He couldn't get them, that's why he stopped trying. He had GSP's leg twice and GSP hopped around and still avoided the take down. Shields was forced to stand and strike. Terrible fight. Not so much because of the decision (that sucked too) but mainly because it wasn't even competitive. It was like a sparring session with GSP beating up some bum.

The event as a whole was great. But that main event SUCKKKKKKED. :lol

I agree, but I'm super dissapointed in Shields performance and his effort, but how the hell did those 2 stupid judges even give Shields one round, let alone multiple? :cuckoo:. Shields had no sense of urgency at any point during the fight. If you wanna take the belt, you gotaa take it, you gotta push the pace. He did non of it; GSP just did anything he wanted to do except finish. I didn't expect Shields to win, but I at least thought he would come bat out of hell in the 5th cause he obviously had to finish GSP in the 5th, but he just looked like a deer in the headlights out there.

The funny thing about Shields and Diaz in their fights tonight, is they throw their hands up in the air, telling their opponents to bring it, but they just stand there and do nothing themselves. Diaz talks too much ____ for being such a boring fighter. He doesn't have the same desire as his brother.

The Aldo fight was very suprising too, not that I thought Aldo would lose, but after the first, he didn't move that much, and just stood in and took shots as he didn't seemed concerned with Hominick's power. I thought we would get to see some of this amazing JJ he has, but he didn't even try to pass when he was on top, and didn't even try to sweep on the bottom, thought it was very strange, he just looked very tired out there.

Yep, he sorta gased himself out. I too was waiting for him to do a sweep when he was on the bottom but nothing. Its either the weight cut or just no sense of urgency.

Picks?

GSP
Aldo
Machida
Bendo

:hi5: :yess:

besides the Karate Kid kick by Machida, this was the most boring card of the year for me. GSP needs to move up, period.

he (Aldo) just looked very tired out there.

It was the weight cut. Aldo mentioned gaining muscle during his 7 month lay off which means he had to lose more water weight than usual to hit 145 lbs. Also when the UFC had all the title holders on stage for a Q & A session after weigh-ins yesterday Aldo had to leave early because he started to feel lightheaded.

:lol:lol:lol

Technically I was 5 for 5 because I also picked Rory over Nate (just never posted it, doh!).

While I wanted Jake to win, i knew his standup as usual would be his downfall, but I think Im more disappointed in GSP for not being able to do more. He always just jabs and jabs and hardly ever follows it up with anything. The way Jake strikes is so awkwrd I was waiting for GSP to open up more and throw more. Regardless fight of the night for me was Jose vs Mark.

As usual GSP rides to a decision. With the couple knock downs he got, smelling blood in the water but doing nothing about it, I can't take him seriously when he says he wants to finish dudes.

Great night for a couple welter weight prospects in Rory and Ellenberger. Hopefully one of them can rise up to finish GSP.

I agree, when Mike Goldberg at the end was saying GSP wants to submit guys he wants to knock them out...I really dont beleive he does, I think hes ok with being safe and going for the decision.

Good night of fights.

GSP can cure sleep apnea.

Did anyone get the feeling that GSP sounded almost scared to fight A. Silva during the post-fight interview?

Maybe it was just me...

Great night, the prelims was also very enjoyable, specially Diaz getting suplex raped in the third round:lol
