If Cain can avoid the big punches of Overeem early, I see that fight being like the fight tonight.

Carwin stays injured all the time now. Overeem is strong enough to avoid the takedown and his striking is bar none. Now can he get enough distance verses Cain to tee off on him? I hope so. I cant stand Cain. I think Roy and Barnett can also beat Cain.

Dana won't speak about it but anyone know why Goldberg wasn't doing the PPV? I'm glad he wasn't because he annoys me but I was curious about it.

"Veteran announcer Mike Goldberg will not be calling the fights tonight at UFC 155. Originally, his absence from tonight’s event was attributed to an illness, but it turns out that this isn’t quite the case. Via MMAJunkie:

UFC President Dana White on Friday confirmed the change to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) but could not offer specifics into the situation or when Goldberg is expected to return to his post.

“He’s taking time off and is not working this weekend,” White said. “I don’t know when he will be back.

White declined to offer any specifics on the reason for Goldberg’s leave."

Holy Crap! Gif tells the story

I dont get how these guys train and gas after one round? Who gets the next HW fight Overeem or Nelson? Reem is one of the last Pride era guys who can still compete on a high level. Horsemeat FTW!

I personally think he had an adrenaline dump and basically couldnt really do much else after that. Pretty much the same situation as Carwin vs Lesnar.

That must be it plus more muscle mass equals more O2 needed. You know these guys run on treadmills or outdoors almost everyday so they are in shape.

Ill say it and I'd love to see it....Fedor verses Cain in Moscow.

Cain would kill Fedor!!! Besides no chance in that ever happening anyways.

Well, we only see that more muscles equals trouble for the heavyweights. Guys like Guillard for example, are prolly only 3-4% body fat and can still go strong. Leaner muscle I guess. JDS did look bigger, but he also stumbled around like the jolly green giant. He looked so slow.

I disagree. They are both the same size, Fedor can strike better than Cain and on the ground Id say even with Cain holding the wrestling advantage and Fedor the submission advantage. It'll never happen though :monkey2

You sound like one of those nutty Fedor fans. Even if you were talking about the Fedor of yesteryear in his glory days, I still think Cain today whoops him. The sport has moved past what it was years ago to a place where Fedor's size disadvantage kills him. He'd never be HW champ just like BJ would never be WW champ no matter how much talent they have.

*******, that was a brutal beating. I know corner stoppages are not a UFC thing, but at some point you'd think it'd be better to fight another day. In the long run how safe is a beating like that :dunno By the fourth it just got uncomfortable to watch. Anyway, JDS showed a hell of a heart to stay in it for all that.

There's one aspect of cains game that I noticed sucks to high heaven. He has no jj game at all. He had multiple chances to take JDS's back and didn't even get one hook in, and the arm bar was wide open, and was executed horribly. It's much easier to sub a guy at any level when he's seeing stars most of the fight.

Yeah, I'll agree azurepred. I think his bjj game is lacking only because he comes from a wrestling base where position is #1. Control the guy and get position. BJJ players pride themselves on fighting everywhere. I dont think Cain wanted to take the chance of getting sweeped and ending up on the bottom. I too dont get why he didnt put hooks in on him. I kept thinking at least put one hook in for hip control but he never did. Who really knows, I think as much as he was going forward he still was cautious to not make a mistake that would put him in a bad spot.

As for Fedor vs Cain, he would destroy Fedor in my opinion.

I got my love for MMA watching the Pride FC events in the early 2000's when everyone worth a damn fought there. I think Fedor was one guy who could have had great success in the UFC after Pride folded but alas that never happened. I do realize the MMA game has changed and the greats like Wanderlei, BJ, Chuck, Hughes, CroCop, etc either aged out, werent well rounded enough, or should have stayed in lower weight classes. All the weight classes besides HW have champions and challengers that very good in every MMA skill...Bones, Silva, GSP, Henderson, and Aldo. Not one HW has all the tools to dominate all the others. Fedor was great in striking, *****, aggresion, and endurance. The only weak spot was wrestling. I guess we agree to disagree :panic:

Cain will not be the champ for long. I think Overeem, Barnett, Cormier, and Roy can beat him. Carwin and JDS have a chance if they can land a punch otherwise Cain out points them. Bones one day will dominate the HW division but he wont change divisions until he cant make LHW anymore.
