That's what I don't like about Dana White. Sure, GSP can retire now and enjoy his life. Dana acts like he owns these fighters and gets angry if they don't do what he says. It's great that he wants to set up the best against the best, but he doesn't get to say when a fighter retires or takes breaks.

:lecture The more I see him display that temper the more I wish one of the champs would give him the finger and retire just to piss him off.

Fighters can retire whenever they want. Dana White and the UFC have no say so in the matter/no control when it comes to that. Ask Randy Couture. What they DO have is a binding contract i.e. if and when that fighter decides to come out of retirement they have to finish out the remainder (fights left) on their contract IN the UFC. And once they retire they not only lose their title they also lose their PPV percentage bonus.

So financial it would make no sense for a fighter to do that as a big F.U. to Dana and the UFC because in the end they would only be screwing themselves over. :lol

Did I just watch Ariza kick Freddie Roach in the chest lol.

Roach deserved it..he was calling Ariza a dirty Mexican and threatened to punch him...:lecture

Hey guys...GSP just sent this pic and message (written by his handlers)

"Johny and I gave you the Fight of the Night- hope you enjoyed it! Forget all the rumors- on vacation, happy & well!!!"

And look where he ended up: doing bum shows for peanuts. Great move Frank.

I disagree. Frank took the fights he wanted, landed some roles in b movies and tv shows, helped establish Strikeforce with a couple of killer bouts, enjoyed a comfy commentating gig, and seems totally at peace with it all. Frank > petty UFC politics.

i.e. he hand picked opponents in low-level shows for peanuts. In the 6 years after he left the UFC he fought 3 guys. None of them were relevant. Then he had 4 more fights before retiring; He lost 3 of those.

That no one has ever seen or cared about.

And how did that turn out? All that work and who bought it? lolz.

At peace? He's still pissed about the purchase of SF. Not to mention he lost that comfy commenting gig because of it. :lol

UFC Money >>>>>>>>>>>>> All the money Frank made when he quit

You think money is what motivates Frank at this point? You think Frank is hurting for cash? Turn off the Dana vision, bud. Frank secured his legacy as an all-time great, retired in his prime, and then did what he wanted to do. And he completed the crossover to film long before anyone else is mma did. Show some goddamned respect and some basic knowledge of MMA history. You can't call yourself an informed MMA fan if you can't recognize Frank's importance to the sport.

Also, you're saying that by walking from the UFC in 1999 Frank left money out there. To use your term, by walking away all he sacrificed was peanuts. I assure you he made more through television and endorsements than he would have had he stayed in the UFC.

Furthermore, he fought 5 more times, losing 3 times. His wins over Gracie and Baroni were electric, and his fight with Cung was potential FOTY. The Diaz fight was the only one where he was truly beat up.

hahaha, I didn't say it was a great career move. Im saying he was the first to do it. Depending on how you look at it he did what a lot of guys wish they could do, back when guys really were making peanuts.

Ive always been a Frank fan and I get hes pretty irrelevant to modern day MMA fans, but I still applaud the guy for trying to do different things and establish the sport from an early point. That's all Im saying.

Frank secured his legacy as an all-time great
An all-time great!? He beat Kevin Jackson (3-0) Igor Zinoviev (4-0-2) Jeremy Horn (9-2-3) John Lober (3-5-2) and Tito Ortiz (4-1) FFS. And one of Lober's wins was over Frank. His legacy was built in Pancrase, just like Bas Rutten. That's where both guys competed for the majority of their careers.

he completed the crossover to film long before anyone else is mma did.
The first MMA fighter to crossover to film!? Are you ****ing serious!? Have you ever seen the first movie Frank was in? Probably not.. because guess what genius, Randy Couture, Don Fyre, Dan Henderson AND Matt Lindland were also in it. He's been in two crappy movies that no one saw and he had one role on a TV show. So how exactly did Frank "complete the crossover to film long before anyone else is mma did"? With his groundbreaking bit role on Walker Texas Ranger? On TV?

Also, you're saying that by walking from the UFC in 1999 Frank left money out there. To use your term, by walking away all he sacrificed was peanuts. I assure you he made more through television and endorsements than he would have had he stayed in the UFC.
If you honestly think he made more money outside of the UFC than he would've if he would've stayed you're delusional. Tito Ortiz got those checks while Frank was fighting bums in low level shows.

Furthermore, he fought 5 more times, losing 3 times.
FYI: Frank had 7 fights after leaving the UFC. Like I said. 4 wins, 3 losses. Over 9 years. And those 4 wins were ALL irrelevant. Baroni was by far the best guy he fought and even then Phil was 10-7 at that point. 10-7! :lol

Laughable.

Again, your credibility is suspect if you can't recognize his importance to the sport. There is clearly no reason to continue to communicating with you. Ignored.

I agree, and now hearing about things where he can't even remember the simplest of things, it's time to get out. Money isn't a factor, his legacy is cemented. It would be a shame if he ends up with permanent brain damage. Fighting Hendricks again for 5 rds wouldn't be a smart move for his health. He's taking more and more shots with every fight. Dana has his head too far up his *** to realize that a man in his position should be looking after the well being of his fighters and their future. If GSP won't retire on his own, someone needs to see if he really should be fighting or not anymore.

And Tito Ortiz' net worth is listed at 15 million. Not bad for a guy who stayed in the UFC after Frank beat the crap out of him.

That's Tito's net worth that also includes a failing clothing company on the verge of bankruptcy. Net worth can be tricky to look at.
