Here's a quick run down now that I have the statue, my room is very well lit with an overhead 2700k giant light directly on top of the ultron table.

1) The silver body color and the orange overspray does NOT bother me 1 bit, in person they are non-issues to me and looks fine with lights off. When lit up, looks even better as expected.

2) Sculpt is great as expected.

3) The statue itself is gigantic and heavy, also looks expensive. It definitely does not look like cheap plastic in person, it has a slight glossy finish which showed poorly in the original midtown comic photo.

4) However i have a BIG problem with the piss poor workmanship they put this statue together. I see gaps and horrible paint issues around his breastplate and side of the body where the arms are attached. It's unacceptable for a premium format quality.

Not sure if this is a common problem or only isolated to mine. Owners can you please check.

5) Also anyone know what those 3 magnet in the last photo are for? I thought they are for the cloak, but it already came attached with its own magnet. So what are those for?

All in all, this turned out much much better than I expected, basically what i originally envisioned ultron to be before the midtown video showed up. However i will be either returning or replacing this one due to the gaps and sloppy bodywork. Going to sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

Enjoy the photos.

1 side is just the black glue seeping out around the breastplate, 1 side is an actual gap. All they had to do is paint it over, but no cant be bothered...

also i noticed this statue does not come with a sideshow QC passed seal. It just has tapes but no seal.

Re: A reply back from SSC

Just got an email back from Mike Tolentino and this is what he wrote. It looks like SSC has added a closeup pic with natural lighting on Ultron now. Hope they do this more often now on all there new statues:

So you cancelled and lost the NRD and then ordered the piece again?
Was the NRD put back on?

After catching up and seeing the first review of this I couldn't believe my eyes ?!? :horror!?! :sick.... :panic:!!! Big Silva's review looked much better and some of the in hand pics are looking pretty good now. I feel a little better about PO this one. I hope its not a let down. :date

Hi Jason the Great,
_
Thank you for your email.
_
I appreciate your concerns and value your opinions regarding the differences of the final product and the photos that were on the solicitation page.
_
I’m sorry to see that you had already cancelled your order based on one video and early photos that were posted on the forums. The video that I saw does indeed look like it the figure is a flat color. But the actual figure does have a nice chrome finish which captures light and surrounding colors amazingly. I have attached a photo that I took with my phone to this email and as you can see the abdomen color is more defined then in the posted video.
_
Our photo galleries are done by some of the best photographers in the business and the lighting they use can be very dramatic. Going forward we may begin to post pictures with more natural light that will provide a less dramatic effect on the statues.
_
However, please be assured that we will forward your feedback to our production team. Thank you for your input and for taking the time to contact us. I hope that you will continue to give Sideshow products a chance. We still stand behind all our products which is why we enable you to return the statues if you are not completely happy with it.
_
Thank you again and have a great day.

Sorry but I don't care what kind of lighting you use you will never be able to duplicate the paint job that was advertised. Look at how much black flake is mixed in with the original promo pics on what would be his shoulders and pecks. Look at his abs. They are defiantly using a different color with more blue flakes than silver.

With a hand full of statues on order and the only way to get replacements is to buy from SCC direct or a reputable retailer I want to make sure that I get what I am paying for.

If someone can take an in hand shot with his abs showing the same color as SSC's web page I will try and pic one of these up. It appears that there have been a lot of cancellations :nana:

yahhhhh I really wanted the Ultron bad so I can display it with my Cap & Red Skull PFs and I knew SSC probably wouldn't make another one of him. The sculpt is great & since I saved $200, I will used that money for a repaint. I will see how Aves turns out before I do anything though.

yah probably *rolleyes* :p

maybe u will end up having some paint problems so sideshow could end up giving some more refund if they cant replace, (hopefully , since u r going to rpaint it anyway:lol)

same issues about paint job applied to me its finishing is not done right i have sent photos of them to SS . those magnets r extras....

I have decided to return this, the more i look at it the more disappointed i am at this statue, not so much the paint color or the orange overspray. But with the sloppiness of the construction, gaps everywhere, uneven spacing on the left/right side of his belt etc..

Such a shame because the material and sculpt is excellent, just they did not construct this properly.

I am a big marvel statue collector, I try to collect all the marvel line, but i just cant accept the paint job on him, he looks good when is lights on, but I don't turn lights all the time, and he will looks terriable with all the statue.
