versus. :duh

Which I currently don't get. Hope someone will stream it on the net.

Did Lesner ever fight Carwin or was that blown off, I thought I watched that whole Ortiz vs Griffin main event card but I didn't see the fight in there?

No Lesnar was battling that bacterial infection. I hear he's on the up and up now, but haven't heard anything official as to when he plans to fight next.

Oooh, looking forward to that; I hope "Bones" can continue to climb.

If I can remember correctly I thought I heard they'll have confirmation on Brocks next fight sometime in March. From the looks of it, Carwin is going to fight Frank Mir. Hell yeah Im hoping Jon Jones destroys Vera. Jon is an impressive exciting fighter man.
