Van Damme got ko'd by a bouncer in Vancouver, BC a few years back ('90s I believe)

He supposedly got KO'ed by Chuck Zito.

Stay retired (?) was he even professional?

Yeah, Karate & Kick Boxing. 18 - 1 with 18 KO's.

----------------------------------

STRIKEFORCE: MIAMI RESULTS

Nick Diaz defeated Marius Žaromskis (TKO rd.1)
Cristiane Santos defeated Marloes Coenen (TKO rd.3)
Herschel Walker defeated Greg Nagy (TKO rd.3)
Robbie Lawler defeated Melvin Manhoef (KO rd.1)
Bobby Lashley defeated Wes Sims (TKO rd.1)
UNAIRED: Jay Hieron defeated Joe Riggs (Unanimous Decision)

THE GOOD

The Lawler/Manhoef fight was nice. Lawler was getting killed (especially his lead leg i.e. even after he won he could barely walk from all the kicks Manhoef landed) and then out of nowhere KO'ed Manhoef. And Manhoef was KTFO for a good minute.

The Diaz/Žaromskis fight was exciting because they went toe to toe nonstop. Žaromskis rocked and dropped Diaz but couldn't do anything to follow that up. Besides that single moment, Diaz had Žaromskis rocked and stumbling around numerous times.

Cyborg vs. Coenen was a good fight too, but the stoppage was BS.

THE BAD

Horrible reffing!

Lashley/Sims fight was a joke. And the stoppage was garbage. Sims popped right back up and wasn't even hurt. Not to mention he took the fight on a weeks notice so he was out of shape. Horrible fight.

Herschel Walker's fight was garbage as well. Both him and his opponent looked clueless. I give dude props for fighting at 47 but to bump Heiron vs. Riggs for that 3 round mess of a fight was a joke. Also the stoppage was BS.

Cyborg vs. Coenen was spoiled by yet another BS stoppage. Coenen was not getting pummeled to death, it was so-so GNP and the ref stopped it. Coenen was immediately up and protesting the decision. Weak.

THE UGLY

Marius Žaromskis looked like a complete amateur. This was not the guy that head kicked KO'ed 3 guys straight to win the WW DREAM GP. Diaz outclassed him. And Diaz isn't all that great, so what does that say about DREAM and it's WW GP Champ/Current WW Champ?

Strikeforce is STILL riding the UFC's coat tails. And HARD. They even showed GSP (UFC WW Champ) on screen and advertised his upcoming March title defense. The announcers also made numerous references to the UFC and it's past/current champs/fighters. Every Strikeforce event is like a mini-UFC promo.

Strikeforce is repeating the same mistakes (mistakes even EliteXC made) i.e. promoting fighters as "Stars" in main card fights who are unproven. Now it's Lashley and Walker. Before that it was Carano and Cung Le. With EliteXC it was Kimbo, Carano and Noons. It just makes their product look crappy especially when they have talented fighters like Hieron & Riggs and they'd rather show Herschel Walker and Bobby Lashley. Not to mention when these people lose it looks bad on them because of how they promoted them.

Not to insult any of the Strikeforce fighters, but its always seemed like the UFC-minor league. For the longest time I have never known who half the fighters were, and the other half seemed like UFC rejects that couldn't make it. It was mostly because of the way Strikeforce promotes everything.

The SF event was ok, but if you dont know the fighters it makes a big difference. The UFC is way better production, but I still have little interest in the next few UFC events. The next UFC I'll order on PPV will be the Anderson-Belfort card in April, Then the Shogun-Machida rematch in May.

But it seems alot of the UFC hype has died, with bad cards and awful judging. I lost alot of interest, but alot of it has to do with all the injuries the UFC got hit with. Its Nice to see Lesner and Rampage back, and all the other fighters coming off successful surgeries, so I'm sure the magic will be back soon. Cant wait to see Lil Nog KO Griffin.

I know a lot of SF supposed "talent", but I'd put even the WEC above strikeforce, it just seems like most of the SF fighters are just UFC rejects, they have some descent talent here and there, but overall, just not interested in any of the events they put together.

Man, SF is so ass, Frank Shamrock is perma drunk and who is that tool doing the ring interviews? Man o man, the only good part was the Lawler/Mahoeff fight oh and Jenn Brown :)

Wes Sims??? This is the only guy they could find??

The tool was Stephen Quadros lol and at the event everyone was making fun of him because he was so loud and annoying. I think Stephens an alright guy but he did make me laugh. Being in Miami, it was a sea of ATT, man the whole undercard was pretty much made up of local ATT guys. I had a great time though besides all the dumb drunk asses who kept talking about UFC.

I like UFC like the next guy but its Strikeforce a totally different event and it was funny because thney were talking about what big fans they were yet left at the beginning of Diaz vs Zaromskis.

Well the next SF is on CBS in April with
Fedor v Werdum
Jake Shield v Dan Henderson

I love the free cards.
I'll be Downloading this weeks UFC card. I like the Coleman v Couture fight, should of happened long ago.

You gotta be alittle careful downloading or watching those UFC streams. Dana White said he's going after those streaming websites. "UFC plans to combat the scourge of live streams by sending subpoenas to Web sites that ask for every single IP address that connected to the stream."

Dont know if its a scare tactic, but the UFC is suing a Boston bar for showing a UFC event for 640,000. That's crazy. But I doubt they can stop the Internet piracy.

I know right...coleman vs couture...I dont even care about those dudes...I like Randy and Mark, but dont care to see them fight. Mark is looking horrible these days and brings nothing to the cage. He still fights like its 1996. Him and those hammer house boys havent evolved with the sport at all.

UFC 112 - Fighter pics and the new Abu Dhabi stadium.
It's an Outdoor stadium, making it the first open air event for the UFC.

Unfinished, but the area where UFC 112 will take place is ready to go. You can see it in the background of these pics:

Yeah this should be interesting to see, Im curious how the crowd will be. Will it be rowdy like a US crowd or will it be nice and quiet like the Japanese.

I wonder if the outdoor setting will affect the fighters at all. The other weird thing is when it's going to be shown here in the states: LIVE 10am PST/1pm EST. There's a video on YouTube that shows what the final stadium (theme park!?) will look like in Abu Dhabi. Looks crazy.

Also, Gomi vs. Florian is official:

And Dana White confirmed Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione for UFC 113 in Canada.

Honestly.. unless Kimbo takes it to the ground and submits Mitrione (like he did with Ray Mercer) I can seriously see Kimbo getting KTFO.
