Jones is a definite up and comer, but I honestly think Franklin is a top-notch fighter and a true contender in that division. I think Franklin would win that fight, but not as easily as some think. Though Jones has the tools to pull off an upset, he lacks the experience and Franklin is just too seasoned of a fighter. A good fight for him would be Thiago Silva. I like this kid and hope to see him have a title fight sometime soon, but don't rush it.

Yeah, I remember when people said the same thing when Silva fought Franklin.

And i say the Gomi fight.... DAMN! he pulled that punch from his waist.

FIREBALL!

I think people are giving Franklin a little too much credit for his Liddell KO. ...but I might be giving Jones a little too much credit for Vera. Beating Vladdy did not add much to his credit for me.

Matt Hamill may not be the best fighter but that kid can take a punch... and Jones destroyed him.

Franklin vs Jones... Make it happen UFC.

that would hardly be an upset. I dont think Franklin is a top contender for the belt at all, hes in the top 10 though. You saw what quick guys with great stand up did to Franklin (Silva 2x, Belfort). I think it would be Jones who dominates once again rather easily. I still dont understand why ppl think he lacks experience :cuckoo:. Thiago is a better test for him than Franklin. Has anyone seriously even landed a good shot on him or even stopped one of his takedowns in the ufc yet? He flat out has dominated everyone. I've been saying this for awhile, give him one more fight, then give him a title shot; Brock wasnt this dominant when he got his shot, and this guy has shown that he can hang with anyone.

Tall, lanky black guy with crazy striking. Yeah Franklin wouldn't have any problems there. Oh wait..

Jones would rape Franklin.

So it looks like Belcher vs. Maia for UFC FN 22 is off (Belcher had some eye problem or something and needed emergency surgery) so the word is Nate Marquardt vs. Rousimar Palhares will be moved from 118 to FN 22 as the new main event. No word on what fight will replace Marquardt vs. Palhares for 118 and no word on whether or not Maia will still fight on the FN 22 card.

They should just ask Leben to step in. :lol

Yeah, I remember when people said the same thing when Silva fought Franklin.

Those people must've been idiots since Silva was well-established in PRIDE and other orgs before fighting Franklin for the title in his second UFC fight.

I'd liken it more to when David Louiseu was a rising star that was supposed to dethrone the established champ in Franklin due to his superior stand-up and speed.

Jones is good, don't get me wrong, but I'm still hesitant to jump on the wagon so quickly as we've seen in this sport time and again so-called "future stars" get burnt when they step up in competition.

Like Swick. Or Vera. Or Gonzaga. Or Kang. Etc.

Hopefully, in his next fight, there will be a nice step up in comp. for Bones.

Cool story. But Silva's not a "black guy."

Regardless, I love throwing out meaningless predictions too. So I'll add to mine:

Franklin wins by TKO round 3.

Edit: Kobayashi, I don't think anyone is giving "too much credit" to Franklin. He deserves all the credit he gets, whether he KO'ed Chuck or not. Franklin is still a top ten fighter and is well-skilled in ALL areas of MMA and has only lost to Silva, Machida, and Belfort(Hendo too, but I thought Ace won). When your losses are against 3 of the greatest fighters in the sport, I don't think he has anything to be ashamed of, nor do I in picking Rich against a still untested Jones.

No need to jump on any wagon. I have respect for both fighters.

I can watch this all day:

Silva is from Brazil. When filling out a census, he would bubble in the corresponding bubble next to "Hispanic."

Chief.

And you would be wrong, chief. Which is why I told you to actually look it up instead of assuming. Anderson Silva is Afro-Brazillian. That's what he identifies himself as. And when he filled out the census in Brazil he didn't bubble in "Hispanic" because that's not even an option genius.

They may be what he identifies himself as, but like yourself, he's be wrong.

Chief.

Afro-Brazilian. How I love that term. Just like African-American. Terms of a previous era that has no relevancy to today.

However, this conversation has already taken place on this board, and I'd rather not do it again.

Anderson Silva is Latin American. Even Hispanic, rather.

He's not Black.

Chief.

Ummmm isnt he just Brazilian? I mean he was born and still trains in Brazil.

Only a few more days before Chael gets his plastic surgery. Silva is going to do a nice job on his chin.
