Sonnen has accomplished something since you guys can't stop talking about him and want to see him get beat up. It might not have worked on Sonnen, but it's worked on the MMA fan community. And good for Sonnen, he made people interested in the fight and made people care about it.

I honestly don't see how he can win, but I am going to root for him this Saturday. I will never root for the classless Anderson Silva ever again.

People weren't hyped at all for Cote or Leites fights though. This fight has gotten people more interested and excited about it.

daikkenaurora, whether you want to admit it or not, the pre-fight trashtalk or media attention plays a big part in building interesting for fights especially on PPV. Think about it. Tito Ortiz/Ken Shamrock fights were all one-sided or short beatdowns by Ortiz essentially, yet they were among the highest drawing UFC fights however because of the "feud" those two had on TV.

Just saying this is how fights make a lot of money. Rampage and Evans got really trashy with their pre-fight talk and that was one of the biggest fights of the year for the UFC in terms of buyrates, success, etc. Sonnen has simply done a good job of selling the fight.
