Great game, but didn't resonate with me as much as Uncharted 2 did, and I'm not a fan of the multiplayer.

I'd like to keep it, but I can't see myself playing it again. Should probably trade it in while the value is high and maybe look to pick it up down the road.

Just completed the game last week. Absolutely EPIC!

However, I think the ending was a little rushed and it seemed like they were just wrapping things up way too quick. More below...

It seemed like Chloe and Elena were there just to "take up space" in between some of the scenes, though when I sat back I realized that this story was more about DRAKE and SULLY's relationship as opposed to Drake and his romantic relationships. So the exploration of that "father-son" and "mentor-student" was great though I wish there were some more scenes showing their relationship grow besides their initial meeting.

I think the MacGuffin (the "storyline plot item", this term is commonly used for the Indy series, for example, the MacGuffin in Raiders is the Lost Ark, in Last Crusade it was the Holy Grail) with the Atlantis of the Sands was certainly interesting, but towards the tail end I lost interest in it and it seemed like the final parts of the game they "rushed" through it to the ending. The Cintamari Stone and the city surrounding that was better done in Uncharted 2.

Overall though, phenomenally awesome. I'd spend some more time with the game but my main goal was to beat it and move on and I was glad to be along for the ride. I think perhaps though Uncharted should just back off on the Multiplayer stuff and concentrate on the main story. Add a "co-op" element if you want multiplayer (other player can be Sully or Elena, etc.) because I get the feeling as the team wrapped up the main campaign they focused more on the Multiplayer to get that done. Uncharted to me is about the single player campaign...NOT the multiplayer.

I will agree, that after completing the 2nd Chapter, I knew the entire game was going to be about Nate and Sully's relationship, which I have no problem with; it was fantastic. It would have been interesting to see Nate/Sully at different ages during their flashbacks. The 2nd game has 26 chapter, while this game had only 21 or 22. They easily could have added 3 or 4 more flashback chapters of Nate being younger without sidetracking too much from the main storyline.

As for the main mcguffin storyline, it was what I expected based on the 2 previous games. The "supernatural" element was actually a sort of metaphysical artifact that was misinterpreted by the people at the time as being "supernatural" which I liked. I was going to say at least you didn't fight any beast-like beings that were changed by the artifact, but you indeed did fight those beings LoL. All-in-all, I thought it was a fantastic story that could have been a little longer to be as good as Uncharted 2, which it didn't.

You mentioned Co-Op Multiplayer, they put that in there....there are 5 chapters that you can do Co-Op; they are about 35-45 minutes each, so that adds a little more to the game.

I enjoyed the hell outta this one, but Uncharted 2 was easily a better game for me. However.....

I did like that the MacGuffin was never actually exploited. I kind of get sick of this over-the-top supernatural element in adventure stories like Tomb Raider and Uncharted. I get it....Raiders did it once a long time ago. We don't have to constantly hit our adventure stories with a dash of retarded. Honestly that's what buried the Tomb Raider franchise. Speaking of which, it looks like they're rebooting and headed in the exact same direction once again, which is funny as s@#$.

You guys bring up good points. Caedus, I actually didn't search around in the game that much because I just wanted to focus on the storyline and beat it cause I have other games I want to play! haha!

Uncharted I believe has done a good job of balancing the supernatural with a touch of seriousness and subtly that it isn't ridiculous, silly and over-the-top. Just like "Raiders" did, "Last Crusade" and I'll even go to say that "Temple of Doom" did it too. Uncharted 1 might've been a little more silly with the mysterious gold statue but how else to you legitimize a Curse? Uncharted 2 was a bit better with the unique tree sap and made a little bit more sense. As some know, some plants do have hallucinogenic effects. Even Uncharted 3 captured that well with the water. Though I really struggled to try and understand why Marlowe wanted the water?? What were her ultimate goals?? Yes, she was a far more interesting villain than previous, but I wish they did some more background on her.

Looking forward to Uncharted 4!!!

Completed my second play through of this tonight, did it on Crushing this time :yess:

Might not have had the wow factor of the 2nd game but for me it's the most complete game of the series so far. My GOTY without doubt :clap

Yes uncharted 2 was way, way better. In every department except story.

I think the storyline was better in the second one as well. This game just has the better graphics. Everything else is on the same level in my opinion.

And I think the multiplayer is pretty addicting.

Do you guys think it is worth it buying uncharted 3? Or rent?

Rent it. Or, if you can find a way to watch a playthrough, that's even better. As a story, it's a great time, but as a game I found it frustrating, cheap, and the gameplay mechanics are archaic at best. Look up the Onion's review of it for a better explanation of why it sucks as a game but excels as a story-driven experience. My feelings on it have really soured after I finished it.

What I don't like about uc3 is all the slow parts you have to sit through. Like he'll walk up to something and talk, and you can't skip over it to just get moving forward in the game. Granted there are cut scenes you can skip over. But a lot you cannot. And it just makes me crazy to have to sit and wait, when I just want to play. Especially when going back for trophies. I quit long ago.

I just don't like the fact that it's an extremely, extremely linear experience and if you even THINK about doing something the developers didn't want you to do, you will die and have to do the sequence over and over again until you figure out what it is you have to do. The gameplay sections themselves feature gunplay that was dated in the Tomb Raider days and platforming that was done better in the Prince of Persia series.

I don't know, for as much effort as they put into the story and making it cinematic, they forgot how to make it fun to play somewhere along the line, and that's almost unforgivable. Especially after how great Uncharted 2 was.

My hate for the MGS series is well-documented, but I would rather sit through a 30-minute codec conversation than be misled by the illusion that I'm actually in control of even the most minute aspects of the outcome of the game.
